What should have a…read morebeen a simple process with a small chain and a first time buyer was dragged out unnecessarily for weeks by Wosskow Brown through their incompetence and 'compliance' team that moved at a glacial pace. They were impossible to get hold of, either by their own client, the estate agents and other solicitors in the chain. The appointed solicitor was never available on the phone. When they did finally produce a reply it was often a one-line unhelpful email that did nothing to further the process and often didn't even answer the original question. Wosskow Brown were even worse when it finally came to agreeing a completion date. At the 11th hour they decided to question and ask for documents for simple things, like the boiler and conservatory, that had been answered four or five months prior. When a completion date was finally agreed with all the other parties involved, they pulled out the business day before at 3:00pm saying they weren't ready, despite being the first party in the chain and therefore having the most time to have been ready. It incurred extra costs, headaches and stress that should've been completely avoided. They'll probably reply with some trite answer to this review about how I'm not actually their client. But read it as a warning to not get tied up with an incompetent, thoroughly useless solicitor. If it wasn't for our constant chasing through our estate agent and solicitor, we would probably still be waiting for Wosskow Brown to pull their finger out and actually do something as they have zero initiative or drive. The worst solicitors I have ever encountered. Avoid like the plague.

I cannot comment on any other aspect of law practiced here as I have not dealt with them for anything else. Their charges are fair/reasonable. They are located in the Attercliffe Area within 5 minutes drive of the M1 (tinsley junction) and 5 minutes from the city centre by car depending on the time of day. There is free parking opposite the building and to the side streets.

My solicitor was James O'Donnell but I only spoke to him once, the rest of the time I dealt with his secretary who was very capable. The only reason I give them 4 stars is due to the amount of time it took from start to finish - it seemed like an eternity.

I used this company following a recommendation from a friend. They were cheaper than three other…read morefirms in Macclesfield so I took the plunge and also opted for the expedited conveyancing service as it still worked out cheaper. I could not really fault them. There were times when the solicitor was not available to talk to me but they usually called back roughly within their 2 or 3 hour guaranteed call back time. I can't speak for the none expedited service but I'd recommend them.

The first move was particularly complicated as my wife and I both owned houses before we got married, but the team was able to sort us out very capably. We've also used them for our wills and again have no real complaints. The only minor grumble would be the usual one, I suppose -- that sorting these things out always seems to take for ever; Fieldings Porter did sometimes seem a bit slow, but no worse than anywhere else. Be warned of this company, they will offer to help with your PPI and ask you to sign a form, they…read morethen do the minimum amount of work causing you to do the rest and get in contact with your credit card company and should you win, they swoop in a take a cut for doing very little. I'm sure most PPI solicitors are the same. You are better off doing it yourself.
