I wanted to "save" our older tile as it is very attractive. He worked with me to preserve that tile and make a beautiful bathroom configuration. We have also hired him to do some work at our business as well as more work at home. He will be power washing and staining our deck, putting an egress window in the basement and replacing a sliding patio door and front door. He is very thorough and pays attention to every detail. He has pets himself, so he did not mind our two kitties monitoring his work. I really don't want to leave this review because I don't want to share his time with anyone, but what can you do?

I'm starting with this because anything relating to doing Plumbing or Electrical work, or installing egress windows in a basement requires permits. Why....because there are a lot of unlicensed contractors in Wisconsin that do bad work and by pulling a permit, the city inspector has to come out to check the work to make sure the contractor charging you money knows what he is doing. Next, this guy, quoted me $11000 for a job and wanted $8000 up front.....huge red flag. Why you ask, because and I quote Stefan, I'm a small company, I cant compete with multi million dollar companies. Right away this made me think, this guy is going to take my money and run, 2, this guy may do work, but has no money to pay his guys, so the project will be in limbo forever, and lastly, because he has no money, he needs to have multiple projects going at the same time to have any money. Stefan, was at my condo when I told him over the phone I was not going to give him $8000 up front. I told him I will give him $2000 up front, and make progress payments based on his work, he argued with me for 10 minutes, whining about how hes a little company and has only been in business 2 years. He was doing demo on my bathroom, he removed the shower, toilet and vanity, but only disposed of the shower, he basically left after I gave him the $2000. Because he was supposed to do plumbing work on my condo, the hoa requires a weeks heads up to shut down the plumbing stack in my building. He did the week notice, but never showed up. My wife called an texted and he gave us numerous excuses ranging from he was sick, to my wife didnt pick out materials.....which he was supposed to meet her for, and never showed. The last excuse that he didn't think the H.O.A needed notice because he can shut off the water inside the unit. This is when it dawned on me he's not licensed. There is no water shut off in my unit, you have to shut off the water supply to the unit to change the plumbing. I called an emergency plumber that I was referred to that same day, the first thing he said was I need to pull permits for this....awesome, lets do it. Stefan never mentioned permits.....because you reading this are as licensed as Stefan is. I checked the Wisconsin License Bureau, there is no contractors license under AAA General Contracting. As I write this, he has ignored my wifes wishes to get the fob to our building, keys to our condo and the balance of the deposit back. Stay away from this guy, he will be out of business and will not be able to warranty his bad work in years to come. For basements I would recommend Total Basement Finishing's, for plumbing Hagen Plumbing and for General Construction, Classic Carpentry.

What I noticed with Chris's approach to work was that he completed the project professionally and to the specifications intended. Chris senior and his son showed cooperative teamwork, working as efficiently as two adults, as such the project was completed early. The work site was kept clean and well organized. The original masonry project was for $500. This included the contractor paying for materials (the…read moreconcrete and the "parge" materials). I then asked him if he can do a railing with the understanding since it is not his expertise that I was buying the railing and the screws. This project was originally quoted over a phone call for $300 which he then tried to ask for more and I told him if he was not sticking to his word that he could take the railing project out and continue on with work on the chimney only. The remainder of the chimney (his expertise so materials like the first job should have been included in the job quote) was to be $500. He stated he would stick to his quote to complete the requested job (railing and chimney) for $850 the 50 extra for the concrete screws needed to complete the install of the railing. Once he completed the railing he requested to be paid $500 now $300 for the chimney. I agreed to this with the understanding that the chimney would then be knocked down to 300. He then back tracked multiple times trying to get more money for the chimney by sending materials costs to me (which any contractor should already have factored this into the quote and like was previously factored into the original quote). I then declined services after calling out the inconsistencies. He then proceeded to text me again to apologize for not sticking to his word and "being a good guy" would complete the project as originally stated. Which I then refused again. He proceeded to send a long message trying to justify all his actions and lack of sticking to his word. I would never hire this company again as they clearly are not professionals with quoting out jobs and blaming the consumer that they didn't do things properly.

