I loved my apartment at Castle Point. Prices were fair & maintenance was fast to fix anything & everything needed in the apartment. I paid my rent & kept to myself. I never had a problem with anyone or the staff. Staff was helpful & resourceful. As long as you request to have Maintenance done, they'll come out & fix it ASAP. The Landscaping crew does A+ Work. The only downfall to this Apartment Complex is The Washer/Dryer facility outside your apartment. So If laundry needs to be done, you have to go outside and to the laundry room to wash and dry. That's it though. No washer/dryer in the apartment. Overall I LOVED my apartment at Castle Point. Never had any major problems with anyone or anything there. I'd recommend it to anyone wanting a nice, spacious apartment for a good price & in a good place at that. 5 minutes from Notre Dame, The Mall & all sorts of Restaurants. read more

I moved in in August and it was a disaster from the beginning. They had informed me that the apartment stunk so bad they had to use an ozone machine to get the smell out and informed me that I could be given a different unit but they were all worse than this one. I was then informed by a neighbor that the previous tenant committed suicide in the unit. I later confirmed this was true, unit 1104. When I moved in there was also no AC unit and they took over a month to get me working AC. Every month I was overcharged and double billed for trash, they know this is an issue and are essentially scamming people out of an extra $20 if you don't catch it on your bill. They do not answer the phone or call back and they will not respond to your emails, you will have to go into the office every month to get your bill corrected. Of the 6 apartments I have lived in this has been by far the worst. Every apartment has a nicer demo unit than what you really get but this was night and day. It was filthy upon my move in and they had to send a cleaner after I moved in. It is also the landlord special of landlord specials, thick paint covers every surface to hide wear, dirt and grime. Please do yourself a favor and just skip considering this apartment. read more

I went without hot water for 5 months because they were "waiting on a part" but sitting on golf carts on their phones outside the office all day. Also the leasing manager Abby is extremely rude. So this is truly a tale of 2 halfs. I stay a full term 1 year lease and I was treated wonderfuly by the staff, enjoyed the ammenities, had great neighbors, snd even though the apartment was basic it felt safe and clean. Then i upgraded to get a bjgger unit and moved across the complex and while the staff is still great and clubhouse is fun, this side is filthy, an unruly motley crew crowded about, and it stinks. If i moved here first instead of the other side I wouldnt of stayed a year. This place can feel like resort (on coachmans trail) or a slum (court of the royal arms). I moved here because I was requested to work in surgery due to this pandemic. A lot of nurses and medical staff have come this way to work and help due to the shortage of medical staff during this pandemic. I chose a non "newly" renovated apartment because of the cost and because it is quiet where my apartment is located, well WAS quiet, my patio is also facing the back and away from the parking lot. I work 12 to 16 hours a day, sometimes 24 hours+. When I come home, I only get a few hours before I am called back into surgery. WELL, I guess because of the "stimulus", many people received money and not working, and since money talks, they are letting a lot of unfavorable people move here. Which leads me to my building! It was quiet, BUT they have allowed someone with noisy, disrespectful kids and a dog move UPSTAIRS from me! and neighbors across the hall who has the hallway smelling like marijuana to where I spray constantly. The bumping above me is UNBEARABLE!! I can't sleep the few hours that I get because of that. I have called the leasing office several times and get the same answer " we will handle it" but nothing changed. I had to rent a hotel room on several occasions, just to rest before I head back to the hospital to help SAVE LIVES!! I do have receipts to prove it, recorded messages and phone calls with the leasing office as well. My car has been broken in to, and a few times when I had to leave on emergency to the hospital, I was blocked in due to someone parking in a weird way. I was approached by someone who asked me for prescription medication so I guess he was watching me, and my plants were stolen off of my deck. There are two places you suppose to have peace, in your home and grave. The NON peace in this place is killing me. Waiting for my lease to be UP!! read more

This is the worst place to live. The staff are ridiculously awful and unprofessional. I hated having to go into that building, they treat you terribly from day one. I have been trying to resolve issues with them AFTER having moved out months later. No one seems to have any idea what they're doing. I've been asking for the record of my pay statements for the past two months and conveniently they changed systems when I moved out, so they don't have them anymore. Oh where do I start? They suck, they over charge. Stacy the property manager is a snarky unprofessional, uncaring individual who will lie right to your face.They refuse to return your phone call and then she claims you never called her. They are bad and documentation. We have paid rent and then later they claim we never paid. The roads flood when it rains. If you have a low sitting car good luck leaving. They do not plow the lots or walkways. I showed them mold growing in my bathroom and they said it wasn't mold. They wouldnt even test it. The outlets do not work. You plug something in and they fall back out, a fire hazard. If you call for maintenance it takes forever for them to come out and they do a duct tape job to fix it. We constantly have plumping issues and the heat goes in and out. They do not use licensed professionals for maintenance. They literally will hire you if you cant even change a light bulb. They over charge for rent and all they did was put in fake wood floors and fake marble counter tops to make it look like it was "updated" They want 1,300 for a 3 bedroom when the floor boards are loose and they need to rewire the whole place. The lights go on and off. We had a huge hole in our ceiling at one point from the roof leaking and they refused to fix it. We went 8 months out of the 12 month lease with a room we couldn't even use. If you have a emergency and need extra time to pay rent they wont allow it. They will file eviction the second they can. My grandpa died and I had to leave town to provide his end of life care and plan the funeral. It caused us to miss ONE rent payment. They refused to return my call asking if they could work with me. We have lived here since 2016 and they wouldn't even speak to me. They make it hard to move out. They want a 60 day notice to move out. No one is going to wait 60 days for you to move into another place. If you give them the 60 days and then cant find another place you are screwed and have no where to live. If you dont give them a 60 day notice they charge you the remander of your lease plus 1500. If you want to remove someone from your lease they charge 1500. They are money hungry and it shows. The package lockers are a joke. You will have a package sitting at the office for 3 days before they notify you that it is there. DO NOT MOVE HERE. JUST DONT. Look up their Facebook page and they have a 2 star rating with lots of bad reviews . I have plenty other stories but it would be a book if I wrote it all. read more

