Fortunately, my need for the certificate was not urgent, but it is not as though it is a free service. It cost $56 so someone was well paid for what should have been five minutes typing. To rectify the errors on-line, it was necessary to use their "Feedback" link. Surely, simply copying entries from the register is not rocket science. I could understand one error, but three??? I wait in anticipation for the correct Certificate.

I'm actually impressed with the efficiency of NSW Births, Death and Marriages…read more A very good ticketing queuing system and staff are very friendly and helpful and I didn't have to wait more than 10 minutes at lunch time. The lodgement of my daughter's birth registration was easy and the certificate was ready, as promised, in two weeks for collection. The only problem I had was that when I checked the birth certificate before I left (which you should always do), and what staff will advise when they hand over the envelope. My wife's last name was spelt incorrectly (despite it being clear on the application). This meant I then had to travel upstairs and have an interview and explain that it was a French last name and the correct way to spell it was a Cap "C" after La! It seems staff go off the "proof of ID" photocopies that are submitted with the application (such as passports or driver license that spell names all in caps), rather than the application form filled out by the humans that know how to spell their names properly. A new certificate was produced as I was there with the correct name but then I was queried whether another piece of information on the certificate was correct, that is, whether Hawai`i was actually part of the United States!! The interviewer got a prompt history lesson of the great 50th State of the USA for his sins (and that Hawaiian separatists would welcome his views but until such time when Queen Lilluokalani's ousting in 1893 is avenged, the Hawaiian Islands fly the Star Spangled Banner). I wonder if he would ever question someone from Tasmania being Australian? Oh, and no, I don't want United States of America shortened to USA on the certificate (do they shorten Australia to Oz or Aust)? But thanks for asking. NOTE: would have been four stars (even despite the certificate correction), if I didn't have to give the history and geography lesson.

At the first time, it was so busy and really long cue. I was wondering if I can make it before closing time. There were so many customers and so few attendants. Eventually, I made it but I had to return again. They don't have printers connected to computers, so even I completed the forms on the computer I couldn't print it out there. Next time I came back here with printed documents and I found out I needed to bring passport copy as well! I wasn't advised that. Anyway, I came back again some weeks later and this time I made it! Should I give just two stars? Well, attendants were always nice and helpful to me, so I will give them three stars! But of course, there are some rooms for improvement.

I've never had the chance, however, and it's not really something you can just invite yourself along to. As luck would have it though, the psychotic ex-girlfriend of one of my good friends obliged me with the opportunity to go to court. AND to be taking sides with the defendant and sitting in his, you know, his little area. Whatever that's called. Schweeeet. I knew what would happen: first we'd hustle through a media scrum with jackets over our faces shouting "No comment!" Then we'd get a police escort, who'd lead us through long hallways lousy with drunks and handcuffed robbers - some wearing masks - and skeezy prostitutes trying to stab anyone they can reach with their stilettos. Sadly, it was a slow day at Downing Centre. We were pretty much the only ones there. Our lawyer was wearing fake tan. Theirs had vitiligo. It was super weird. The judge turned up just in time for us to apologise and tell him we'd reached a settlement, neither side's bluff having worked. So. It may have been a little sanitised, depressed even, but I can strike fantasy #3 off my list. On to #4. Anyone know where Megan Fox lives these days?

take far too long to respond to issues…read more Twice I have had to report an incident - separate issues. Location of incident is no more than 10mins down the road (in Alexandria) After waiting 3hrs, I drove up to the Station myself as after calling several times to find out when someone would come to the address - could not get a response. When I went into the station, they were NOT busy !! Another incident when they attended a situation of robery in the street, where contents were left all over the street, I called the office to our place over the road where a bike and other items were dumped at our driveway. He seemed very uninterested in having to take a look and just said, does not look like stolen items !!! I knocked on doors myself as I knew of some homes where they had kept bikes on their porch, and it did belong to one of those people !!! Had the officer done his job as he should have, and when those people had called about their stolen bike, he should have told them about the bike I alerted him to ! When these people called the station, they said nothing of it to them, just took their report. BAD FORM - Redfern Police Station Really BAD FORM !!!

I used to live in Redfern from 2019-2020 at Iglu Student Accommodation which is just besides this…read morepolice station. During my tenancy at Iglu, I faced numerous threats made by residents who use drugs, physical threats towards me captured on CCTV, as well as assaulted me on 16 December 2019 by throwing burning cigarettes and touching me. I approached the police officers working in this "police station" on numerous occasions then to request for help and to get an AVO, and was refused point blank to file a complaint or be given any assistance. The police even lied to me that they don't issue AVO's from this particular station - which is nonsense! One of the officers even said "so what, many people do drugs in Australia, it is not a big deal!". Iglu's management even showed copies of my passport through a RA's phone to one of the residents threatening me, and the police were less than helpful even then. I would also like to mention how Iglu's management tried to scam me of my bond money and deleted footage of the assault on me to cover up evidence, and my doubts are true that the cops at this station get some form of benefit from Iglu's rotten management to turn a blind eye to their malpractices. I do not recommend this police station to anyone as the officers working here are corrupted, lacking in morals and are basically wasting taxpayer money by sleeping on their job. They are more interested in other practices, rather than their job duty of protecting vulnerable people and the public at large. Don't hesitate to report their misconduct to the ICAC if you felt that they are abusing their power and lying, as such police officers contribute nothing but bad morale and repute to our country and society! Although it has taken me over 2 years to put down this review, I hope those reading this know that the cops working at Redfern Police Station care a damn about their job and will never help you even if you are in the worst of situations!

This library building was designed by Kengo Kuma & Assoc. of Japan and occupies floors 2 & 3…read more The main floor has access to public computers, an inviting lounge, meeting rooms to rent, a Maker Space with 3D printing and all kinds of cool electronic bits for checkout. This is a community library and ABSOLUTELY gorgeous. On floor 1 there are a host of restaurants and bars! Out front there is seating and even a little grass area with tables & umbrellas. This is worth visiting just to see the building! As a tourist you could also relax, read & catch up on email~

I've browsed lots of university libraries in the US, and I'm not sure if it's due to the fact that…read moreAustralia is a smaller country or the university is smaller than the ones I'm used to, but Fisher is quite small compared to what I expected. There are essentially two parts of the building; one section stocks all of the books (only non-fiction) and the other is filled with computers and workstations. The former goes up to the 9th floor while the latter only goes to 5th if I recall correctly. Considering how many students go to the university and how many I expect there to be filling this place up once the semester actually starts, I'm pretty surprised there aren't more desks crammed into this place. But! I will say that if you do get a workstation, you're definitely not crammed in your space. The ground floor (3rd floor) and 4th floor understandably are the most popular floors and therefore the desks and computers need a bit of clean up since some students are irresponsible and exhibit signs to indicate they believe fairytale mice follow them to clean up their mess. Not sure how often the janitorial crew get around, but I've visited this place a few times in January and it wasn't pretty to look at. If this is any indication of what it will be like when semester starts for students on regular academic schedule, I will likely be trying to find a spot on the topmost floors or maybe the public library. Other than that, tight security as you need a student card to enter and exit the building and the guard checks as you go in (perhaps it won't be this strict when semester starts?). The 4th floor has two of those nap pads which are convenient if you absolutely cannot keep your eyelids open and need to nap for 20 min or less.
