Specialties
My objective as a photographer is to enter your lives & document it as it is now. I'm not interested in matching outfits, contrived moments or having to sit still. When you look at your photos together in the years to come, I don't want you to say "wow, catherine was a great photographer." I want you to be able to say "look at us... look at this time in our lives," and remember it just as you see it. This is your life & these are your memories, and I'm just here to make them tangible for you. To make them something you can hold, and admire... to love & to share.
I specialize in film photography, weddings & events, family photos, birth stories, and boudoir sessions. I specialize in documenting life.
This studio's success is based on momentous occasions; our business philosophy is to nurture enduring relationships with our clients as you grow through life's changes and our artistic philosophy is to stay true to the beauty of life & to capture sweet memories exactly as they happen.
History
Established in 2006.
I am a film-lover, and I find myself lucky enough to have discovered my love of photography when I did. I have trained at small and large studios, and gained a vast knowledge of shooting manually with a variety of cameras, as well as learning the development process of film photography. I started my own business in 2006, after over ten years of building a portfolio that mainly included family & friends as well as the experience I gained by working for other studios, and have since expanded my experience to include using professional digital camera equipment & high-end editing suites to compliment my film expertise.
I now enjoy photographing weddings, births, families, boudoir, and I even get to do so with a little travel in between... and find that my years of experience combined with my passion for the many lovely journeys of life & love are what attract people to my work. Life, love, & all the beautiful moments that happen every day.
Meet the Business Owner: Catherine A.
I am a photographer based in Seattle, but with big dreams of one day living the true vagabond life & traveling the world in my VW van named Priscilla. My life here in Seattle involves lots of rain, coffee & beer... and more importantly, lots of time spent with my husband Michael, our teenage daughter Madeline, and our two weird dogs O'Malley & Sable. On a regular day, you can find us doing one of these three things: snuggling on the couch, walking around & eating our way through town, or spontaneously hitting the road for camping, hiking & surfing adventures.
My personality very much shows up in my work; in general, I think I would be described as happy, loving, genuine & pretty silly, and I know that those words also fully describe how I approach my work & how I want the world to see my photography. I am truly fascinated by the stories of where we come from & the stories that we create, and feel so lucky having found my passion in documenting these stories for people in love.
