Nearby our hotel. This store was convenient and we were able to get a few gifts for family and friends from here. Prices are a bit steep but there are a lot of unique things offered. Employees are friendly and helpful. Lots of candies, pastas, wine, chocolates, cookies, etc. There is a small cafe at the back of the store as well. Castroni is a great place to buy some gourmet food. They seem to have a good selection of things from all over the world, but we were most interested in the Italy goods, to gift friends and fam. They have a good selection of dry pastas, truffle oils, biscotti and other cookies. The best thing is that they have stores all over the city, so you are sure to find one near where you are to grab some goodies at. I have fallen in love with this store! It is the best if you're looking for great food of any kind! From the best chocolate sellers in Italy like Amadei, Domori, and Venchi, to tens of different kinds of pastas, and there's a cafe part if you want to sit. This place has great assortments of delicious chocolates that I buy as gifts for friends and family. The only problem I had was the clerks who had no motivation to help anyone (which is why I only gave 4 stars). They were busy talking to each other as the line got long. I saw people waiting in line leave because the line was long. I was willing to wait because I know how delicious these treats are. read more

I was in the market for some food presents to bring home and probably could've spent hours here if my friend hadn't given me a time limit. Shelves upon shelves of differently aged balsamic vinegar at prices ranging from around 5 euros to over 100 euros, truffle oil, truffles, pastas, chocolates, and so much more. They also have a cafe. Was recommended Castroni by my sister and brother in law for their pastas. Their website says they close at 8:00 PM. When I showed up at 7:40 the gate was half way down. I was planning on breezing through as I knew exactly what I wanted when a woman threw up the "X sign" with her arms and said they were closed. I asked, "but don't you close at 8?" Showing 8 fingers. She said in perfect English "I don't speak English. We're closed." Seemed to me they were tired of dealing with tourists and wanted to be home by 8. Too bad their primary clientele is tourists. Bye!
