The exercise done at the stations is HIIT, with an interval of work followed by an interval of rest. The exercises are a mix of time-tested classics (think squats, rows, planks, etc.) along with exercises that require equipment that you probably don't have at home (TRX, battle ropes, stationary bikes that require arms and legs). Technically, the Burn class is more cardio-focused and Build is more strength-focused, but in either class you're getting plenty of strength exercises and will be using weights. There is a variety of class times to accommodate all schedules. The teachers are kind and fun. If you buy a 10-pack of classes, it works out to $13.50 a class, which is a good deal in my book. I also really appreciate that Unite Fitness has taken Covid protocols seriously. As of this writing, they received approval to require proof of vaccination so masks are not required in class if 95% of participants are fully vaccinated. There is also no shame or teasing of those who choose to wear masks while working out even if it is not required.

I really liked the vibe of the inside and loved the indoor/outdoor space separated by an open garage door. All the equipment is nice and new! The class I took was a Build class (a strength class) and we rotated ~8 stations three times. It was a good workout. I really loved the music they played too! The monthly rate seemed inline with CrossFit or other boutique gyms so a little pricey in my opinion. I also saw the instructor cleaning all the equipment after the class so that was a plus!

I've trained in the US and in Canada, and Robyn has them all beat. To start, she sat and talked with me about my goals and my injuries, and I could tell from the beginning that she had a deep understanding of what I wanted to get out of our sessions. After an initial assessment, the training began, and she consistently pushed me outside my comfort zone but within my ability range. Anyone who deals with injuries knows that pushing too far too fast only results in damage and more time recuperating, and Robyn helped me find that perfect balance. Not once during our sessions did I find myself regretting pushing so hard, and I knew that she had her eye on my form, making sure that I did everything perfectly. She is a professional and takes her work seriously, and it shows. Not only did she work with me on a weekly basis, but she provided a written description of the exercises we had completed and how I should continue with them in our "off" time. If you've ever worked with another trainer, you'll know that is not standard! Long story short, I began struggling on V1s and finished, 8 sessions later, projecting on V6s with no sign of injury. I asked them if they were from a local Crossfit Box and low and behold, yes they were and they told me I had to check out Crossfit Golden! I grabbed my friend 'Bill from Texas' who used to work out at Steelmonkey CrossFit in Columbus, MS and headed over to the BOX. I was amazed at the space and how highly organized the layout and the equipment was. Everything I needed was neatly placed in the appropriate areas.
