My experience at Fortis has been nothing short of life-changing. Every instructor played a role in…read moreshaping me into the medical professional I am becoming, and I want to acknowledge them individually. Dr. K -- Tough? Absolutely. But every ounce of his toughness came from seeing our greatness before we could see it ourselves. Because of his technique and high standards, I know how to draw blood with confidence. Now that I'm out on externship, I still hear his voice in my head reminding me to stand out, be proficient, and carry myself with professionalism. His approach was never easy, but it was always for the betterment of our success. Ms. Jowers -- Truly the backbone of our program. She works tirelessly around the clock to make sure we're squared away. No matter how busy she is, she always finds time to help students fix errors, understand the process, and keep moving forward. She never wants to see us fail, and her dedication to Fortis, to herself, and to all of her students is unmatched. Ms. Sledge (Program Director) -- She doesn't get nearly the credit she deserves. She is always looking out for her MAs, often putting herself in the line of fire without recognition. She is sharp, has a heart of gold, and genuinely wants her students to excel. She's the type of leader who changes lives quietly but powerfully. Ms. Welch -- Teaches insurance, billing, and coding with the sweetest spirit. Honestly, I despised that class at first, but she never let me give up. She made sure I was prepared for state boards, and even though I don't touch insurance at my externship, I've realized how beneficial it was to learn coding. I'm so thankful for her patience, kindness, and thoroughness. Mr. Ntumi -- Another tough cookie who didn't play about his subject. His brilliance and discipline in teaching anatomy made me retain knowledge I still use today. He set the tone early on: take this seriously, because it matters. His commitment was to our success, and it showed in every lecture and quiz. Overall: My Fortis journey was amazing. As long as you stay focused and driven, you will succeed here. This school sometimes gets a bad rep from people who didn't take it seriously, but for those of us who showed up, did the work, and stayed dedicated -- it was both challenging and fun. I can proudly say I was more than prepared stepping into externship, and I already have opportunities lined up for hire as soon as it ends.

True rating is ZERO! I enrolled in the EKG Technician course at Allheart AHEC, paying $799 with the…read moreexpectation of gaining certification and being prepared for the state exam. Unfortunately, the experience was riddled with issues from the start. Orientation began late because no one was there to open the facility, and the session ended early due to missing materials. The course itself was poorly managed--materials provided were minimal, communication was sparse, and progress was nonexistent. Despite repeated promises of new content and assessments, nothing was delivered on time. By December, I learned I was the only student left, and the instructor admitted they don't prioritize small classes. The owner was unprofessional and even told me, I should have signed up for phlebotomy because everyone takes that course and you can only work in a hospital or cardiologist's office with an EKG certification. Why are you selling a course you don't even believe in? When I requested a refund due to their failure to deliver on their commitments, I was dismissed, pressured to enroll in other courses requiring more money, and falsely accused of not showing up to classes that were never scheduled. To this day, I've received no refund or resolution. This business is unorganized, unprofessional, and untrustworthy. Do not waste your time or money here--find a more reputable institution. Prior to enrolling I had a difficult time finding reviews on this place. After dealing with this I finally thought to switch browser. I came across the Chamber of Commerce where there were negative reviews about unprofessionalism and refusing refunds and also charging more. Please, if you have a bad experience with a business write reviews and file formal complaints with the BBB, Department of Consumer Affairs and the Attorney General. Or just go to small claims court if necessary. Small businesses do not have the right to breach their contracts and commit fraud. Refusing to provide a refund while pushing other more expensive courses to make more money is fraud!

Also, a benefit is they are locally and Black owned, so they have a vested interest in preparing students to be the best they can be!

Learning is individualized for the student and as an inclusion school , ALL students are welcome. Teachers are caring and the principal has terrific skills working with children and their varying needs. It really is a school you need to visit to fully understand. I highly recommend this school for a small school it has so many big things- heart and love are two of them. Your child will be exposed to Jesus and learn to pray as well. Go and visit it!

However, this school is one of the best things to happen to our children in a long time (aside from having awesome parents). The teacher to student ratio is very low, so you know that your child is getting the attention that they need. This school is K-8, and tends to attract and serve those families who have children with special needs. Scholarship programs are available as well for families who qualify. A new principal this year is working hard with the school and community to ensure that SJCS becomes more in tune with the community and has done a lot of work to give the school a face lift over the summer. Parent involvement is high and activities are provided after school and on weekends, both for students and parents. Many children use this as a stepping stone to work their way in to local public schools, but several stay all the way through graduation to high school, and alumni often come back to help out in various ways.
