I never write negative reviews but I felt compelled to this time because I had such a horrible experience on my first (and only) visit here. I unfortunately ignored the other negative reviews because I wanted a female dermatologist in Castle Rock. That was a mistake. Dr. Broomer has the worst bedside manner of any doctor I've ever been to, and I've been to a lot! I've seen probably close to a dozen different dermatologists over the years and have never felt so humiliated, uncomfortable, and mortified because of such lack of tact and compassion. Dr. Broomer may well be a kind, knowledgeable doctor but you just can't tell by how she acts. She made so many rude comments about my skin that I was in tears by the end of the appointment. I was literally shaking while telling my husband about it. I've spent near 4 months thinking about this. I don't want to speak badly about the whole practice. The front desk lady was very nice, things were run on time, and the doctor might be a total genius, I don't know. That's why I gave it two stars. What I do know is that, with my skin history, I will need to see this doctor likely several times a year for the foreseeable future and I need to not feel like I'm going to have a panic attack each time I go. If you don't care about bedside manner and are not a sensitive type, then this practice might work fine for you. But for a woman who is already insecure about her skin (though not because of any other doctor, all other dermatologists I've seen have been nothing but kind and professional) her lack of tact and rudeness was almost traumatizing. If you are a woman and/or sensitive, I would strongly discourage you from seeing Dr. Broomer. read more

Last month for the very first time I went to Dr Broomer to resolve my everlasting issues with acne. She was wonderful! Very pleasant and knowledgeable. She gave me a break down on what would work best for my acne. The receptionist is wonderful, friendly, and professional. She worked with me when I had a family emergency come up. I would give one more star if the medical assistant that assisted me would have been a little more friendly. I was going over my medical history with her in regards of my acne and other things leading to it. She seemed very cold and not too friendly. I would expect to be treated with care since I work in customer service. She was getting frustrated with me going over details of what treatments I've had before. I will still see Dr Broomer, but please improve the better patient services with medical assistants. read more

I have a good business plan. Let's hire a medical assistant with even less personality than the doctor. Let's be sure the doctor makes people feel like idiots for wanting to be sure they don't have skin cancer and THEN to conclude each awkward encounter let's just hand out pamphlets about skin cancer- you know information anyone can get on the Internet. I've read through the other reviews and I gather there are a lot of people who need to be treated with kit gloves in the Castle Rock area, especially those who are transplants from AZ. Dr. Broomer treated me for a skin rash on my hands but deftly caught the fact that I had a Basal Cell Carcinoma on my forehead and I was able to get it removed within two weeks. I was very relieved as I might have never even suspected that I had a cancerous mole. Dr. Broomer has a quiet demeanor, she is not a gushy personality. If you need that, go elsewhere, maybe to a children's doctor. The staff are very friendly, so not sure why people are calling them icy and cold. I have very pleasant conversations with them and enjoy being in the office. Maybe people need to take a real look at their own personality before attacking others. Bottom line is Dr. Broomer and her staff are excellent at their jobs and I would HIGHLY recommend them! Haters, take off... read more

Location is a bit difficult to find, but the doctor and the staff were very friendly. The doc didn't push cosmetic services which was nice for a derm office. Just the needed information and wasn't trying to "sell you". A nice refreshing office. read more

I have been going to Castle Rock Dermatology for over six years. Dr. Broomer and her staff have been professional and courteous. I feel confident in the care that Dr. Broomer has provided not only for myself, but for my children as well. She always takes the time to answer any and all questions. I have had multiple moles biopsied and had to have treatment for basal cell carcinoma that she found. I would not go anywhere else!! read more

Took a gamble when I moved here and went with the closest dermatologist to my house. It happened to be Castle Rock Dermatology run by Dr. Broomer. Experience has been great. Dr. Broomer is personable and professional, as is her staff. I've since had a few procedures done and while it's never fun to have tissue removed, they did a great job and kept me informed along the way. I recommend to anyone who needs a dermatologist. read more