I went with my friends that are a newly wed and had just moved to Michigan. Castle point in general looks absolutely beautiful. My friends were so excited to check it out. We went in the office and we received the worst customer service I could of imagined. Deziray was the one that helped us. I shouldn't even say she helped because all she did was act rude towards us. We literally walked in and were waiting to be helped. She tells us from across the room if we were going to walk to her or make her walk to us. Really? Then she questions the age of the couple and not until he shares where he works she started to change demeanor. Lived here in grad school. It was a last minute thing as one of my buddies converted his one bedroom lease into a two bedroom. The place is nicer than the apartments right next to campus but not as nice as the upscale apartments in downtown. The place is actually not that bad, apartments are a little old but clean and reasonably priced, just a little old. The basketball court is nice and the pool is great, except that it's only open 3 months of the year when it does not snow during the school year. Covered parking is available for an additional fee of $25 per year. The only major complaint is that it is far from campus, over 2 miles which makes having a car necessary which is a pain to turn on and drive after a fresh snow night. Also, the place does look like a castle. Not a bad option to live if you do not mind your street address being Royal Vista Terrace or Court of the Royal Arms, lol. No washer and dryer in the apartment is also a disadvantage. Majority of the people living here are students with some families. Would recommend the nicer apartments in downtown if money is not an issue. read more

Lived here for approximately one year now and I have really enjoyed it. I live in a one bedroom apartment here. The living room is very spacious and you really cannot beat the closet space. You can paint the walls so I've been able to make it really look like a home. Although there are no laundry units in the actually apartments they have three washers & dryers designated for each building. They just implemented this new laundry card system where you can use your credit/debit card to load money on it and you just swipe it when you are using the machines. It really takes the hastle of getting quarters away. There is a big gymnasium and a nice pool scene. Location is wonderful, only about 1 mile from the Mishawaka mall. In regards to maintenance and staff I think they do a great job. First of all with the recent snowpocalypse the maintenance staff has been out everyday snowblowing the sidewalks and constantly keeping the parking lot plowed. Earlier in the winter, I believe in January I woke up freezing because the starter in my heater had gone out during the night. I called right away and I had someone fixing my heater 20 minutes later. The apartments are a little dated but you really can't beat their prices and location. Another good thing about living here is that it is safe. Finding a place to live in South Bend can really be hit or miss. But as a young single female living in a first floor apartment I always feel safe. In regards to utilities you do have electric heat which can get expensive in the winter months however you can schedule your payments to be a standard rate every month so when the cold months hit, your pocket book isn't effected as badly. Water & trash is included with the apartments amenities so you only have to worry about your electric bill which is nice. Ultimately if you are looking for an affordable, spacious apartment I would recommend Castle Point Apartments to you. read more

Sure it was cheap to live here, but it was a difficult situation. The laundry rooms were always broken and trashed, repairs would take weeks or months with no updates (and then the repairs were sometimes shoddy), and the front office staff was always so mad you were there for help. Not everyone who works here was difficult to interact with (a few of the maintenance workers went out of their way to help us), but everyone else was a challenge. I know they were recently bought, so maybe things have or will change, but I wouldn't hold my breath. read more

