MEOW! I bought a groupon to this furballed fun zone and received a coffee and an hour to pet and purr with some cuddly felines. All cats here have been chosen to dwell at catmosphere from a rescue shelter and all of them are readily available to be adopted. The cat-chaperone (Caterone?) was really knowledgable about their habits and names and not surprising-these cats cone and go quite quickly. Which I loved to find out.....adoption rocks! I kinda wished they would of had cat profiles (catfiles?) on the walls with their picture as without our Caterone I didn't know their names. Please don't bring young kids here. The urge to pick them up would be too great...there were some smooshy faces. Lovely afternoon.

My wife has been bugging me to take her here ever since we moved to Sydney and she learned of this place. So this weekend I bit the bullet and surprised her with a booking today at 1 pm. She was over the moon excited and the experience did not let down. When we arrived we greeted right away and our drink order was taken, just as quickly my wife was headed upstairs to as we were on the clock (60 min). When we entered the room it seemed there was only a few cats however the more we looked around, there were cats everywhere! 16 total in the room! As a dog person myself, this experience was actually extremely relaxing, and enjoyable. The staff in the room were very informative and had great stories about each cats. There was also a kitten room, but that is a separate booking. Next time we go we will be doing the kitten room for sure!

I love this place (in part because I love cats, and in part because it's a great place itself!). I made a reservation for six friends and me to play with the cats (and drink coffee/hot chocolate) for an hour. (Tip: they take reservations for the cats - you can walk in, but if it's full, you're out of luck. They seemed pretty busy on the Saturday afternoon when I was there, so I suggest making a reservation). When we arrived, they took drink orders (the price for an hour with the cats - $20 - included a coffee/hot chocolate/tea). We then went upstairs, where they have a room with probably 12-15 cats. We played with the cats for an hour while drinking our drinks. Each of them have space-themed names. The cats themselves were very accustomed to humans, however given the number of people in and out each day, the staff asks that you not pick the cats up. They were great to pet, though. A couple staff members joined us to talk about the cats and the cafe. They gave us some background about the cats, their respective personalities, etc. We had to leave after an hour because another group had booked. It was sad to say goodbye but I will definitely be back!

First time here at the cat cafe, wasn't sure what to expect. The coffee was good, but we didn't get the cookies as part of the $20 entry fee which was a bit of a let down as fairly expensive coffee! We booked for 6pm & got into the room about 6:10pm which cut down our hour session as we were asked to leave at 7pm. What was odd was people from the previous session had not left & were still in the room for at least half our our session, so there were 12 people & 16 cats. The cafe does really good work, socialising the abandoned cats before they go to families for adoption, however I feel the cats were a bit overwhelmed by having so many people demanding their attention. It may need to be monitored better. I think it would work better with 8 people per session & would benefit the cats too. All the cats look well & have lots of toys & places to relax. The staff were friendly & welcoming & happy to explain how the cafe work & the procedures if you wanted to adopt. The cats stay there for 6 months before they can be adopted & checks are extensive.

Cool concept, like Japan. There's a cafe and then you play with cats. We have way more rules and council regulations than Japan, so you can get a coffee or tea (I got a green tea), which you can take inside he room; but has to be in a take away cup with a lid. You also cannot take food in, so you have to eat before or after. It's $20 to play with cats, have a coffee and then they give you a cat shaped cookie. The cats are rescue cats - but now very well looked after and they can be adopted. I sat with a beautiful stray, that was obviously well loved but hadn't been chipped. You can adopt them if you so please. About three tried to bite me, one successfully. There's also a kitten room, but have to book separately. Darren, the man working there was super knowledgeable and lovely. A good place to take kids on school holidays

The Devonshire Tunnel is not something that you choose. It chooses you. Well ... unless you're a…read morebird or a train, the Devonshire Tunnel is the only mobility solution for getting from the Surry Hills side of Central to Railway Square. Though I regularly daydream about being a bird (or a train, for that matter), I'm stuck with these two feet, no wings, and a long tiled tunnel owned by Railcorp. Or at least I think it's owned by Railcorp, because of the incredibly ugly rail-related mural images decorating the tunnel. I agree with Jo - the best (and worst) thing about the Devonshire Tunnel is the buskers. They're Surry Hills standard NOT New Orleans standard, so don't expect miracles. This tunnel is hot and airless, and the art is bad, but one can't help feeling a certain affection for the buskers and the dated tiles. A tip for whoever makes the Railcorp public art: It is never a good idea to run an ordinary digital photograph through multiple "effects" filters on Photoshop and then print it at a large scale in a pedestrian tunnel.

Buskers. Lots of them. Of varying quality but always of interest. The tunnel that leads to Central…read moreStation from Henry Deane Plaza is more than your usual walkway. Clomping tiredly to catch my train, I always look forward to seeing who might be brave enough to stand up and busk today. With less of a tourist element than the buskers you see in tourist hotspots like Circular Quay, the ones here range from the talented to the downright oddball all in search of a gold coin or two that you may have to spare. The other day I passed a dreadlocked guitarist with a surprisingly deep voice and an old bluesman with a face that had seen the devil if not made a bargain with him. I've had some amazing encounters here over the years, from a young Aboriginal artist selling her work, to a glorious untrained operatic voice that swelled right the length of the tunnel. Only when you got close could you see that the owner of that voice stood with a white cane; she was blind. Perhaps the weirdest was a little old lady perched on a stool next to a handwritten sign that said 'Virgin Advice'. As I was running late for my train, I didn't get a chance to ask her whether her advice was in regards to maintaining virginity, or whether her virgin state allowed her a particular authority in giving advice. I've never seen her again, I wish I'd stopped.

I was expecting a small museum that would take 30 minutes max to go through. Thankfully I was so wrong. Before even opening the door of the museum I was greeted by one of the docents who was lovely throughout the tour. The entire tour lasted about 70 minutes and was fascinating. She explained the origins of the hospital and detailed history of the nursing staff who truly started the practice of nursing, as directed and sent by Florence Nightingale. While I was vaguely aware of the Nightingale connection I was surprised to find so many items that were either owned by Nightingale or given to the nurses from Florence Nightingale. With all the objects of the museum donated I think they have a truly remarkable collection, including old medical objects, photos of nursing staff, training uniforms, chemist set, to go bag of pharmaceuticals (for visiting rural areas), and medals received for service in the Crimea War. In general, I think it helps to have a medical background in order to understand how great this collection is and to be able to easily compare the collection to current medical practice. That being said, the docents ask prior to the tour if you have any medical knowledge. The only area of the museum that I didn't enjoy was part of the new wing and was two rooms of medical specimens, including the preserved fetus from an abortion. There were many different cancers (breast, ovarian, colorectal) also on display. I think generally people should be warned prior to going into those rooms. $5 Admission per person, cash only Photos are ok, no flash Will be asked to leave larger items (camera bags, backpacks) in the office Very limited hours!
