Castello di Casole d'Elsa (Castello di Casole, A Belmond Hotel, Tuscany) Tosca…read more We visited Castello di Casole d'Elsa for dinner. It is an extraordinary retreat where history, landscape, and luxury come together in a way that feels almost cinematic. Castello is atop a hill in the Tuscan countryside, the property occupies a restored 10th‑century castle within a large 4,200‑acre estate of vineyards, olive groves, forests, and fields. From the moment you arrive via a winding, cypress-lined road, it feels as though you've stepped into another era (as if driving through a forest). The setting alone is breathtaking, with sweeping views of rolling hills that stretch as far as the eye can see. The atmosphere is one of timeless, laid-back elegance. Despite its large scale, the estate feels peaceful and secluded, offering a true escape from daily life. The historic architecture such as stone walls, vaulted ceilings, and rustic details has been meticulously preserved, while contemporary design elements ensure comfort never feels compromised. One of the hotel's strongest aspects is how seamlessly it integrates with its surroundings. The estate is actively lived in, with agriculture, local production, and outdoor experiences shaping the guest experience. Dining at Tosca ristorante at Castello di Casole was a highpoint. The restaurant highlights traditional Tuscan cuisine, using ingredients grown directly on the estate...olive oil, wine, and seasonal produce. The food was exceptional, with a focus on authenticity and quality. We sampled items like baby squid, bread and oil, tortelli, and seabed amberjack. Service was one of the defining features of the hotel. Our servers were attentive, professional, and personable Memorable meal... Castello di Casole d'Elsa is a nice anniversary splurge that captures the essence of Tuscany in both style and substance. With its extraordinary setting, refined design, and outstanding service, it offers a deeply memorable visit that feels authentic. An immersive Tuscan escape...ideal for travelers seeking tranquility and a truly elevated countryside experience.

It's no surprise CdB is consistently ranked among the top hotels in the world (#1 in the world by Travel + Leisure in 2022). The service and staff are unparalleled. The views are breathtaking no matter where you are onsite, especially waking up to it if you have a patio. PRICE: For the most cost-efficient room, rates run at €4,000 per night. DINING: There are only two sit-down dining venues on property, Osteria La Canonica and two-starred Michelin restaurant, Campo del Drago. While both are exceptional in their own cuisines, I do wish there were more restaurants on-site. SPA: I had a facial and a deep tissue massage, but both were disappointing--overhyped and expensive for what you're getting. The facial felt like a basic cycle of product being applied and washed off x5. As for the deep massage, I fell asleep, which is never a good sign. I want to clench my teeth as knots and kinks are being worked out by a professional. Unfortunately, we never got there. ACTIVITIES: Since you're isolated on property, you can arrange for activities on/off property with guest relations. For on-site activities, transportation is complementary (ie: Brunello tasting, bicycling, golf). Unfortunately for off-site activities, expect to pay for transportation (ie: truffle hunting, horseback riding). While once again, pricey, you can't beat the experience at this beautiful property-- especially the truffle hunting! LOW: Being one of the event planners for my company's recent president's club trip, my only real critique was the lack of responsiveness to the various departments when coordinating via email -- especially as the date approached sooner. 5/5!!!

I was so excited to stay at the nicest hotel in Siena on our trip and we stayed here 2 nights…read more After the first night, I woke up covered in bites. I told my husband I thought there were bedbugs and he thought I was crazy. I was itchy all day and had about 10 to 12 bites all over my body. The next night we were up all night. He started getting bites as well. We told the hotel in the middle of the night and they said that we must have left the window open. We let them know we did not open the window. They let us switch rooms at 4 am after being up for hours and going back and forth on them about this, but the damage was done. The next morning they apologized and said they misunderstood with the language barrier and thought that there were flying insects in the room. They told us that they would refund us for the entire stay because of the inconvenience and how grossed out we were. We showed the front desk lady our bodies covered in bites and she apologized and said she would refund the entire stay. When I got home and still had the charge I called back and they said they didn't find bugs and wouldn't refund us. No contact from them at all they just changed their mind. A simple Google search will let you know how challenging it is to see and find them. We certainly saw them AND showed the staff our bodies covered in bites. This was such a disappointing and disgusting experience. We had to go launder all our clothes in the middle of our vacation, couldn't bring our luggage into any other hotel after this, and the fact they think we would make this up when we showed them our bodies were covered in bites is appalling. Not 5 star service or cleanliness, don't stay here.

