Seafood is my favorite food -- all types (with the exception of raw oysters!). I had the fried combo plate of fried oysters and fried fish. It was fabulous; 100% delicious. We got a basket of hush puppies to share among 4 people; make sure you order the basket. They were fantastic (love the sauce that came with them). I have eaten fried fish everywhere I have lived: several areas of Mississippi, Alabama, Louisiana, Texas and Georgia. Catch 22 has the best, the absolute best, of anywhere I have been. I sincerely wish the owners would consider opening one in my area. I can assure them it would be a winner! We do not have any seafood restaurants in this part of Georgia and citizens are begging for one. I have never had an unsatisfactory experience at Catch 22. I frequent it often for in dining eating as well as take out. The service is excellent, and the food is always delicious. My favorite is the shrimp poor boy. You can't beat it. The daily specials are also great. read more

My wife and I have been going to Catch 22 for several years. The reasons are simple ... the food has been uniformly excellent, the prices are modest and the wait staff are simply outstanding. We like this restaurant and almost always have a great experience. One time when they were crowded and understaffed we had the bartender for a waitress and she had too much to do so our service was not good. Most other times the service and the food was very good. Wow, so good!! My Boyfriend and I were in the area for the weekend and thought we would try it. Everything we had was amazingly good! We started with spinach and Artichoke dip with pita chips, and the chips were warm and tasted homemade (or they did a really good job of heating them up.) I ate lunch at Catch 22 yesterday. I ordered one of the lunch specials that was described by the server as a deconstructed shrimp and grits. What I got was three small fried grit cakes and two (yes TWO) fried shrimp. The portion would have been skimpy as an appetizer. The price tag was even more surprising coming in at $15.99. The grit cakes were bland even with the sauce that was drizzled over them and the shrimp were soggy and greasy. Such a disappointment. I will not be back. read more

Stopped in here while on the road, and overall it was a good choice for the area. Good Inland seafood is hard to find, and this place does a pretty good job. Lunch prices are reasonable, the food came quickly, and was overall pretty good. The calamari appetizer was a generous serving, and tasted reasonably fresh and cooked well. The broiled flounder platter was good, if a little on the bland side, seasoning-wise. Sides of grits and onion rings were good, but nothing to write home about. A good experience overall, and I'm happy with choosing this restaurant, but I'd be interested in exploring other parts of the menu in the future. read more

Service was the worst I've experienced at a restaurant. It took 2 hours for our party of 4 to finish our meal AFTER being seated. Other tables that arrived after us were getting their checks before we got our appetizers. Server and manager had very poor attituded and did a terrible job trying to make up excuses for their poor service. So I went to Catch 22 last night for a girl's dinner out. I ordered the Atlantic Salmon with sugar snap peas and collards.... I also had a Cranberry Moscow Mule and an Orange Moscow Mule. I've honestly not been to catch 22 for at least a year just because we don't go out much with the kids. I never order Salmon anywhere but Longhorn because every other place I have tried it it's absolutely overcooked. Catch 22 far exceeded my expectations! The Salmon was perfectly cooked and melted in my mouth! The flavor was wonderful and texture was tender "like butta!" Anyway the veggie sides were crisp yet tender and I thoroughly enjoyed my meal! The drinks.. also perfection.... I liked both but the Orange was my favorite Mule by far! The prices for this great fabulous and delicious meal were typical and well worth every penny! My husband was quick to give this place 4 stars. He said everything was fine but it was a little expensive. After some hesitation, I decided on a 3 star rating. Even though the waitress promised that the She Crab Soup was as good as that found in Charleston, I was disappointed. I give them a 3 for the She Crab Soup because they did have the required sherry. However, I would give them a 5 star rating or more for the spinach dip appetizer. That was hot and delicious and the bread was perfectly toasted. I would definitely recommend this appetizer. This was our first experience dining here. I had heard so many nice things about this place. I was a bit disappointed. We arrived on a weekday about 5:30 so we beat the evening rush. Yet, the restaurant was rather loud. The music was loud. The lights were a little bright and you could easily hear other conversations. The atmosphere wasn't upscale or cozy/ intimate as I had expected. Appearances from the outside are a bit deceiving on this. From the outside, It looked to me like a good place for a relaxing "date" type environment, but I don't think so now. One funny thing...... After we had finished our meal, the waitress asked us if we wanted dessert. I asked what they had. She gave me a list and said "lemon meringue, fresh this morning". I love catch 22. Very good food but this evening, I ordered food to go. I felt the bag was extremely light. I got home and though I have all my food, I expect a more decent portion size for $18.71. I get more food when I dine in. In fact, I have had more food for less money when I have eaten there for lunch. This is really disappointing. The restaurant is quite good compared with others in the Chapin area. Came for lunch. I like the seafood emphasis of the restaurant and menu. Outside of that there is good variety that adds depth to the menu. They have wraps, sandwiches, and a nice variety of appetizers. I ordered the shrimp platter with grits and slaw as my sides. The food was not memorable in either a good or bad way. The grits were good. The shrimp was not bad but not great. The sweet tea was not bad but not as sweet as I prefer. The 3 stars is primarily due to the food. It was decent but not great. I think the overall experience was along the lines of four stars and this place is certainly worth a second visit. read more

