There are not enough good things that I can say about my family's experience at Rader. My father…read moresuddenly and unexpectedly passed in an accident, so none of us were mentally prepared to be planning his services just days later. What made our experience so special at Rader was the coordinator/director that we were paired with, Leward. We came to the funeral home for the first time to view my father's body and to meet with Leward about arrangements and getting paperwork signed. He was able to read the room perfectly. We were all extremely overwhelmed considering we were all in shock, but he guided us with compassion and patience. He explained every step of the process clearly and slowly. He even made us crack a smile or giggle when appropriate. He did not aggressively push any of the funeral home's services or products on us. We explained that we wanted a celebration of life at our home, and he understood and helped us determine what additional support we would need for the event. He texted us to check in on us leading up to, and even after, the celebration, and assured us that he was there if we needed anything. It was extremely special to have the support and kindness of Rader, and specifically Leward, during the most difficult time of our lives. He made the whole process simple and pleasant. He also dropped the ball several times causing my other daughter to do part of his job for him. After the funeral we met with Chris Stewart and he was very sympathetic and listened to all of our concerns and he said would address them with his staff. The second junior associate did send us an apology note. I would use SFH again with the understanding that Mr. Stewart be involved at every step of the way.

Our beloved mother entrusted Evergreen with providing the headstone and gravesite upon her death, due to our grandmother being buried at the same site. She placed her deposit months prior to her death, and I continued payments in August after she was deceased in April of last year. I sent payments to catch up on the missed payments after she passed away, while keeping track of all payments and statements sent to and from Evergreen. Everything was going as planned until I had an uncomfortable and inappropriate telephone conversation with Marcus, who works in the office, when I spoke to him regarding our mother's account. During this conversation, it took a turn when Marcus began asking inappropriate questions about my personal life. His topic of conversation had NOTHING to do with my mother or the original conversation. I was thrown off guard by the questions and felt very uncomfortable in response to his problematic probing. The conversation did not make sense, so I re-steered it back to the original topic. After this conversation, I immediately contacted my brother and explained the situation. He contacted Mr. Bell and let him know how unprofessional he was towards me, especially someone grieving the recent loss of their mother. From this point on, I had my brother as the new point of contact, so I would not have to deal with Marcus regarding the headstone. In January of this year, my brother contacted Marcus about the final balance on the headstone because we were going to send the last payment. Marcus sent a screenshot of the final balance from his ledger on his computer and assured us it was correct. Meanwhile, the statements sent to us did not reflect the ledger balance, which my brother questioned, yet Marcus assured my brother that the ledger balance was indeed correct. I sent the large final payment, excluding the December $184.00 payment (which had not yet been reflected in the ledger as of the phone call), along with a letter detailing the final payment and a copy of the December statement showing an over-$1,000 discrepancy from the ledger balance and asking Evergreen to reconcile and update their statements. At the end of January, my brother contacted Evergreen again to see if the payment had been received. We were informed that they had not received the payment because payments go to a different off-site P.O. Box and they do not check the box daily. My brother was asked to check back in a few days. He called Evergreen about a week later, and the check had been received. Per Marcus, the payment was IN FULL, and once again, assured us that nothing further was owed on the balance. He then stated that Evergreen would begin working on our mother's headstone and that it would take at least eight weeks to complete. This was at the beginning of February. Scroll to April, received a call from a family member stating that he had just paid off a balance from Evergreen of about $200! I was shocked because we were explicitly told there was no longer a balance as of February. I had my brother contact Evergreen immediately to find out what was going on. The Blake who is in the onsite office tried to tell him that there was yet another $180 owed on the account, and that they had NOT begun the process of creating the headstone! Our family is planning a one-year anniversary trip for our mother this month, which is completely unacceptable. My brother let him know that their records were incorrect, that their business management is unprofessional and unethical with their accounts, that they never reached out to us regarding any balance owed since the conversation in February, that we were NOT paying anything further, and that we expect a headstone by the time we arrive in late April. Evergreen stated that they "dropped the ball," so to speak, and would "eat the $180 and rush costs" to place the headstone order, especially after realizing we were coming to visit. Evergreen didn't think we would notice them adding money to our mother's paid-in-full account, even though I kept detailed records of every statement and payment, along with my mother's records, including written correspondence to back up each payment. So now, the headstone that should have been completed in early April is just now being worked on, after we realized it had never been started because of some "additional balance" nonsense, even though we had already paid the balance in full! How Evergreen treats grieving family members and tries to trick them into paying additional unaccounted-for money is appalling and infuriating. I am just saddened and heartbroken that our mother may not even have a headstone a year after her death. She and our family deserve better than what Evergreen offers, given their poor customer service and questionable business practices.

