    Tagliatelle al Ragu
    Roy S.

Solid restaurant located across from the Ferrari Maranello complex with impeccable ambience, good service and good food. Restaurant is under the control of renowned chef Massimo Bottura. Food was great though I would not say it was the best Italian cuisine I have ever eaten. You can order off of a set menu, paired with wine if you wish, or a la Carte. I chose the latter. They also have an Executive lunch menu which is a very good value. I started off my meal with the Gnocco Fritto (outstanding texture) which came with 36 month aged ham, a fruit compote and ricotta. For my main course I ordered the tagliatelle al ragu--the pasta noodles were perfectly cooked whereas the meat ragu was good, if not great. I washed this down with a glass of Barolo and finished the meal with their "Modna" dessert which was a saucher cake topped with chocolate and caramel sauce with ice cream. A very satisfying meal that came to 77 Euro. Took a bunch of pictures of the indoor sala, some other dishes I saw but did not order and their lovely outdoor terrace. I mentioned I was in a bit of a rush and my meal took about 90 minutes from start to finish.

Everything was top notch. Service very attentive and food was wonderful - outpaced our expectations by a lot. Dining room was half local half tourists. Adjacent to Ferrari factory so to be expected.

On a recent trip to Italy (and a pilgrimage to Ferrari at Maranello) we dined for a 3-hour lunch at Cavallino.

Food is excellent. The wine was very good with a long selection. It was very loud though.read more

We me the chef, Enzo, at a Ferrari event across town. The man running the event introduced us and…read moreurged us to go to his restaurant for the best meal in town. He then told Enzo to take care of his "new" friends. We decided that an offer like that can't be missed so we went there for lunch the nest day. My friend decided to give Enzo our go-ahead to bring out whatever he thought would put a smile on our faces. As you can see from the photo I posted, Enzo was table-side a lot, asking about preferences and potential allergies. We were treated to course after course of great, locally-sourced dishes, every one would be a signature dish for eateries over here in the USA. For example, he sprinkled Parmesan cheese on our risotto (etherial!) and added "aged thirty six months" - and it was rich, creamy and memorable. This small place deserves your attention and a high rating from anyone who understands what it takes to run a memorable restaurant that delivers quality, fair-priced food. In Maranello, the debate is always - Cavallino or Montana - the two most famous restaurants in town. Each has their fans - especially given their Ferrari-centered reputation (Ferrari big-wigs have a private dining room in Cavallino, F1 drivers have memorabilia all over the walls in Montana). However, having eaten at these other excellent places, this place beats them for service, taste, and price. Go, eat, you'll thank me later!
