The cottages are definitely rustic (honestly I think using the word resort in the name is a bit of a stretch) but comfortable. The website descriptions are pretty accurate so i won't waste space on that. There 5 cottages, shared paddle boats, kayaks and canoes. There are frequently lots of families and the kids enjoy running between the beach and play ground. As I said the cottages are rustic but obvious recent improvements such as recently built fire pits for each cottage. Bring a fishing rod...honestly I have no idea what type of fish...but the kids had hours of fun every day fishing off the dock the beach area is good but other than that the lake is pretty weedya

The property is very well maintained and taken care of with no sign of disrepair or complacency, very nicely laid out as well. The cottages are appointed with everything to make your stay as comfortable as can be. Amenities such as fully appointed kitchen, indoor fireplace, bbq, comfortable beds and furniture, sat tv, and of course wifi (that worked perfect). All you need to bring is your clothes and food and you're good to go. The cabins have a nice size deck that faces the water with a fire pit just steps away. There is also a small onsite store and you can rent watercraft to get out on the lake as well. The owner seemed genuinely concerned at making our stay enjoyable yet was not intrusive in the slightest way, very considerate. I would not hesitate to recommend Fees Landing to my friends and family without a fear of disappointing anyone and will go back in the near future.

Saw a Barred Owl close up, a little to close when walking over to the comfort station at night (scare the cr*p out of us), nice to see close up in wild doing owl things and no did not careless we were there it was to busy making its dinner

They apparently are always full every night, so you need to make reservations sooner than later. Wasn't a great first impression along with an odd looking website. But when we arrived after a hard down pour we came to a third full restaurant inside at 4:30pm! It was mainly seniors and my family but it looked way better than their website and the waitresses were very sweet. All tables had reserved signs (so she wasn't kidding earlier) and service was fast at that time. Food came very fast, fresh and hot so my MIL had nothing to complain about! Didn't have room to try dessert but after hearing coffee wasn't fresh ground drip but the syrup machine kind we grabbed the bill. I Have been a seasonal camper at Lakefield campground for 3 years now and am looking forward to the…read more2011 season to start, my 4 kids and I find that the management and staff are very helpful and go the extra mile to ensure that its campers have a relaxed enjoyable experience. The park is quiet with no tolerance for loud noise. The park has a great marsh and you can actually hear and see the wild life. My children enjoy hand feeding and viewing the wild life (also best fishing around). The beach is very well maintained and is a very popular spot to swim and meet people from the surrounding community's. The camp staff also put on a fireworks show every year that puts the city of Peterboroughs to shame!!! The prices are very competitive and worth every penny. I would not recommend this property. From the moment you arrive, you notice the place is run down, dated, and severely overpriced for the value offered. 1. Dated rooms & poor maintenance The rooms feel stuck in time -- the TV and much of the furniture look to be decades old. Water pressure is poor, and my sister and brother-in-law had no water for their pre-wedding shower. Management did not apologize and instead insisted my brother-in-law "didn't know how to turn on the shower." (He has built bathrooms, so this was simply insulting.) 2. No complimentary towels for water activities Beach towels must be purchased -- none are provided for guests. 3. Breakfast with an unusually limited time window While most hotels offer at least a 2-hour breakfast period (e.g., 8:00-10:00), here it was fixed at 9:30 a.m. only. 4. Restaurant closed The on-site restaurant was closed during our stay. When I asked to see the menu, the items seemed oddly upscale for the setting (like something from a Four Seasons) and were priced accordingly. Guests are left to leave the property for meals. 5. Pool and lake issues The pool, while clean, was unheated. The lake is extremely weedy. Outdoor furniture had no cushions, making it uncomfortable. 6. No daily housekeeping Rooms are not serviced during your stay. 7. Key inconvenience Only one key is issued per room. We were told we could leave it at the desk if needed, but the front desk was rarely staffed, so this wasn't practical. In summary: Despite friendly student staff, the outdated facilities, lack of amenities, and dismissive management make this a poor value for the high prices charged. I would not stay here again or recommend it.

When we landed in Toronto I was worried this place wasn't gonna be all that. I was totally wrong. We drove north 2 hours from Toronto and found this place in Buckhorn. Very tucked away in the woods. Very secluded. The lady at the front desk was very welcoming she actually met us outside. She also plays hostess in the dining area. She was very friendly. The dining area has a chef named Dave this guy was the star of the show. Great cook everything in the pics he made. Everything was delicious also he's not afraid to come out and meet you and have a normal conversation with you. The entire staff makes you feel like you are family. I definitely will be back maybe in the spring. I hear there is some great fishing on the lake. Oh and I can't forget to mention the tea that he made......... I am a tea drinker and the tea he made from the berries from a tree out back was phenomenal.

The restaurant is located in a separate cottage house on the property, with a beautiful, serene view by the waters. The service was exceptional. The food from 'forest/farm-to-table' were unbelievable. The mini duck egg omelette, the smoked trout, and the brownie x ice cream dessert with the lavender were my favourite amongst the delicious dishes on the blind tasting menu. You can literally taste the freshness in every bite! In April 2017 last year, Viamede Resort also went tip-free. They believe in paying their staff fair wages from the start, and don't believe they should burden guests with extra fees. The price you see is the price you pay :) I really wish I could keep The Inn at Mount Julian a secret, but I really want to share with the world about this outstanding culinary experience! The menu is not large ( a good thing ! ) but considering the small size of the place there is more than enough choices. The chef is trying to integrate local items into the menu ( spruce tips! ) with some success. Overall our meal, wine, service, and prices were all excellent. This place would definitely appeal to someone who wants a nice evening out after several days of cottaging it.
