This was my fist visit since the new owners. I love that they kept it the same. The woman working the tables and counter was great. Definitely hustled for a random busy weekday afternoon. It was around 2pm but the tables were packed and people were coming in for the ice cream counter. It was a lot for one person but she kept a friendly smile the whole time. I want to start with the good - Turkey club, onion rings and tots!!! The turkey is made in house and I'm jealous I didn't order it. The club came with fries but substituted them for tots and it was a good portion. They were cooked perfectly. I ordered a side of onion rings since my sandwich didn't come with a side. They were very good. Thick onions but the breading wasn't too thick and not too greasy. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak hoagie with mayo. It was so dry. Not much cheese in sight unfortunately. The mayo was almost non existent and the server never checked on us so I couldn't ask for more. She was running around and busy with everyone so not complaining about service. This is just a personal preference comment....they put oregano on their cheesesteak hoagies and I'm assuming hoagies. I should've asked because I'm not a fan. I'll definitely go back but will stay away from the chicken cheesesteaks lol....or maybe try a pizza steak!!?! read more

we stopped by castle harbor drive in for lunch, after a hike at amico island. very charming retro luncheonette. they serve breakfast lunch and ice cream, either through the window, or inside at the counter & tables. I had a turkey sandwich on toast after learning that they roast the turkey in house and carve it fresh. it was very good! my husband had a tuna club which came with fries. everything was freshly prepared and tasty. our server told me they reopened about a month ago, and all info can be found on their facebook page. we will definitely go back and try breakfast and or ice cream. they have richman's and soft serve. they also have tables out back for eating ice cream, really cute spot. read more

I just went here for a chocolate milkshake and I wish I didn't. I feel like I should have been on the boardwalk for the price I paid. $9.60 for a small milkshake is ridiculous. I asked the cashier to confirm the price and even she was confused and looked shocked at the price for one milkshake. If I took my kids here I would be spending almost $40 on 4 milkshakes which is absurd. The flavor was good but not worth the price at all. read more

My first time at Castle Harbor, it offers you a classic NJ diner food experience. The crowd consisted of patrons that have been customers for decades to a new generation of grandfather's bringing their grandchildren in. The menu is large, offering breakfast platters, breakfast sandwiches, omlettes, lunch sandwiches, burgers, salads, soups, and so much more. Something they seem to be known for as well are their ice cream and desserts. That'll be something I'm going to make sure to try in the spring/summer time! To warm up the bones and fill my big ol' belly, I went with some cream chipped beef over rye toast with home fries. It's just a simple, yet well executed delicious breakfast meal that hit the spot just right. They close for a Christmas break on 12/22 and don't reopen until February of 2025. I have been going to the Castle for over 20 years. The food there is excellent and the prices are very fair. The waitresses are very friendly and they deliver fantastic service. Jim the owner is an exceptional owner, manager and head chef. He runs a tight ship and always makes sure that all the food is fresh and tasty. He makes their own soups , potato and macaroni salads and some delicious desserts. The frozen custard is excellent and they have lots of toppings. For more years then I can count , I have taken my family to the castle. It is a staple in our neighborhood !! The prices are in line for ice cream but you also get so much for your money. I order a child size cone which is enough for me. Hubby will get a large that is so big I have no idea how he eats it all -- the toppings are fresh and are yummy !! My youngest cannot have dairy so the water ice is her jam -- and that too is great on a hot summer night -- the employees are always friendly and move so fast that the line looks long but really isn't . The Harbor is a staple of my childhood-- I can remember many summer nights where my family would make the trek down to get our soft serve ice cream. The prices are as cheap as ever and the portions are still very generous (a small is far more than enough for me). Although the marina is no longer open to non-members (as it was when I was younger), Castle Harbor still has a spacious back patio for patrons to sit near the boats, if not on the water. Great place for families. Food is cooked perfect every time. We come quite often. The prices are very reasonable and a la cartel which is nice. The servers are awesome and always friendly. OMG, I just ate at castle harbor. it was the worst experience I think I ever had anywhere. My nephew was served his pancakes on a dirty plate, looked like fried eggs were on it prior to his pankces. Then they made new ones and brought the check out before he got the new plate. Then my nephew was eating the new set of pancakes and found a hair cooked into the fresh plate of pancakes. The cook told us to never come back..... Like we would!!! That beats all, the nerve of that man. So I told everyone to be aware of what your eating & why. They didn't even apologize. read more

It's always a sign of spring when first castle reopens after being closed for the month of January and most of February. Second is when they start selling ice cream again. I give a negative review for Castle harbor Drive in. The frozen ice cream that is served must be left over from the prior year because some flavors that I have had were freezer burnt. The amount of soft ice cream served for several different people within the same party were very inconsistent for same size cone. I have gotten clumps of hair in my child's ice cream and another separate occasion we went for breakfast and we were served pancakes on a plate that obviously had someone else's eggs on on and was disgustingly dirty. And when asked for a new plate, we were treated harshly and told to leave. Recommend Do not eat here! I take away my start and leave a negative 5 star! read more

Normally the Castle has been very good place to go for an ice cream or a quick sandwich . Not today I'm afraid to say. My wife and I went there about 2:00 pm before headed out to run errands. We both ordered BLT's and ice tea. We got our drinks but after 45 minutes still no sandwiches . Then when we witnessed other people being served who arrived after we did I stopped our server and asked why they had been served and we were still waiting. She said only "I'll check". Then she never came back. We left the money on the table for our drinks and got up and left. Not sure if this is a new trend for this once good place or simply a bad day. read more