Seemed like a reasonable referral from my GP. Arrived 30 minutes early to fill out paperwork, receptionist assured me I was 1st in the queue so no wait was communicated to me. After sitting in exam room for 30 more minutes, Dr. still had not shown up. Classic case of Dr's time more important than patient's time. The office's front end needs improvement, communication and setting expectations is a fundamental expectation. There were no emergencies in front of me so being there for a total of one hour to see the Dr. isn't remotely acceptable. If you have nothing but time, this is the place, however if your time is important and the office's word isn't important stay clear. I suspect this is an indicator of the quality of care. Too many other options available to consumers to be bothered by this marginal experience. read more

I just came back from an appointment with Dr. Broomer. She was very nice as was the person at the front desk and the Medical Assistant. The doctor was very knowledgeable and personable. She identified my problem and explained other things she found. I have had lots of experience with physicians and Dr. Bronner was perfectly fine. I agree with the previous reviewer that some patients need to be handled with kid gloves. I don't understand the negative reviews but I have a feeling that they are exaggerating a bit and I wouldn't be surprised if they were really patients of hers at all. read more

I am giving this practice 1 star as Zero is not an option. I moved to the CR area from Arizona and needed a dermatologist as I am required to get skin checks every 6 months due to my medical history. I made an appt with Dr. Amy Broomer. What a mistake. Like other posters have reported, the nurse is rude, demeaning and cold. As I attempted to review my medical history with her, some of which is sensitive, she showed no empathy. Instead, it felt as though she challenged me. She repeatedly regurgitated information back to me incorrectly. I would try to correct her & she became defensive and frustrated. I should have realized at that point this practice was not nearly up to reasonable standards. Next, Dr. Amy Broomer enters the room. I was appalled at her lack of bedside manner. I would have been able to get passed that had she displayed some degree of expert knowledge. Unfortunately, she fell short in that department as well. I STRONGLY advise against going to this practice should you need a good dermatologist. I would much rather get on a plane and fly back to AZ every 6 months than ever going back to this hack. read more

I have to agree with some of the other reviews. From my first visit here today, I experienced nothing but professionalism and knowledge. The receptionist, assistant, and doctor were all very nice and made sure I understood each step of the way. If your needs are to be up sold on $200 face cream or you're planning to walk out with new lips, this may not be your place. However, if you have a medical dermatology concern that you want assessed objectively and professionally, I feel this place is just fine. I would rather people be open and honest with me than to tell me I need costly add ons or medication. I have yet to see how the billing unfolds, but I will update. read more

first the pro 's Clean nice office. little wait times and friendly front office staff. The cons are every thing else. Dr Broomer is dry and emotionless. her enthusiasm for what she does is significantly lacking. I took my 12 year old son to her for acne treatment. She sat lifeless in her chair. She did not once get up to him on the patient table to examine his skin. With a monotone affect she told me that I was more concerned with the acne than him, which is not true. he wanted to go to the "skin doctor". She wrote out a prescription for a vitamin a product and that was about it. follow up in 3 months is not going to happen. Castle rock needs a great dermatologist . Dr Broomer is not it. read more

Having moved to the Castle Rock area last year from the Phoenix area, I knew I needed to find a dermatologist since I have the kind of skin that seems to get a lot of pre-cancerous lesions. I went to Castle Rock Dermatology and saw Dr. Amy Broomer because the location was convenient. The comparison of professionalism between there and what I had become used to in AZ was dramatic. In reading some of the reviews here today, the folks that gave good ones must have gotten lost and went somewhere else. The negative reviews were spot on. The staff there is cold and indifferent and smiles must be prohibited. The receptionist gives the impression that she is just there to pick up a pay check, the nurse is like a robot and Dr. Amy Broomer/s bedside manner is non-existent as she is cold as ICE and seems to only do a cursory exam. I was determined to never return and find a better dermatologist and I did and their office is conveniently located near the hospital on W. Meadow Drive in Castle Rock and EVERYONE there is friendly and the lady doctor is FABULOUS. read more
