This is a hidden gem! I found La Cave de l'Ange Gardien (or Guardian Angles) on this site (trip…read moreadvisor) and yelp as "the #1 things to do in Beaune". I did not know what to expect, but so glad we did it!! I sure agree now, that this is the #1 thing to do in Beaune!! A passionate, knowledgeable, and welcoming husband and wife team introduces you to Burgundy wine, about the region, how to read wine labels, "how to taste Burgundy wines", and food paring. The blind tasting was super fun!! It was the most interesting, educational and fun, eye-opening experience. This is not your typical "wine tasting." I recommend you do this first (when you arrive in Burgundy). The knowledge you'll gain from this tasting experience will benefit the rest of your wine trip in Beaune and Burgundy. We bought a few bottles and they waived the tasting fees, but I believe its only about $10-15, for 3-hour class. (For the value, that's a super bargain!). Reservation is highly recommended. I believe the only way to make a reservation is to call them directly. They speak English so it was super easy and hassle-free to make an appointment by phone.

Pierre greeted us and after our incredible tasting and Pierre's wonderful wit we were very happy and quite grateful we made the effort. Just go!!

Our host used to be a sommelier in Paris and had extensive knowledge of wines and food pairings and great vintages.......he knew his stuff We purchased 2 cases of a mixture of everything we tried and let me tell you it could not have been easier. By shipping to the US, not only was shipping free of charge but we also got a 20% VAT price reduction. Surely made the decision easy to get that extra bottle or 12 since we didn't have to schlep it back in our luggage Arrived within the week via FedEx and the experience from start to finish was such a joy. We look forward to visiting in person again when we're next in region ( hearing about the restaurant, vegetable garden and B&B they are currently under development ) and we also look forward to our next wine order with your wonderful Château

An amazing restaurant and hotel!…read more We stayed in the hotel, given that Puligny-Montrachet was a perfect location for a night to be spend during our biking trip on the wine road of Burgundy. On the suggestion of the staff, we reserved a table at their restaurant and were all but disappointed. First off, the cooking here is amazing. The card is not large, like in most good french restaurants. It's basically the Chef's menu + a couple of options. My partner went with the menu and absolutely liked her courgettes crème with soft cheese as well as the fish, whereas I thoroughly enjoyed my meat cocotte (excellent doneness, excellent sauce, excellent potato grattin) and paté en croute with whites for the latter and reds for the former. For the dessert I ordered their chocolate mousse - excellent, although a bit bitter, that paired extraordinarily well with a red advised by their caviste. Finally, to finish the meal I ordered a Premier Cru Puligny-Montrachet white. It was absolutely amazing - I enjoyed it for a solid half an hour while my partner was enjoying her Champagne Rosé. Their wine collection deserves a special mention. We were tasting the wines by the glass and were advised on the pairings by the staff wine expert. We were pleasantly surprised by how well of pairings the wine expert was recommending, as well as the general quality of the wines. In fact we liked some of them so much, we ordered several bottles after checking out from the hotel. The service is excellent, but the place is all but cheap (count 80 - 250 for a dinner for two, depending on what you order and the wines by the glass that you will order) and requires a certain dress code. But it's totally worth it. The hotel itself gets bonus point for excellent consumables, calm location and high accessibility of all the common spaces and rooms. Overall, excellent experience. On the expensive side, but worth it, especially if you like wines.

This is a Domaine in Chablis that in a few more years may become one of the best producers of…read moreChablis wines out there. First I have to say that out of all the wineries out in the region this is probably the only one from the small producers that uses the website to control the flow of people to their home where they hold the tastings and presentations, which for a person trying to do the appointments from the US it is a big help. We have at the house at the specified time and as I have noticed already in other Burgundy, Alsace, and Champagne produces one need to look for a small plaque rather than a big advertisement of Open like we're used to in Finger Lakes. But I was really concerned for a little while that we were at the wrong place still since it looked more like a residence with a nice garden but reluctantly I rang the bell and Celine came to get us to go to the tasting room. Lo and behold this actually was their house and the tasting room was basically set up in a cellar of it. The tastings were actually ran by both Celine and Frederique and it is always much more interesting to hear stories of wine and land and grapes from the owners/vintners then from a hired hand. The wines were good but just a little shy of what we would have liked but still very very tasty so we got a couple of bottles for dinner that night. One thing of note I have to say that in a few years this couple is likely to get all the kinks of a 3 year old winery out and produce some wonderfully tasty wines. P.S. According to Celine they may be the only winery in Chablis that have a small plot and produce wines from Sauvignon Blanc. This year they also have Sacy, which they didn't have last year when we visited, which means I have to go again (rare grapes) is a particular weak spot of mine.

Our hostess, Celine, had decorated the visitors suite with comfort and shabby chic charm, incorporating all the necessities. There are many maps and guides books to help plan a visit to nearby wineries, villages, towns, historic sights, hiking and biking trails. We arrived at the start of Spring with sunny days and cool nights. The bed is firm with nice linens, the shower has plenty of hot water and the towels are big and soft.. There's a tv and an electric kettle to make a cup of tea and a bottle of her husbands wine to share. Celine prepared a delicious plate of cheeses and charcuterie for our first night and made dinner reservations the next night at a CHABLIS hot spot full of winemakers and local residents just a few minutes drive from Domaine Gueguen. Breakfast is included and featured fresh croissants, baguettes, cheeses, ham, butter, jam, fresh squeezed o.j,, coffee, tea, yogurt and fruit. It is served in her modern kitchen overlooking the garden, swimming pool and rolling hills of Chardonnay vines. Frederic Gueguen offers their guests a wine tasting in the cellar below. He produces several styles of CHABLIS including an unusual variety of Sauvignon blanc in addition to the Chardonnays. We visited nearby Auxerre where we spent a morning seeing the cathedral and the medieval center of half timbered buildings and had a light lunch on the riverside. We highly recommend the Domaine Gueguen B&B and plan to return in future. We had good email communication before arrival.