For a small town, it is a nice restaurant. A little pricey. Very friendly staff. Have eaten there several times in the past and you also get plenty to eat. However, the most recent visit we got what they recommended for appetizer. Disappointed...Artichoke and Crab...had a lot of cheese and Artichoke. Was still trying to find the crab when my meal came out. This night, the waitress also recommended house special....I wish I had not gotten it...and gone with my normal broiled seafood option. Husband got Grouper and it was FAIR...had eaten better before. My fish plate was COLD and had to send back to kitchen. Got lucky on a Friday night and only waited about 10 minutes to be seated. The server was fairly quick for drink order and very polite. The place was jumping and got drinks to us in a timely fashion. Took our order and off he went. Diner came about 15 minutes later and was piping hot. I got the fried platter with shrimp, oysters, and scallops. My wife got the Atlantic salmon. Really really good. Excellent restaurant with delicious local food and caring servers. We ended up there on a Sunday midday by accident--we were looking for a local coffee shop and had to turn around in their parking lot--but it was so busy that we stayed and had a couple of great brunch dishes. My personal go-to is usually the blackened filet tips... perfectly seasoned and I ask for them to be cooked rare. The hubs and I had lunch here recently to use a Dealsaver coupon. I bought it with some trepidation, hoping this was not a Red Lobster-type experience. But I was only in for five bucks, so we took a chance. What a relief! It is in a pretty new-looking building on the main drag in Chapin. The staff was very friendly and the prices were reasonable for seafood. Since we were there for lunch, we both ordered sandwiches. But for only a dollar or two more depending on what you ordered, we could have had a dinner entree which seemed like a very good deal to me. I had the crab cake sandwich. It was a single crab cake about the size of a quarter pound hamburger patty, served on a 'brioche' bun (their description) which was very soft, fresh and tasty. The sandwich also had a fried green tomato, a regular tomato slice (tasteless of course - folks, don't bother when they're not in season), some onion and chopped lettuce, and a zingy little remoulade dressing on the side. The sandwiches come with one side (as opposed to the entrees which come with two). I was tempted to try the fries but our server was honest with me and admitted they were frozen/out of a bag, so I went with the cole slaw instead. It was pretty good, large chunks of cabbage with a dressing some might find too sweet. My husband ordered the fried shrimp po boy and said it was good. It was served on a sub roll with lettuce, tomato and onion and the remoulade. The shrimp were pretty fat. He ordered onion rings for his side. They were good sized and had that flaky crisp batter that we both like so much more than that stuff that looks like doughnut batter. Overall I would say this was a pretty good value. The only thing I didn't love was the decor/atmosphere. Too late, I noticed two very nice outdoor patio spaces that I would try to get in future. The interior decor was so odd. Wood trim/wainscoting ran along the wall about 4 feet off the floor. Above the wood trim the color scheme was perfectly serviceable light and dark grays. Below was a ruby (or garnet??) red, playing off a similar darker tone on the tile floor. Each booth was lit by a cheery red glass pendant light. So far, so good. But the booths were upholstered in a royal blue vinyl. One area had a cheap looking 4 top shoved into a space that wasn't quite big enough to add another booth. Overall it just kept me wondering what on earth they were going for with that color scheme. I guess if they took over the space from someone else, they were kinda stuck with the most expensive items to replace (blue booths and red tile floor). In any case, I've eaten better food in worse-looking places. The decor wouldn't keep me from coming back. I would like to try their shrimp n grits and also their collards. read more
