My ophthalmologist referred me to Dr. Curtis and I have had several appointments with him . He is a fine professional who took a great deal of time and care trying to correct my vision issue. He had several pair of special prismatic glasses made for me which unfortunately did not work. He referred me to another ophthalmologist who specializes in muscles issues. Issue is still on-going. However, the woman who deals with the front desk is extremely unprofessional and rude. She gives you the impression that her only concern is squeezing the last dime out of your pocket. I am out close to $700 in glasses that don't work and she wants me to pay for another exam before she will give me an appointment to see the doctor. She offers her "medical opinion" which is in contrast to the ophthalmologist's. Unless you'd like to be tried rudely, and like her personal cash cow, I'd find someplace else. read more

The doctor is very calm and thorough, and explains everything (how the drops would feel, how long they would last, etc). I thought it was great! I had all the time I needed to pick out my frames and I didn't feel pressured at all. I had to make the appointment over a month out but once I arrived, I only had to wait 15 minutes or so to be seen. read more

I thought having a small business would give more personal, helpful service. Boy was I wrong. I ordered my glasses and they didn't work right so I went back, the first time they said it was the wrong prescription and fixed it, but the second time they said it was too long (which is was if you counted the time I had the wrong prescription and the time it took them to fix it). I don't know if this is just an office manager problem, or the medical services are in question, how did I get the wrong prescription? At any rate the persons I spoke with were rude and unhelpful and my prescription was incorrect. read more

Dr. Curtis provides a caring and thorough exam, but unfortunately the way the front office operates has been a problem for me a few times now. Communication with me has been unclear and/or terse in about 50% of my interactions. They failed to tell me to have my contacts in my eyes for at least 20 minutes before arriving for a contact check and insisted on rescheduling, even though I had my contacts with me when I arrived. This was a first thing in the morning appt. and I had to schedule a new appt. after already having taken time off work. No apology was provided. Also, on another visit after having my exam, I was pressured into choosing glasses at that moment. I hadn't seen any frames I liked and wanted to shop around. The woman who worked with me gave me incorrect information about my benefits saying, "Once I submit this form for your exam, your glasses benefits are gone." I had to really ask questions to arrive at her allowing me a time frame of 2 weeks to get back in, as I had to leave for another appt. When I checked with insurance, it was completely inaccurate. I had 90 days and could use my benefits at any other provider. As an aside, when I asked where I could place my travel mug while in the exam, such that it wouldn't be in the way (the office was empty of others at that point) she told me to put it in my car. I try not to take tone too personally, but it was not good and, aside from Dr. Curtis' exam, not a customer service oriented experience. There have been two other minor unprofessionalism issues that I won't detail. I have much better experiences at LensCrafters and other small providers. I won't go back. read more
