Word of advice to anyone thinking about Vivint. We were talked into a total household system about…read morefour years ago. Everything worked fine for a bit. Now thermostats are offline glass breakage died none of the door locks work. Had some hot shot young sales people stop by months ago promising to get a tech out to get us fixed and absolutely no response. Have called multiple times to schedule a tech and have received absolutely run around from barely speaking English client support. I just pulled the control panel off the wall and killed the system . Tired of the equipment failure alarms and TOTAL lack of customer service. Will be removing all Vivint door locks and thermostats this week. Think long and hard before they sell you anything!!

RUN AWAY IF A SALES REP KNOCKS YOUR DOOR!!!!!!!…read more I was approached by a very pleasant Rrep from Vivint/Fortiva( their finance company Vivint uses) and was approved for ALL the equipment I wanted. They surprised me with same day service with 2 pieces of equipment being shipped in a few days. Installation went smoothly, installer was nice. The extra equipment arrived in timely manner. BUT 2 MONTHS LATER: I receive a past due bill for close to 1000 dollars. I was on autopay. So no late payments here. I called. It was for the amount OVER what Fortiva said my acct was allowed. AT NO TIME DID THE REP SAY THERE WOULD BE EXTRA CHARGES. AND WHY SEND ME ANYMORE EQUIPMENT IF SO???? This was supposed to be simple and now am told pay 3 times the original amount for 6 months or no service. I ask the rep at Vivint to check if the company would lower it and for a longer period, Julio ( sp) said he would call me, i waited a monthbtalked to a diff rep and she left a msg for him to call. NO CALLBACK. This when I receive a letter from a collection agency for almost double the owed amount. So now vivint wants me to pay a reactivation fee of over 600 dollars, and said the collection agency would be withdrawn. It is funny that my last statement had available credit from Fortiva, yet that balance wasnt never applied to it yet I was invited to buy something with my available credit...... So my advice, If you want Vivint: DON'T ALLOW THEM TO INSTALL UNTIL YOU HAVE CONFIRMATION ON THE CREDIT. AND dont fall for the " we are working in the neighborhood reason". I FEEL SO USED AND IN A SENSE, VIOLATED..... ( excuse any misspelling as my phone or Yelp, wont allow me to use my cursor to correct anything, Yelp? Is it you or my phone? Please answer that for me please. Thank you) Oh the equipment that was sent to me was never installed, I offered to send it back to lower the amount and Vivint REFUSED. Flat out said no. Now does that sound customer friendly????? SO NOW BECAUSE OF A SLICK TALKING SALES REP I NOT ONLY HAVE A SECURITY SYSTEM THAT WORKS BUT NO MONITORING SERVICE, I AM GOING TO HAVE A VIVINT AND/OR FORTIVA FORCED COLLECTIONS MARK ON MY CREDIT SCORE. I did just read an article where Vivint lost a 20 mol class action lawsuit for similar techniques. Just search it on Google.

Do not use this company or service. I used this company last year after my father died to place an…read morealarm system in his house which was sitting unoccupied, as I lived out of state. The only option I was offered was a three year contract, which I reluctantly agreed to as there was no immediate plans for the house. A couple months later, the house was unexpectedly sold. (It was a family decision that I did not have much input into.) My wife and I called ADT and they said we could transfer our contract to our own home no problem. Well, my wife and I live in Alaska and they do not offer service here. Surprisingly, the ADT rep we were talking to said all they could do for us was cancel our contract and that would be that. This was a pleasant surprise since I was expecting to have to pay up the remainder of the contract (I did sign it, after all.) So we walked away thinking ADT was a solid and caring company. Fast forward SIX MONTHS later; I'm back to life as usual in Alaska. I get woken up by a phone call at 6am Monday morning. It's ADT's internal collection agency "Defender" and they want the $725.12 remaining on my contract. We explain to them that ADT had told us the contract was terminated and everything was amicable. They said the contract was NOT with ADT but with the local dealer that installed it and that if we did not pay it would go to collections. Also, (this is the best part) that they had been attempting to contact us for the last six months. I find it difficult to believe, they had been trying to contact us for six months seeing as how they just called my cell phone, which I have with me 24/7, and I just answered. So I tell them to snail mail me the bill so I can get some documentation because they have already told me the contract was over once, so I'm having some trust issues with them and to please not call so early. Rep said their records showed I lived in the Central Time Zone. I told them I was in Alaska and she said they did not have the option for Alaska but she would change me to Pacific so we wouldn't get any more early morning calls. 5am that Friday morning, guess what? Phone rings. Same people, same problem. During the course of several conversations through the day, my wife had pointed out a couple of concerns regarding the wording of the contract. Funnily enough when these were voiced, ADT decided they would give us a "discount" and knock off $100 owed. (FYI, according to the FTC it's against federal law for them to call before 9am or its considered harassment.) To make a long story short, I paid. I did sign a contract; I was never intending to welch on it or try to get out of it. Like the Lannisters, I pay my debts. HOWEVER, I do have a problem with them harassing me at early morning hours, threatening me with collections, and LYING to me about trying to reach me for six months. That alone, made me not want to pay on principality. Between ADT and the local dealer, they don't know what's going on. They are unorganized, lying bullies. These are not the people you want in charge of protecting you, your loved ones or your home. Go to your local electronics store and buy your own security equipment that will alert your smart phone and cut these moronic middle men out of it.
