There are all sorts of tropical plants, desert cacti, and a lot of grounds to explore. Everything seemed to be well maintained. We had plans to visit another day during our trip, but we had just tried checking out a cocktail bar that was unfortunately closed. So this was nearby and we popped over for about an hour or so. It costs a few bucks to enter, which I'm fine paying. It's worth it. Only sad part is we weren't prepared to take too many photos (wife didn't have her camera with her), so hopefully we'll return someday to take more pics. Also wonder if there is a best time of year to visit...

Then they sit you on the patio upstairs where they bring you 5 appetizers with wonderful presentation, all were delicious. Next, for dinner time you're taken down to the main room where the acrobat / musical show happens and they bring you caviar, small finger sandwiches, Iberian ham and breadsticks, and multiple bite size desserts. You have to book a reservation in advance and they are pretty strict about this. We booked a table for 5 people but had a friend wanted to join us at the last minute, it took a lot of convincing to get him into the table. When you first walk into the door, they lead you backstage to see where all the performers are getting ready for the show. It's my first time seeing a circus show backstage like that. They give you little snacks and drinks as they walk you through the tour. I remember they gave me a ticket, similar to the old school ones you get at the fair, then asked me to eat it at the end. Turned out it was made of potato chip. Very interesting!!!! Then once you get to the top level, everyone get a rose. At the table, they will slowly bring out all these small dishes and appetizers. There were so many, I couldn't remember everything but they were delicious and unique. After you are done with all of those small dishes, you will be move to the main room, downstairs have start having the main courses there while watching the show. I believe, the owner of Cirque de Soleil helped create this restaurant so the show here is pretty similar to Cirque de Soleil. The experience was epic, they have 2 stages, one for the acrobatic acts and one for the singers. The singers and dancers also will come around to all the tables. Everyone just got so into the show, they started to get up and dance. It's not a short dinner, plan to spend the whole evening here. The show didn't end until midnight. Then they have a night club there afterward so you can stay and have fun with the DJ.

Torrevieja Carnival (Carnaval de Torrevieja) consists of several events held in January and…read moreFebruary every year. There are two street parades and several contests that take place during two weeks. The fist carnival was held in 1986 and became quite popular in the recent years. During the first parade some 30 "comparsas" (groups of dancers) dance though the city and compete for €14000 worth of prizes. There several categories, individual prizes vary from €300 to €1400. The winners are decided by a jury, not really fun because the public don't have a say. The second parade ("the evening parade") is the last day of the carnival. The event is informal and anybody can participate. Both parades start from Plaza Maria Asución, go along Calle Ramón Gallud and end at Calle Patricio Perez. There were many plastic chairs installed along the street this year for the event, you could find one to enjoy the parade in comfort (it lasts for at least three hours). The cleaning service after the parade is great, they are really fast and productive. No signs of the huge party just an hour after its end. It seemed like the 2016 parade was smaller than the 2015, both in terms of numbers of performers and spectators. More convenient to for everyone but not a great trend. Torrevieja carnival is the event enjoyed by people of all ages, both locals and tourists. It is safe and convenient for the kids and for the elderly. Some areas close to huge outdoor speakers can be really loud, be careful. Check out the pictures and short videos from 2016 and 2015 carnivals.
