As far as I know there are free CDL classes, free culinary classes, and free carpentry classes. There is access to transportation and they will help you set up medical rides or bus passes daily weekly or a monthly. It really is impossible to go hungry and Providence because of this place offering their hot breakfast with juice milk and even coffee. They also offer lunch between the hours of 11 and 12:00 every day. There's help for different kinds of people, do you need help mentally? They have groups for that including substance abuse, you need help getting on methadone or Suboxone or even just a simple medications such as tylenol? It will help you set up appointments with your doctors. If you don't know how to fill out any applications they help you with that as well! They have multiple people that speak different languages so there is help for everybody here. Sometimes there are research groups that compensate you. They also have a program called hands up if you come every Tuesday at 8:30 in the morning you can sign up to work twice a week for 3 weeks and make $50 each time. They also can help you get housing or some type of shelter they will connect you directly with the resources or phone numbers or people that you need to speak with if you really want help it will help you to their fullest.

There are so many wonderful things to appreciate at the Ronald McDonald House. So many that it…read morewould be difficult to describe them all in detail and so I'm going to focus on one area, the Moran Family Day Room. Through my own personal experience I know how difficult it is to be a parent with a child in the hospital. When all you want is for your child to be well, you forget how important it is to take care of yourself. I wish I had know then that something as incredible as the Moran Family Day Room at the Ronald McDonald House existed. There are no stipulations to whom can use their day room other than, you have a child age 0-21, in a hospital recieving care. If interested in using the facility you simply have to reach out to a member of your child or grandchilds) care team and ask. I had seen the donation boxes a few times while out at McDonald's over the years, but never stopped to ask what the Ronald McDonald House was or what they do. Well, I was very pleased and delighted to learn about all that and more today! They are an incredible organization that provides housing and support to families with children and young adults who are admitted to the nearby hospitals. Not only do they provide beautifully furnished rooms for the families, they also provide everything from clean linens and towels and home-cooked dinners, all in a gorgeous and recently renovated three story building that is within walking distance from Hasbro Children's Hospital, Rhode Island Hospital, and Women & Infants Hospital. We were the dinner volunteers of the day, and worked together as a team to prepare a meal of macaroni and cheese, salad, and baked chicken for the families who reside here. After we spent about an hour in the building's spacious kitchen, we were given a guided tour of the House by Tina Ledo, their Development Associate. She showed us all around, including a family room where kids and their parents can unwind after a long day, a conference room that is open for community meeting use, and a lovely day room that families who are not staying at the House but have children in the hospital can use to recharge between visits. It was absolutely wonderful to see what an amazing place the Ronald McDonald House is, and to hear the stories of how they have helped families with children in the hospital for 30 years and counting! Thank you again for giving us Providence Yelpers an extremely rewarding volunteer opportunity. I very much look forward to volunteering in the future!

They can drive the big wooden car or one of the many Little Tykes cars they have. You can fly a helicopter or be the train conductor. You can play in the sand table with all of the construction vehicles. You can pretend to paddle the fishing boat and pretend to fish. It's truly one of the best playgrounds I have seen. Make sure to check the hours before going. They stick to a schedule there. The workers there are truly so kind and friendly.

We completed an application online and left a payment. One of our close friends was then contacted as a reference. Next thing I knew we had a home visit scheduled which turned into Spike's first night at our home and a member of our family. It was an easy process and we have a kitten that is very easy going and great with our kids (but not so great with our shower curtain but that's just catnanigans!) Note: The adoption fee cost covered chipping the cat and neutering through a local Providence shelter

We fully disclosed we owned two cats, a 2 year old and a 16 year old elderly cat. They gave us the dog only three days after two major surgeries, but the foster gave us very minimal details about the medications and did not tell us he had been on a previous medication. The dog ended up having a paradoxical reaction to his medications, and I had to call the vet who did the neuter and cherry eye to figure out what to do. We had to keep him in a crate a lot for his own safety, because a cherry eye surgery needs the dog to be almost entirely activity free for two weeks. When the dog was able to be calm, I allowed him on the couch with me. He attacked our elderly cat twice, and every time he laid eyes on her, it was obvious he wanted to chase her down. One of these attacks resulted in my cat being bitten. The foster then tried to say he probably just put his mouth on her, but she cried out in very obvious pain. He BIT her, full teeth on her flesh. The foster also tried to blame my cat for the dogs behavior, stating it was her fault for not fighting back. She has been around numerous dogs, and none have ever treated her this way. Its inexcusable to say it was her fault. The foster was maybe the worst part of the whole experience. She was rude and condescending and even implied it was my fault my previous dog passed away earlier this year from a silent tumor that burst on his spleen. She also picked apart every single medical decision I made for my animals in a way that felt like I was being severely judged and looked down upon. We did literally everything in our power to save that dog. My husband and I feel that we were lied to, especially by the foster. This dog was not safe with cats, was highly reactive, and should not have been given the okay to come into our home. We were told he was polite with cats. The temperament and behavioral issues were withheld in a way that felt deliberate. It took over a week with multiple phone calls and emails to finally receive our money back.

I did the Seal Watch tour including the Rose Island atop/tour. This was a 2 hour experience. We had…read morea private tour of the Rose Island Lighthouse and barracks. I really enjoyed this part and learned a lot. It was a freaking cold and windy day but the boat was comfortable. There was an open area and then thick plastic which protected you from the wind and created "inside" type section. Sadly,med didn't see any seals up close and only pops of their heads in the distance. I think called this a bay tour and explaining seal sightings might happen would manage expectations. Even if we had seen more, it doesn't see, like we could have gotten close enough to really observe them because of safety and protection regulations. I love the cause and supporting this organization and enjoy any type of boat tour. I think if you're expecting to see and photograph seals up close, you'll be disappointed. I was happy to explore and learn about Rose Island. The price was fair, especially if you only do the one hour tour. Staff was friendly and answered questions.

Right now, they getting ready for their version of Salvation Army summer camp, call CAMP CONNRI, that for Connecticut (CONSTITUTION STATE) and them Rhode Island (OCEAN STATE)! I once did a summer camp at my hometown Salvation Army Corps! I have two times did Vacation Bible School! Wow, so even Rhode Island, only has Five Counties, has a Salvation Army! It's my favorite because it is the largest LFL I've seen and it's inside of a retro gasoline pump. There were five shelves that were organized and fully stocked. I found some books I've been wanting to read and a classic that I've read before (The Great Gatsby). It's in a great location with plenty of foot traffic. There are plenty of parking in the area. If you're in the area and love books, I recommend you stop and check it out!
