We had lunch for the first time at Catfish Campus in Columbia. They have been around for ages, but for some reason we have never eaten there. The food was absolutely delicious and we had the sweetest lady to wait on us. It's the first time we have ever had pickled green tomatoes...yum! Never heard of them before. We ended up bringing home half of my chicken dinner and a 16 oz. container of the pickled green tomatoes. We will definitely be going back! read more

This is worth the drive off the interstate. It's true what others have said. The hush puppies are some of the best anywhere. And they serve them with pickled tomatoes and the combination, I don't know, there's just something really great about it. The sides are fantastic as well. I give my highest recommendations to the green beans and potato salad. The catfish is fresh and comes out hot. The service is probably the best you'll find. I had a refill on my Diet Coke before I even finished half of my first. My server was on it. I'd give the place five stars, but I found the breading on the catfish to lack a tad on the seasoning side. Mixed with the tartar sauce it is quite good, but without I think you'll find it a little bland. But other than that, it's a fantastic restaurant. Definitely stop if you're in and around Columbia. read more

Awesome place to eat. The new place has a lot more room and more comfortable seating. They still have the green tomatoes to start you off with. All the food is excellent and the pricing is lower than I expected for quality catfish! Our waiter was very courteous and knowledgeable about everything. We didn't have to wait long for our orders. Our traditional Friday lunch is fried catfish back in Arkansas. The fish at Catfish Campus was great. Large pieces. Very tasty. Service was prompt and attentive after seating ourselves. If you like fried everything in a restaurant that looks to have been a Chinese restaurant with rundown decor and sticky tables then this is your place. We have been to the Catfish Campus twice now. First the service: Super attentive and polite. We had different waiters and they were all excellent. The food: if you like Catfish, this is the place. Great Mom and Pop place located in a former Chinese restaurant--notice the architectural motifs. Order the little bite--three lightly battered catfish, coleslaw and unlimited hush puppies. Even though, it is the South, you can still get unsweetened ice tea here, too. On Friday nights they get slammed so service is a little slow, but the food is worth the wait. This used to be my favorite place for catfish. However tonight the service was unbelievably poor. Two young me with all the ambition of your average head of cabbage. I'm not big on southern fried fish meals, maybe once a year I'll eat it but this place was great the food was wonderful and very well cooked, staff was friendly and I like they didn't have any religious decor or memorabilia in this place like you'll see and most small southern style mom and pop restaurants in the south I was impressed I'll definitely be back. read more

The food was very bland! Nothing tasted great and the catfish was the only part worth an extra star. Everything is deep fried and tasteless! The restaurant looks great from the outside and we were really looking forward to our dinner, but when we went inside it was awful. It looks like they ran out of money on the renovations and you can clearly see that this used to be a Chinese restaurant before. Dined at 2:30 on a Monday. Was greeted with hush puppies and pickled green tomatoes. Our drink order was taken and served within 5 minutes. The server was patient with our order and put it in right away. We enjoyed the cornbread and tomato relish (dunk them puppies in the vinegar) and waited only 15 minutes for our order. The fried oysters, fantail shrimp, slaw and turnip greens were all very good. Crispy, hot fried seafood is the best. The tab for 3 adults was less than 50 bucks with gratuity. This is my go to spot! I am not from Columbia but I travel from Nashville to work here 5 days a week. I eat catfish campus at least once a week but usually more like 2 or 3. Their food is amazing, love the pickled green tomatoes you get with each meal, and the service is great also! I have only tried a few things from the menu although I want to try so many more!
