I came here looking for vinyls for my collection and I found this place from TikTok. This shop is very big and they have such a wide selection. Everything is organized by genre as well as a new arrivals section and bargain section. They have used music books as well. They probably have any vinyl that you are looking for. If it's in good condition it will probably be priced $30 and up. This place is a bit pricey and some newer items you can find at retail stores for cheaper are overpriced here.

My favorite store in the area, they've moved a few times over the years. This location feels like a winner. Sell your media (CD, vinyl, cassette, DVD) and buy new/used as you wish.

Great record store! I have been coming here for many years now. I always have a tranquil and dreamy feeling every time I walk in this store. A majority of the customers come here for the vinyls and CDs. I have been going here for the movies, mostly blu-rays. The staff is friendly. They assist me with trading in movies for cash or store credit which I have definitely used.

If I had all day, this is where I would camp out. The music selection alone will have you hunting high and low (literally), as once you thought you were done, there are bins below the racks. The selection and organization of music genres are A+ standards. The most important quality I liked about this store is the pricing. Mostly all of the items I've seen were priced below what's listed on Discogs or Ebay. This store is here for the customer and not to rip them off!! A "must-go" to when in the area!!!

Tombstone blu-ray that I already owned & the director's cut DVD I bought from CD Cellar.

Reviews are largely positive. Shoppers highlight the extensive music selection, helpful and knowledgeable staff, and fair pricing and bargains.

They don't make them like this anymore. The classical selection is astounding.

Such a fun place to dig for vinyl. They have new arrivals daily so there is always an excuse to swing by. If you need an excuse that is.

After asking too many questions about exactly which Lebanese authors were available at his…read morebookstore, the owner Dhiya came out from behind his desk and gave me my very own tour of the the bookshop. Here is Western writing about the Middle East, here is Egyptian history, here is dramaturgy and poetry arranged by country. I have traveled in many countries in the Middle East and am always on the hunt for modern Arabic fiction, and the state of Arabic bookstores in general is Abysmal. Dusty bookstores in the Arab world are full of nothing but religious tracts and outdated translations of English self-help books. Al-Hikma is a magnificent collection of every single type of Arabic writing, both religious and profane. You can find every single thing under the sun, far better than the majority of bookstores you would find in an Arabic speaking country. And rather than the few online bookstores available, you have that truly unique and wonderful human experience of browsing shelves and shelves of Arabic titles without having to know exactly what you are looking for. Located in an unassuming stripmall outside of Washington D.C., Al-Hikma probably does more to bridge the gulf of ignorance between inside-the-beltway Middle East expertise, and the true heritage of Arabic thought better than the State Department and the C.I.A. combined. Everytime I visit DC I try to make it to this palatial collection of Arabic writing. On my personal tour, Dhiya told me that he named his bookstore after the great library in Abbasid Baghdad. His bookstore is certainly a worthy inheritor of the namesake.

After wandering in and hearing the owner telling a story to another women in the shop, he sat us…read moredown for 2 hours to talk about philosophy. He gave us tea and cookies and a free pen, and great recommendations for books. Although ramblely, his kindness was truly touching. He explained that he has the first Arabic book store in dc, and he is incredibly passionate about free will and the right to literature. The store felt magical and peaceful , and I will cherish the few hours I spent there

The Good - Located right by my house, I can walk there in 10 minutes. Most people probably don't…read morelive this close though. They have a good selection of new rock, pop, hip-hop and electronic releases, a little bit better than CD Cellar in Arlington I would say. I can't comment on their Jazz section though. They have a lot of turntables and receivers and accessories like record brushes and cleaning sprays and MFSL inner sleeves which is nice. They also buy records for more than anywhere else. I can get $10 or maybe even a little more for a record, where at CD Cellar I only get $5 for the same record. Their frequent sales of 10-25% off are nice, which you can see if you sign up for their email newsletter or like them on Facebook. The Bad - Very pricey. They were selling Daft Punk's Random Access Memories for $45!!!! They frequently charge $20 or more for a non 180 gram single LP release. I have sold them an LP I originally paid $24 for and they put it back on their shelf for $40! They seem to not price anything cheaper if it is opened and played versus if it's sealed. When I bought a $20 sealed record and sold it back to them after I had listened to it for a few months, they went and sold it for $20, even though it had been opened and played. Their customer service is also kind of iffy. I asked them to order a copy of Centipede Hz by Animal Collective, and they said it would take them about a week to get it in, and it took more than two weeks. I could have bought a record myself from Amazon or Discogs and gotten it in a week! When I brought my turntable in to get it looked at by their equipment fix-it guy they said it would take about a week. I came back a week and a half later to see how the repair was coming along, but my turntable had not moved from a shelf in the back. The lady behind the counter had just shoved it in the back somewhere and completely forgotten about it the day I dropped it off. Blue Groove Soundz has a good selection at prices that are a little more than they should be. They have bad to OK customer service, and a good (for me) location. I would give them two stars, but they are very close to my house so I keep coming back.

It's got the charm of grandma's attic. Shop at your own peril. Prices are all over the map.read more

They have a wide variety of used items as well as several very fine lines for which they are certified dealers. They run the audiophile gamut in terms of price. As an example, they have the basic Project Debut all the way up to a Clearaudio Reference Master. I was pleased with the candor of their advice. For example, they urged me not to replace certain items because what I have is already plenty good. Many stores would have tried to sell more stuff rather the help the customer get it right and save money. Three separate times they gave me advice or a solution that involved no money changing hands. They also listen. How a person hears is like a fingerprint. We're all different. I told them the type of sound I enjoy and they tailored systems extremely accurately to my preference - and told me several times that I would not like certain expensive items so not to bother. Bottom line: it was about the customer sharing their joy in listening, not about moving boxes. Be prepared to spend some time if you visit. Between the beauty of their inventory, the joy of listening to beautifully reproduced music, and the infectious enthusiasm of the staff, time tends to fly. Finally, don't neglect to spend some time with Command Performance's most charming and enthusiastic employee, Bella the Audio Dog!

I've even been able to score some really great used finds for cheap. In addition, they sell record players and other merch, including shirts and hoodies. I snagged a pretty sick hoodie that they did as a collab with Marlowe Ink. They have been AMAZING through the quarantine, initially having hours where you could pick up preordered records in front of the shop. Now they have adapted to the latest phase and are allowing 4 customers in at a time with a mask. In the non-Covid days, this was a chill spot to sit down and listen to a record. They are usually stocked with lots of awesome artists from every genre. Since I guess I'm at a point in my life where I just listen to dad rock, I've really appreciated that they often have nearly full discographies of some of my favorites like The National and Minus The Bear. They have a discogs site where you can see what they have and they keep it updated. They can also sometimes order things for you. You can DM the shop on Instagram and they usually get back to you pretty fast. The owner Dempsey is super helpful, friendly and down to earth.
