The pharmacy would lose money if they send me what I requested; however, if that's the case, the pharmacy should communicate with my doctor's office from the very beginning not until the last minute when I reached out. Now my medicine will be delayed for more than 4 days. This business basically doesn't have ethics and only cares about money. Avoid this business if you could. This pharmacy sent me a substitute generic brand without my consent which is birth control. - if you are a female you know how each generic brand works differently. My gynecologist office places the prescription with this pharmacy so I don't know the details but I specifically said I needed Xulane patch, not Zafemy. The worst part is that there's a guy named Luis who's racist and rude. After I tell him my name which is a foreign name on the prescription, he had an attitude against me. He using inappropriate language like "I'm not repeating my name to you" "there's no further discussion" "I'm in charge." This guy cut me off a few times and never let me finish my desired solution and doesn't have a can-do attitude. All he did is "there's nothing I can do for you, is your doctor's fault" So ladies, avoid this racist place that substitutes your birth control without letting you know. And don't let a rude disrespectful man who is not even able to get pregame tell you all the birth controls are the same!! Ridiculous!

If and when Vitamin Shoppe makes an effort to rectify the situation in a manner that is more appropriate to the circumstances, I will happily adjust this review accordingly. So I recently have taken to placing some orders for supplements and other items online and picking them up from VS's retail store near where my work is located. This made things easy for me, but today I saw my PayPal statement grace my email inbox and imagine my surprise when I saw that my single purchase of just over 30 dollars was instead charged and deducted from my account 7 times! So, yeah, suffice it to say I was not pleased by this to put it mildly, but I still maintained professionalism and placed a call to their customer service 800 number. In my initial call the lady who answered my call was unable to offer any assistance and told me she had escalated my case and told me I would shortly receive a call back. Several hours later this was not the case, so I called them back. This time I was placed on the line with a rather hectic sounding gentleman who basically told me "ummm, we should have it handled in 2-3 days time" and quickly got me off the phone. Call me crazy, but when a vendor has an unauthorized charge for over 150 bucks do I not deserve more swift and definitive resolution? In the past when I have infrequently had problems with Paypal transactions from vendors, they process a refund instantaneously when they realize the error. That there was almost nonexistent sense of urgency is troubling to me on multiple levels. Not to mention, what if I was in a position where I could not afford to be out the 150 bucks? In any event, I have filed a dispute with Paypal, and I will await action from VS and update this review accordingly, but I would say it's more than safe to assume that I will be taking my business to GNC or bodybuilding.com for my sports nutrition needs moving forward. A sales associate helped with locating it and after asking a few questions she showed me what I should purchase. I had a feeling I wasn't getting the right product but took her advice. After returning home and opening it my suspisions were correct. She did infact suggest the wrong product and since I opened it I am now stuck with it. Today is March 15, 2009 and largely due to their advice, I now weigh 181.4 lbs. Because of the knowledge and helpful nature of those three guys, I have lost close to 40 lbs. I live closer to the Arlington Hts. location, and while that is a nice store too, I don't mind going further to this location instead because I know I can rely on them if I have a question and they won't just try to sell me the most expensive thing in the store. Let me also say that I used to go to GNC a lot, but over the years it seems like over 80% of the products in the store are now their own brand. You get a better selection at the Vitamin Shoppe and at this particular location, Dave, Juan and Darren are very knowledgeable and twice as helpful, more so than most of the other locations I have been to.

The shop is less of a vitamin shop and more of a healthy living spot. The selection appears to extend well beyond supplements. I went here to refill on my daily supplement. The employee directed me towards the particular spot in the store, where only one brand was available. She appeared knowledgeable about the brand and manufacturing process. However, when I inquired further about the manufacturing standards and verifications, she was unable to answer. I only purchase supplements that have been verified for nutritional content, absorption, and safe manufacturing practices. There are two major laboratories that conduct independent testing. I inquired about both of these labs by name to the employee, but she was unaware of any verification labs that existed or that the supplements underwent testing. I am well aware that the FDA has little to no regulatory power over supplements, but independent testing is available for any brand to confirm that their product is genuine. Bottom line, the supplement line carried by Family Health has not been independently tested. I would not recommend purchasing from them. On the other hand, Family Health offers a wide array of health services and seminars for the new age medicine enthusiast. If you are into herbal remedies and non-traditional medicine, Family Health is right for you. If you just need some vitamins or supplements, find someplace else.
