Taylor & Sarah, California Cancer Center, San Marcos.
    Loly H.

Meet Sarah & Taylor, my chemo nurses at the California Cancer Center. Whole heartily they give with passion and love. They've seen me fall apart, cry and laugh. The inspiration they've given me I could never forget. Thank you ladies, I salute your brave heart! #Godfirst #cancersucks #chemonursesrock #missmyfamily I'm afraid of the storm ahead, I'm moving along and slowly learning how to sail and navagate my ship.

Treatment room is nice with most recliners having TVs. Chairs are close together, so when the room fills up you won't have much privacy

The more I come here, the more things seem to be going wrong and the less confident I am in Ccare's abilities to properly take care of their patients. Firstly, Dr McClay is an amazing oncologist. He is friendly, extremely knowledgable and gets down to your level to explain things and answer your questions. Nothing but praise for him. Unfortunately, the same cannot be said about what happens behind the scenes. Some examples of what has transpired in the past: -At the start of my treatments, their online platform said I needed 24 chemos so I put it on my calendar counting down to the last one. All of a sudden on the 18th session I log in and see that the amount got bumped up to 26 without anyone telling me why. I panicked and contacted my oncologist. Apparently it was due to a "glitch" and turns out the online portal had always been wrong but no one ever contradicted that info either. Shameful. -A month after meeting my out of pocket, get a call the day of chemo from the billing department telling me I need to pay 4.5k for treatment that day or I can't get it. Had to push back a lot before they believed me. -Got referred to the Dermatology Institute downstairs from Ccare the day following a checkup. Upon arrival, there was no appointment, staff treated me with no decency whatsoever and sent me walking. Ended up in a nightmare situation that day. -Got a call once 15min before treatment, telling me that whoops they forgot to get my insurance to authorize treatment for that day. Instead of rectifying it, they tried to get me to cancel my appointment and move it while I was 5min away from the office in my car! I completely broke down crying upon arrival, needlessly stressed out because of their lack of capability. -Trying to get a hold of someone is neigh impossible. You will spend ages on hold, only to be connected to a voicemail and your call not being returned. -I get treatments every 2 weeks for a year, so I have arranged my life according to this schedule. Yet sometimes, planning just randomly changes dates around without even consulting me. So then I have to chase people around again to change it back to normal. Again, needless stress. -Just today the NP was supposed to check in with me during my treatment. I asked my nurse to go look for her twice while I was there, but she did not even come out to see me. I did see her attend other patients. No excuse or apology. Seriously?! -Etc. As if going through cancer isn't hard enough already, I am finding myself less confident and at ease at Ccare. I don't trust what happens in back-office anymore, as communication is hard to come across. I can't wait for my treatments to be over so I can stop stressing out about whether or not they are all doing their jobs behind the scenes. Cancer already makes you feel powerless, and for Ccare to constantly further destabilize my life has taken a heavy emotional toll. PS: Gentry has been my angel behind the scenes whenever I have a nervous breakdown when something goes wrong. Give her a raise!

Her depth of knowledge, style of patient education, delivery of numerous levels of care, professionalism and follow through are absolutly unparalleled to anyone. She pours her heart & soul into her practice & her patients. The results of her acupuncture treatments are real & tangible in a way that will convince even the greatest skeptic. I can't begin to list the numerous ailments she has helped and cured where others fail. She can uncover what others miss! While her knowledge is vast in a multitude of areas; she truly does specialize in cancer care. She has a true expertise sought after by patients and doctors. She understands all things oncology and how integrative medicine intertwines to create a magnitude of quality of life I could have never imagined for myself. I'm not one to write reviews but I just have to share what a true gift she has been to my quality and quantity of life as an advanced cancer patients. She is most definetly a forerunner & leader in the world of functional medicine & integrative oncology care.

I was told by multiple Dr.'s that my hot flashes were normal and common at the age of 32. I first thought "why is she asking questions that are irreverent to why I'm here?" It was odd to me that a Dr. would ask so many questions about my eating habits, stress level, etc. since most of us are used to saying what our symptoms are and getting aspirin or Tylenol or in my case "it's normal" and walking out feeling hopeless. I came in with zero exceptions and she truly changed my life. Not only did my hot flashes went away but the constipation I been dealing with since I was 7 years old is nonexistence now. The care and the research she puts in for her patience is remarkable! I am so grateful for this amazing "new" life she has provided for me and my family. Thank you for giving me a new opportunity to live a healthy and happier life.