I signed a 12 month lease, and ended up having to leave three (3) months early to move back to California. When I left, I informed the agent who signed me out that I would be happy to pay the remaining three months rent, as I was contractually obliged to do. At the time, she said that that was fine. I've now been informed by Castle Point that I'm expected to pay four (4) months worth of rent because it is "required by the Fair Housing Laws" since I left early - even though, even had I stayed living there, I only would have been on lease for three (3) more months. Castle Point management are crooks looking to squeeze every last penny they can out of their residents. That's not to mention the numerous problems I've had over the three years I lived at Castle Point, including monthly power outages lasting up to a day, frequent water main breaks and other issues with the 40 year old, unkempt plumbing, and so much more. We moved in here May 15 of '11. At first we were shocked by all the bad reviews as our apartment was lovely. Or so we thought. The first thing we noticed was how out of date the appliances were. This wasn't a huge issue as we brought some of our own, but when we got our first bill that changed. We rented a 2 bedroom unit, and our electric bills were 180+ even though we weren't home a whole lot, and we unplugged appliances. Our windows weren't insulated well or were missing screens, so they leaked out heat or cool air. We had a maintenance issue once a month, and dealing with management was a pain as they treated you like crap when you called. The cable guy came to install cable, and found that someone had INSTALLED A FURNACE over the wiring, and was appalled as that is a HUGE fire hazard. We found black mold under our sink cover up by plywood. Dryers don't dry in laundry unit, they leave your clothes wet. We kept our apartment cleaned and sprayed RAID, but spiders were able to crawl under the space under our screen door (Which was a large gap), so we had to push a wedge under it. If you get a lower level apartment, be prepared to hear your upper level neighbors business all day every day. If you get an upper level be prepared to receive noise complaints for sneezing. All in all, avoid avoid avoid. Run if you can. The newer models may be nice, but the older ones aren't worth the fire you'll probably have if you stay. read more

This place is awful.. The management and maintenance were awful the apartments are full of mold they do not keep up with anything they claim that even when you do pay them they always say that they never got your money thank goodness for receipts I could not believe how rude the people are in the front office they will lie straight to your face and bull crap you all the way through. I showed them mold in the apartments they never took care of it the outlets are crap a fire hazard and the crime is awful there we were constantly somehow getting nails in our tires which was funny when we left there we never got another nail in our tire ever again. I am so disgusted and on how unprofessional this places and then the worst part is they charge you so much money and they are the worst apartments around being at these apartments has made me realize I never want to rent another apartment because of all the nightmare we went through with this place they have ruined our credit even though we had paid them they swore up-and-down that we owe them all this money just because we moved out because they would not take care of anything we have children plus ourselves we cannot live in a place that's full of mold that is disgusting The health department seriously needs to come in to that place and shut it down I cannot believe that they would even passcode on any of those apartments they're old and they swear they keep getting new management and they're up keeping all their apartments and remodeling them which is such bull crap because the apartments are old and nasty every single one of them I would ask maintenance to come it would take forever for them to even get there to do anything. Please everyone take my advice you can find a way better apartment somewhere else than to rent from these people and I will keep getting on here and writing reviews to make sure that people know never rent from this place you can find a cheaper place that is way nicer and cleaner than these disgusting old rundown moldy apartments with rude people that run it especially Stacy up in the front she is one nasty chick. This complex has seriously gone downhill within the last 20 years. The past 2-5 years, it has plummeted to an exceptionally low level of quality. There are no professional standards here anymore. It used to be an upscale place to live, many years ago. The management, maintenance, office staff and residents now have CP complex on the same level as public housing. A woman shot and killed a man this past summer. There is debris and dog feces everywhere. The building hallways are always filthy and the laundry facilities w/d are usually inoperable. The regional property manager and the property manager are two of the most unprofessional and unpleasant people I've encountered since living here. CP only saving grace is the clubhouse and even that isn't worth the rent price. Do yourself a favor and go elsewhere. You'll thank me later. read more

Don't be fooled by this place. Most of it is run by "smoke and mirrors". The outward appearance of the front and the clubhouse look pretty nice for the price range. At first the staff are polite and receptive. Once you sign a lease all of this changes. You quickly realize the grounds in the back and most other areas are not kept up and dirty. Unless you live in the front mowing and landscaping are rarely done. You will often have to shovel your own snow. The apartments in general are falling apart and outdated. After you sign a lease the staff could care less about you as a person. Complaints are met with disdain or just ignored. They are often rude and insensitive pertaining to the needs of a tenant. I can't stress these points enough and urge you to pay a little more to live in a more pleasant complex. read more

This is the ABSOLUTE WORST place to live. It is so disgusting. There are huge spiders everywhere and the complex smells terrible. Maintenance never ever came to my apartment to fix anything and I lived there for a year. The first day I moved in I told them that the sliding door didn't close all the way, which caused all the heat/air to escape through it and cause my electric bill to sky-rocket and they did nothing about it. They are notorious for cutting corners with things and try to fix things with duct tape. It is such a garbage establishment I can't even believe people still want to live there. Not only does the complex suck but the staff in the office do too. You would be absolutely insane to rent at Castle Point. If you are already a renter make sure you scrub down your apartment the day you move out like you haven't scrubbed before or else they will charge you. This place is awful and the office staff sucks so bad. You cannot talk to the office manager the staff won't let you she's always "out of the office" when I call. She called me twice and both times I literally called her right back still she was "out". I have lived here for over 3 years and this is the worst it has ever been. Good neighbors are moving out because of the stuff that goes on here and they replace them with trash that smokes weed all day everyday. I do not care what you do in your free time but when the smell comes into my apartment that's a whole other story. These people who I don't believe have actual jobs just sell drugs out of their apartment, I know they do for a fact because nobody has friends pull up for 30 seconds every other day. There needs to be a curfew for people just hanging out in the parking lot half the people don't even live here. There needs to be security cameras and actual security officers because I've called before and the person who answered said he was working and could not come what good is that going to do.
