Catsnap staff member Mercy is a heartless, evil person. I reached out to the catsnap email (my guess is they don't have a phone # due to all the calls they would rcv on poor behavior) giving them a description of our missing kitten. 5 months old who also was a bit delayed from birth. Hand raised and loved and taken care of but he insisted on being outside and there was no preventing it. Mercy emailed back telling me how cruel I am as a person to have a cat outside and also giving me statistics on cats killing animals, at high risk for being hit and being a nusence to neighbors. When she found out our kitty died she had another email insistent how it was my fault and I was cruel and caused the death and again telling me winter is coming. I let her know that we have a heated garage our cats stay in, food, water, beds and outside coverage with heat lamps for them. None of that mattered. I asked for my emails to be sent on to higher ups and she essentially told me they don't care, and the president feels the same way she does "It is sad the kittens could not have a loving home inside safe from wild animals and traffic or other dangerous situations. Unfortunately, our experience with Catsnap was less than desirable. We showed interest in a particular adoptee. We provided an application, they checked in with our veterinarian and were told we are exemplary pet parents. A week goes by and we hear nothing back after multiple attempts were made to reach out to them. We drove the hour and fifteen minutes to the PetSmart in Champaign, Illinois the following weekend and low and behold there was the kitten we were interested in through Catsnap. We spoke to the Catsnap staff and were told they weren't through all the proper processing yet. A week had passed! I asked to hold a kitten and was told only people who had made the final application cut could hold an animal. We were right there, 95% or more of our application was finished, we were ready to adopt and take a new addition home to become a part of our family. We left empty-handed and later that night I received a short email saying this kitten had been adopted out to a different couple. There was nothing in the email saying we were approved to adopt another cat, nothing saying there were others which needed a loving home and would we be interested in saving another one. Just nothing. I had just lost my cat of sixteen years. We were clearly invested in providing a forever home. Our dog Riley has been with my significant other for more than 8 years and has always been well vetted. We returned for another adoption weekend with a different local shelter and today we brought home a ten month old cuddler. My heart is complete and it didn't take this other agency over a week to determine if we would be great pet parents. I feel sorry for the animals who never get their forever home simply because of the lack of timeliness of a Catsnap application review. If I'm willing to spend $125 dollars or more for a new pet, I'm certainly going to invest in providing the best home possible. I understand being particularly cautious, but adopting a child might be easier than adopting through Catsnap. read more

We applied for a kitten on a Saturday evening and had an appointment set up that afternoon. They do an excellent job screening candidate adopters for competence, and the volunteers and staff do an amazing job keeping the cats safe and socialized. We ended up adopting two lovely kittens, and they were house trained, up to date on vaccines, fixed, and got along great with our resident cats. They pull cats from overcrowded shelters and animal control facilities and find them homes. They facilitate locating low cost spay neuter programs. They accept the cats no one else will! Most people would be shocked how few rescues accept, much less welcome, black cats and kittens. Catsnap takes the old, the blind, the ones with missing limbs, the ones needing socialization or medical care, the black ones and the ones who are FIV+. Catsnap helped over 1200 cats in 2018. The cats are great, and they deserve homes. Don't let this deter you from adopting animals in need. But with that being said, this organization is beyond rude from the top down. Perhaps the volunteers are nice, but communication with the Vice President is extremely unprofessional, from her tone to both her lack of grammar. It's not a good look for a company when the VP cannot differentiate between "than" and "then" and continuously writes "could of" "would of" and "should of" instead of using the proper "have". Not a professional experience, it does not seem the management has a desire to legitimately find homes for these cats. They do seem to have a interesting desire to raise lots of cash all while the cats eat donated food, and are provided donated veterinary care, and are cared for by unpaid volunteers. read more

We adopted both our cats through Catsnap at different times and had a great experience. Yes, their application is a little long, but since they're a no-kill rescue organization and not a municipal shelter, they're just a little more picky about their adopters. We really liked that we could talk to the foster parents and get a sense of the cats' personalities before adopting, and would definitely go back if we wanted to adopt again. read more

We adopted from here and had a great experience. They are a small organization that is run by volunteers. We had to set up an appt to visit the cats and to pickup our kitty. They take really great care of the cats they offer for adoption and they do a lot of essential trap and release spay/neuter work in the area. They also pull from surrounding shelters when kitties run out of time. Our cat was one of those pulled from Vermillion County after she'd been there for months. If CATSNAP hadn't taken her in, as an older cat she'd have likely been euthanized. Thank you, Mercy and everyone else at CATSNAP! read more

I will keep this review short as I am extremely unhappy and I wish I could give this business 0 stars. I completed an adoption application was approved in 1 day and met the kitten the next day. We went home to think about it over thanksgiving and decided to get the kitten to accompany my lonely resident cat of 4. 20 minutes before I pick up the kitten I receive an email saying the volunteer is not comfortable with the adoption because she thinks my resident cat will attack the kitten? Completely unprofessional, I purchased toys and things for the kitten, got the kittens room set up and I was prepared to do everything in my power to make it work(slow and steady introductions). My cat is not bad around other cats. A feral cat hissed at my cat while she was in her carrier and that means cat will attack a kitten according to the volunteer?! After meeting the cat asking specific questions about the cats vet history, cost and adoption process I am not longer allowed to adopt with Catsnap?? I guess I asked too many specific questions. The volunteer told me to go to the humane society instead, completely unprofessional. 20 minutes before pick up the volunteer "changed their mind" RIDICULOUS. AVOID this business at all costs it will leave a bad taste in your mouth. read more

Catsnap received my application. Everything was good. They asked on the Catsnap adoption application if I was considering declawing the new kitty, and I said that I was undecided; and may use soft paws. I marked down I would like to adopt a kitten. The woman emailed me saying they had many declawed kitties to offer. I said I'd be fine with having a declawed kitten. She then replied with, we don't have declawed kittens. I replied with or without claws the kitten will be loved. This kitty was to be an emotional support animal for my son, who just lost his kitty to cancer and heart disease. They then sent me a picture of a kitten asking if I'd want to adopt her. I said no, that I'd like to see the kittens first. So, I arrive at Petsmart, where I see a forever fur baby, ask to adopt her, and was denied because I had declawed my previous kitties. I told them I said on the application that I was undecided and had questions. I actually mentioned I thought I'd get soft paws, and they said that causes infections. They said it's mean for me to declaw my cats front claws, even though they're indoor cats. They said it's policy. They also said they have 90 cats. I said it's truly sad for those cats, because instead of finding a loving family, they're choosing to keep them locked up for weeks and months. Prior to this, the woman who runs this organization failed to return my calls. I feel sad for the kitties, and hope they will find a new head for the organization who doesn't set out to control the future of each cat. read more
