Located right opposite the beachfront on Marine Parade in Coolangatta, Cecada Modern Dining proved a lovely cafe to spend an hour or two. The business nestles itself amongst the many restaurants, pubs and cafes that occupy this trendy part of the Gold Coast, but makes itself a standout through inspired menu choices that offer variety and value.
The average meal ranges from $15-$25, with happy hours from 8-9am, 12-1pm and 5-6pm knocking 15% off the overall cost. While this is on the more expensive side for most cafes, Cecada proves its value taste and quality of food.
Seafood takes a large priority on the menu, and can be found in burgers, risottos and salads. Those wishing to splurge can order fresh Coffin Bay Oysters, starting at $27 per dozen.
As well as seafood there are many normal cafe options available - steak burgers, bacon and eggs, bruschetta, and pastas amongst others. I enjoyed the Teriyaki Chicken Burger, although was surprised to find sliced carrot as a side dish to my meal. It was a nice surprise until I realised that carrot's must have been soaking in honey for the last 7 weeks. Too sweet for me!
The coffee was fantastic, even to the extent that I gave the barista a tip and a hearty thanks on the way out. The meal at Cecada had set up the rest of my day perfectly. read more
