If I could leave a 0 stars would be better. I tried doing a donation drop off on 5.28.26 their sign said "donations drop off closed for the day" I called the next day before I went. They told me over the phone that they were open for donations. I went like an hour or so later and they told me donation drop offs were closed. The guy said "you should have came earlier" what does that mean? to do a drop off at their convenience. Smh. I was only dropping off a small bag of un-worn shirts and sweaters that are brand new with tags valued at $60 each sweater and it was 3. I couldn't drop them off... It's not like if I was dropping off a bunch of junk on them. Don't waste your time trying to DONATE & drop off at this place because most likely they will have a sign that they are closed for donation drop offs bad experience. I'll donate my free stuff elsewhere. What a waste of time and gas to try to make a FREE DONATION...! read more

Catholic Charities - Thrift Stores Near Me - Santa Barbara, California

This place has a little of every thing you can think of, but prices are on the high end. I would not recommend going there unless you are looking for a particular used item. Furniture has high sale tags but clothing is reasonably cheap under three dollars. Came looking for some used t-shirts to workout in and wasn't disappointed with the amount of money I paid. The Santa Barbara store on Haley St. is a very good store. They have nice clothes (no raggedy things) and lots of good housewares. They run specials as well so the prices are decent but not all are cheap. The men who run it are hard workers! read more

Delightful little secret tucked away on Haley Street that is run with so much heart. The front building provides a food pantry to the needy in town and the back building has a wonderful thrift shop. Lots of turnover, its good to check in occasionally becomes they get some fabulous furniture and kitchen items, leather jackets, mens shirts. One of Santa Barbara's best thrift shops. read more

Here is another hidden gem on Haley. The fact that they use the proceeds to feed and clothe the less fortunate is a very good thing indeed. The staff here are very nice and the place is well organized and clean. Don't forget to go up the ramp to the furniture room. There can be some cool finds here as well as the usual stuff. I needed some ice cube trays and there they were for .50 cents each. Sweet deal! read more

Catholic Charities offers services for those who are low income. When arriving the most visible section is the thrift store. Like Goodwill, it's Santa Barbara cheap meaning inexpensive but not "thrifty." Myself, I love to pick up paperback novels that I will read once and recycle. This store helps support the large range of services Catholic Charities offers our community. Upon entering the parking lot, to your left is the office. Inside you can apply for access to their food pantry, counseling, help to keep you from becoming homeless, vouchers for a state identification and much more. To your right is the food pantry. Once you pick up your food card you bring it here and will find quite a bit of food to supplement your shopping. To determine eligibility you bring in a recent piece of mail, proof of income, government ID and bank statement. If eligible you can pick up food ranging from fresh fruit and veggies, peanut butter, bread and salads from Trader Joes. Do bring your own bags. Also, for your first visit you do not need to bring all the paperwork. This was handy for my friend who was recovering from heart surgery. He wasn't eligible for weekly food as it is for low, not no, income. They still encouraged him to access the food pantry. It's not every charity that basically thrusts their help into your hands! read more

I have been a thrift store shopper most of my life. This place used to be reasonable. Instead of pricing all like items the same price they price each item individually. Which means any brand is over priced. 15 dollars for a used pair of shoes is way to much. Or a common sweater 20 dollars. I no longer go there and I advise you not to either. I used to go to Catholic Charities when I was in need of food. I started to notice that when I would bring food home from there I was getting bugs in all my cupboards and the food would be rotten(produce that is) I was in the grocery store one day speaking to the produce dept. asking them if they had any produce they were getting ride of. That's when he told me that all the produce they get rid of goes in the back of the store in the big trash bins and Catholic charities picks it up every day. I was appalled, so I drove around back to take a look, sure enough, the bin was full of produce with bugs crawling all over it. This is so disgusting. To think I have been getting food from this place for quite some time. How can this be allowed to the low income people of Santa Barbara. I grew up in this town, I think Santa Barbara can do better than that for its people. read more

This thrift shop walks the walk! Prices on some items can be steep but I love supporting this organization. Almost every time I am there, a homeless person or a person in a treatment program there picking out free clothing for themselves. The workers are so kind and respectful to the person and it is a pleasure to witness. I donate here and shop to help this organization. The real deal!!! read more

Catholic Charities Read our review guidelines Eek! Methinks not. Recently paid for a futon sofa bed with instructions to deliver it the next day. I asked that it be marked "Sold" and specifically that it not be used to stockpile merchandise on it. Stopped back an hour or so later. It had not marked as sold, merchandise was piled on one end and a rather large lady was sitting on it. No effort had been made to notify staff or customers that the it was not be used. I asked for a refund and was told there was a no return policy. That policy was not noted on the receipt I signed. The clerk then pointed out a sign, not prominently displayed, hanging from the ceiling. That was not pointed out to me at the point of purchase. I pointed out I was not returning the merchandise, it had never left the store, Spoke with Brian Clark, manager of Catholic Charities. He agreed a refund would be appropriate. However the store manager, Chris, with whom I had had a run in some months prior to this incident, apparently harbors a resentment. As of today, he is still refusing to authorize a refund. read more

Its a thrift store plane and simple, the mens section wasn't that big but i found a barley used "if at all" pair of $75 shoes for 7 bucks. my girlfriend found a hole bag full of clothes she said she just had to have. I paid for everything and it came out to be $28. All in all id keep going back its clean cheap and has a good variety. read more

If I could leave no stars, I would. If you can pick through the jam packed warehouse and by chance find something you want, it will cost twice as much as its value brand new. From the looks of it and type of merchandise we expected thrift store pricing, but they operate with prices befitting a high end consignment shop while selling things like Mossimo. They have potential, but the staff needs a reality check with the pricing. We left empty handed because we couldn't justify the cost for second hand off brand items. read more

The place is horrible. I was there to buy something I was holding waiting for my wife to finish and a customer that was at the register buying something said that he wanted to buy when I was holding and they sold it to him! I said I'm buying this and the woman said I can't keep track of everything people want to buy. I had been standing near the register only five feet away from her for about 5 minutes holding the item. I even told her I was going to buy it I'm just waiting for my wife to finish. That's when this other customer secretly paid for it and took it away. I've had other strange encounters at the store also. Sometimes everything is 50% off the marked price and then the next time you go in it's not. read more

Doing GOOD in our community! I love shopping here because I regularly see the people who receive Catholic Charities vouchers from this store using their vouchers to get actual items they need like clothing, a belt or some blankets. The guy who works at the front counter and is a manager here is always very nice and helpful to the guests using their vouchers; I've often seen him helping new employees learn the register, helping them understand pricing, or learn customer service techniques to gain job skills. Yes, a few of the items are on the high side for thrift but, the money you spend here goes to a GREAT cause through this charity! read more