Because he's a contractor, we got a discount at major distributors which saved us a lot of money on the project. The job was completed timely and even a few weeks earlier than what was quoted. I was dreading overhauling the kitchen in the midst of the pandemic because we called a few other contractors and either they came and discussed the project with us and we never got any follow-up or we simply couldn't get our calls returned. Tom was able to meet with us after our work and made sure he worked around our schedule. We'd recommend Tom to anyone who needs a simple handyman work to a complete kitchen remodel!

He is the Maintenance man for my apartment building but isn't employed by the property manager so I don't know what kinda deal they have. I had building inspection come through and they specifically told me that Tom Z is "the worst landlord I have ever met, infact I was shocked to see him when I pulled up" so that should tell you something. I'm not sure that understands basic carpentry or basic building codes. I would not hire or recommend him to anyone. All that being said he seems like a nice person just doesn't understand how things work or why some things need to be done a certain way.

Our old home had many architectural and builder-related challenges and Washa dealt with all very successfully. Our most recent project was a garage remodel and it was approached with the same attention to detail and professionalism as any of our other projects. They were very timely when I reached out to make the first contact. Very shortly afterward they arranged a meeting with the subcontractors (floor, electrical, design team, insulation etc.) to make sure everyone was on the same page. I felt like were really benefited from the group think. The garage remodel included a food prep work area and Washa construction came up with some unique and practical builds to meet our needs including a heater, hoist, wall mounted foldable food grade stainless steel table, lighting so bright that you could do surgery in there, and smooth nonporous impervious walls around the work area. We are thrilled with the outcome and have had many, many compliments on the garage. I cannot say enough good things about working with this company. I'm a detailed oriented 'picky' client and here are the things that I like. They are respectful and take their time with clients. What is common to them is not common to the client and they understand this. Timely communications are a priority (phone, email, text). I send an email with points, and I get a meaningful response. It was very clear who was managing the project and who to call if I had questions or "some things I noticed..." The estimates have always been fair and competitive, billing is transparent, and the work timeline was clear over the whole project. There is no upselling, e.g. getting a new garage door when the one we had was working just great. The workmanship and attention to detail are consistently superb. Pat was the lead carpenter on the current project, and he insured all the work was done correctly and even had many helpful suggestions to make the site more functional. I was very impressed with the clean-up... work sites were cleaned up at the end of the day even if they were coming back the next day. It seemed like their motto was "leave it cleaner than how we found it". Over the years I have seen the same people working with the company and that says a lot about the company atmosphere and how people feel about working with them. Happy workers do better work and treat clients well. One important thing to me is being able to trust the workers when I cannot be at home. They ensure things are locked up. There is no concern about pets, kids, etc. They even took great care to make sure they did not block the mail person's access to our mailbox. We knew we had a good company the first call we made to this business to inquire about building our first new house. Dan Miller spent about 45 minutes on the phone with me even though he was extremely busy, he never rushed me and took time to answer all of my questions. I remember him saying, "We build every home as if WE are going to live in it ourselves." That really resonated with me. We had our initial consultation in his office in November, and showed him a floor plan of what we were interested in. After a few days, he came up with the perfect plan for us, tweaked it a bit to fit our needs, and said he had already built a house with this existing floor plan recently. He even gave us the address of this house so that we could drive by to take a look at it. Before we signed the contract, we spent a lot of time doing our homework regarding prices, checking references, checking with former customers of his and even touring a few former customers' homes to see them for ourselves. Our life savings was going into this house and we could NOT afford to make a mistake. Every house he built was beautiful and the craftsmanship was excellent. Every single former customer we talked to had nothing but good to say about Miller Custom Homes. Not one person could come up with a single negative. We signed our contract in February and in early March, digging began on our new house. We were very fortunate that we had a very mild, snow-free March as the crew was able to work the entire month of March. Every single worker on all of their crews were not only excellent workers and always on time, but friendly and accommodating as well. Not once did we ever have to call and ask where a worker was because they always showed up on time. Dan himself always came out every few days, sometimes the very next day early in the AM to check on the progress from the day before to make sure it was correct. He was constantly making sure the work was right and on schedule. He definitely is very involved in each house he builds and truly cares about customers' concerns and what they want. Long story short, our house was finished in mid July and we moved in two weeks ago. Throughout this whole process, Dan was not only our builder, but we thought of him as a friend.