We had Faithco give estimates on preparing a house to sell…read more There were some elements of their estimate that were reasonable here are the parts that were not. A toilet seat wobbled a small amount. The Faithco plumber said it would be $275-$1000 to fix it. I took a look at it and it took me 15 seconds to tighten the nuts at the base of the toilet. The drip tray of an air conditioner in the attic had been collecting water and draining through a pipe for years, which is not ideal! The drain took a path that zig-zagged up and down a bit. They proposed raising the unit to be suspended from the rafters and replacing the pan. I asked why not just replace the pipe, taking a straighter path and he said that the AC unit sitting on top of styrofoam supports was putting at risk of falling. His quote was $2800 to raise the unit. And he wouldn't offer other options even after I questioned each part. I asked another company and they suggested changing the pan for $1500 and fixing the drain for $500. We went with just fixing the drain for $500. We wanted a quote on replacing a 20+ year old AC system. Faithco couldn't find the model number of the unit on the equipment outside but found a 3 ton furnace in the attic so they quoted us (summer of 2025) $13,800 for a SEER 15.2 3 ton unit and $16,800 for a SEER 16.2 unit. Another contractor found the nameplate and showed it to me (a little hard to find but not really, right on the compressor) and saw it was a 2 ton unit (you can tell it's a 2 ton because the model number ends in "24"). The other contractor subsequently quoted us $10,500 for a 2 ton system and $12,800 for a 3 ton system. The other contractor also pointed out that since the house has a 2 ton unit for the bedrooms and a 4 ton unit for the main living space, high SEER is less important, the unit would mostly be used in the evenings, not all day. I had a follow-up conversation with the Faithco HVAC tech and he doubled-down on believing it was a 3 ton unit even though I told him I saw the model number ending in "24". He said, and I recall it exactly because it was so odd, "In this area, we make sure our our compressors match our furnaces." I bit my tongue but wanted to say, "I agree, but the nameplate I'm looking at still ends in "24"". Faithco recommended replacing 3 AC float switches for $225 apiece. Maybe it was me but I couldn't figure out why we needed them. I don't think they tested the existing units but I'm not sure. Soooo, we went with Evans Air instead.

I cannot express my gratitude enough to Eric and the rest of the staff at Caudle-Rutledge Daughtery Funeral Home. The respect and kindness and the flexibility in working with our needs was far beyond my expectations. My mother was Orthodox Christian so the funeral and preparation was not the norm. By the next day, Eric had done his homework on what a traditional Orthodox funeral would need. He ended up telling me things that I didn't even know. Our priest was so impressed that he intends to refer fellow parishioners to them from now on. Besides the kindness and extra work on their part, there was no up-selling or pressure for more services or higher priced items. My family and I will always be grateful to them. read more

Even though we had a hiccup (one of the unity candles went out) he was able to bring lite humor to the moment defusing any possible nervous tension. Additionally he took the time to get to know us well enough that everyone was comfortable. Many people commented on how much they loved the way he conducted the ceremony and because it felt very personal they also thought we had known him for a long time. Selecting Paster Mabry was one of our best decisions and Sensational Ceremonies made it easy.
