My husband came in to get a graduation card for our grandson this morning expecting to use his "buy…read moreso many cards and get one free" card from the Solid Rock. The sales person told him they do not accept them anymore and would not honor the free card. He paid for the card and then changed his mind and asked for a refund but was refused the refund. He left the card there on the counter and walked out. He has bought many cards and presents there for many years and now will be taking his business elsewhere.

So when there was a brochure in our hotel for a place that gave you a free cookbook just for stopping by, I decided it was a necessary stop to make on our trip down I-80. This place is so cool-- it's the store attached to the Morris Press plant, where they print cookbooks compiled by PTO's, churches, sports teams, and cults for organizational fundraisers all over the country. I found one made by a synagogue with a ton of Passover recipes and kugels, and took a free cookbook from Louisiana that had a recipe for barbecued alligator meat." Other highlights included Luetta's personal recipes gathered by her children, and one made by a group in Glenview, IL (so close to Highland Park, my hometown!) So unique, so unusual.