My room was beautiful, comfortable and with a beautiful view of the homes in Siena. The customer service is top notch. Breakfast was included and it was a buffet of wonderful variety of food. We poured a had drink to melt the chocolate and see what was inside. Pretty cool! I highly recommend a stay in the Grand Hotel Continental.

I stayed at four different hotels while traveling in Italy, and it's safe to say that Locanda Le…read morePiazze was the best hotel out of the bunch. There's a lot to say, so I'll try to break it up. Loction: Tuscany is overwhelming, but the hotel's location in Chianti is prime. You are only a 10-15 minute ride from Catellina which is a beautiful village with lots of restaurants and shops. You are also the same distance from several wineries. None are walkable, but because everything is so spread out that's probably tough to find anywhere. The hotel does have bikes, but just a warning that it's very tough to bike because of all the hills. Food & Drink: What you don't need to walk very far for is excellent food and drink. Breakfast is included in your stay and the spread is delicious. Lots of hot and cold options including eggs and bacon, meats and cheeses, fruits, pastries and oatmeal. There is also an incredible restaurant on the property (more on that in another review). It was so good that we ended up eating dinner there two out of three nights. Oh, and let's not forget the honors bar. The hotel has a few honors style bars set up throughout the property. Drawers and fridges full of every kind of wine, beer and liquor. Plus fixings to make cocktails and spritzes. All you'll need to do is write down how many you have and your room will be charged. The Grounds / Interiors: This is the best part about Locanda. The grounds are gorgeous. The rooms are impeccable. Every single inch of the space is thoughtfully designed, modern and perfect. Outside you'll find fresh plants and herbs, rolling hills and vineyards and the most gorgeous pool smack dab in the middle of it all. If we didn't have plans to hit wineries I honestly could have sat at that pool all day. Each day we got back to the hotel in the afternoon and spent hours relaxing and taking in the views. The rooms and all other interior space have the most whimsical decor -- I was a big fan of the dream catchers and artwork. Service: The service was on point the entire time. They really do their best to make you feel comfortable and like you are staying with family. At one point one of the groundskeepers was picking fresh figs and she even brought a bundle over to us straight from the tree. I can only dream about returning to this hotel again one day. If I ever find myself in Tuscany you can bet that this is where I'll stay.

Castelletto di Montebenichi - Classic Double bedroom

This place is OUT OF THIS WORLD amazing…read more The location, the decor, the service... everything is absolutely perfect. It's very old world, but then again, the entire region of Tuscany is trapped beautifully in time. Let me start by describing the grounds. The castelletto (little castle) is quite possibly the most charming property I have ever stayed at. Marco has decorated the entire place with gorgeous antiques, and what a job he has done! There is not a corner, nook or cranny in the entire place that has not been thought out and deliberately designed. The rooms are extremely comfortable and decorated in the same antique-esque style as the rest of the property. There is no television, but we were able to rent a movie (bravo for Ratatouille with English subtitles) one evening. You won't even need to watch television, because this place is all about relaxation. The pool area was my favorite. Overlooking the lush Tuscan scenery, the pool is breathtaking. I blurted out some profanities when I walked down and saw where I would be spending my afternoon swimming. The best part? They have a little kitchen area with a fridge full of alcohol (from beer to champagne) and another fridge and freezer full of goodies (ice cream, frozen lasagna, etc.) if you get hungry. Everything is on the honor system, so you just take what you want and then write it down in the log book. You get charged upon checkout. My boyfriend and I were all alone at the pool most of the afternoon, and we treated ourselves to a bottle of champagne and some ice cream. It literally felt like we were staying at a wealthy friend's house, left to our own devices. Very private. Very beautiful. And very accommodating and comfortable. The cherry on top is Marco and his staff. Utter professionals, they made our holiday worth every penny. They were so helpful, friendly, and funny! Marco's got jokes, I tell you! There is not a lot going on around the castelletto at night, but rent a car (how else would you even even get to this place?!) and go to neighboring towns for dinner and shopping. So many cool little surrounding villages to explore. And you get to come back and spend time on the roof of the Castelletto di Montebenichi with your nightcap cocktail (they have a complimentary bar). This place is perfection. Please book your holiday and stay here. You will not regret it.
