Although the VFW is currently operating under COVID-19 restrictions and probably won't return to…read morefully normal operations for a bit, I've spent a considerable amount of time here volunteering and socializing, so I figured I would write a review of what it has to offer. This VFW location is the largest post by membership in the world! While there is a core group you'll tend to see at most of the events, it's a rare occurrence when you won't meet someone new when visiting. You'll find people of all ages and different connections to military life, whether serving directly as veterans or having a family member who was a veteran. (Yes, you can join as auxiliary member if you have a connection to a veteran as a husband or wife, widower or widow, father or mother, grandfather or grandmother, son or daughter, grandson or granddaughter, or brother or sister!) One of the most popular events at the VFW is bingo. (Bingo is open to the public.) Every Tuesday and Thursday, the doors open at 5:30 and early bird bingo starts at 7:30. No matter if you are a beginner or have been playing bingo longer than I've been alive, you can have the opportunity to win a $100 round or a jackpot game. (I've seen the progressive jackpots go over $2000 for a card!) Food and beverages are available for purchase while you play. You can also buy pull-tabs throughout the night. My personal favorite is karaoke night and I miss it very much. Everyone dances, sings, and laughs together. Usually karaoke night is also wing night, so you can get food specials before enjoying a night of music. The prices for drinks and food are really reasonable, so you can have a night out without draining your wallet. The bar area is spacious and includes several rooms, including a section with electronic game machines. The VFW also hosts special events, like military balls and holiday gatherings. It's always awesome to see veterans in their finery and families gathering together for a celebration. A monthly calendar is posted on the website with upcoming events. The bartender said I could not stay since I wasn't a member and I had nobody to "sponsor" my visit. Wow! Just wow! Never knew there were places for Vets that would turn Vets away. This is why I'm proud to be called a TEXAN!

The store is large and well organized and I found everyone there very friendly . I found one employee that in my mind went above and beyond . Vern was my cashier and he was so helpful and friendly ! I bought a lot of art glass , pottery and dishes and he was so efficient at packing it all ... he reinforced a box for it all ... informed me that there was a special going on and that some of my items were discounted ... and even through a computer glitch at checkout he never lost his great smile or sense of humor. I will make an effort to get to this location more often.

They also have signs on the dressing rooms to only bring 5 items but people had more then 10/15 and so the wait for the dressing rooms are really long .

The volunteers are very dedicated and helpful in accepting the donations and distributing them to those in need here in the community. The group is respectful towards those they serve, even referring to them as customers - allowing those in need the dignity they deserve. Donating items is quick, easy and efficient. The volunteers are kind and full of good cheer. ECHO will also advertise the specific items on their billboard so you can see what items are most in need. ECHO can't accept everything but they can recommend other organizations that accept furniture, perishable food or other items for donations. You can feel good that your donated items will go to those who can truly use them.

The Capital Area food bank offers an invaluable service to the area providing food for families in need. With the tough economics times the country finds itself in, it was encouraging to be part of good works. It also brought an awareness of the circumstances that people end up in a blink of an eye. It is great to know that their are everyday angels out their making a difference.....

I have used this company for the past two year on and off and usually no issues. The response I received was that a driver came around 12:49 pm and noted that there was nothing outside. LIES...the driver never showed up, I was home all day. Last time to use their service. Not sure if they have new workers, management or what...but I am not going to leave items out, to have to bring them back in and then reschedule for another date to try again.

Service had dropped down significantly for the past 10 years. Husband is helping his wife for an overpayment that the unemployment had sent by fault on their end. I am making payments for that overpayment. I send payments that does not show up on the unmployment side. We call, my wife and I for an explanation. Their customer service, follows, as portrayed the privacy policy. We give all needed information, like the password and else. She keeps on going and on to avoid giving an explanation. They intend t make pull your hair out no to give an answer. Finally it ends of she hanging up the phone after waiting an hour for somebody to answer the phone. 80-90 percent, you end up with such an attitude. Unbelievable. They make their agency looks so much unprofessional. This agency is finished servoce wise and they DO NOT CARE AT ALL.

I did receive an automatic submission completed notice. Seemed unprofessional to me if they wanted to find these animals forever homes. I don't mind the thorough process to make sure the animals are homed correctly but it's unfortunate there isn't more urgency for effectiveness.

I adopted my cat Yuzu a few years ago from this rescue after finding her on petfinder. The…read morevolunteers and foster mom were super responsive and kind! I was able to meet her in person only a few days after reaching out and make my decision to adopt her! The process was super quick but not rushed, easy, and pleasant. Yuzu was healthy and happy and made herself at home with me pretty instantly. They also have a really cute facebook group where other people who adopted from the rescue can post their pets and show off how they are with their new families. Recently, Yuzu had some dental issues that prompted me to reach back out to the rescue for help with. Melissa was super responsive. She responded back from the Facebook page and truly went above and beyond! She was extremely kind and proactive as if Yuzu was her own kitty, prioritizing my voiced concerns and taking things step by step to also prioritize Yuzu's health and happiness! I asked our cashier, "Joe," if I could enter my phone number for any discounts or to accumulate points toward membership benefits, and he rudely said, "It's too late." When I asked what he meant, he repeated that it was too late because the store was closing and he couldn't allow me to enter my number, even though it wasn't 7 p.m. yet, the store was still open, and there was still a line of customers checking out. I wasn't asking for anything complicated, just to enter my number on the keypad right in front of him, ring up our items, and check out. I also asked if my mother could sign up for a membership, since I'd been raving about this store and she was excited to join. He said no to both. I was genuinely confused because he seemed annoyed with us, and we hadn't done anything to him. Confused, I asked for a manager. It wasn't a miscommunication, since Joe spoke perfect English. I just genuinely didn't understand the refusal. While waiting, I overheard another cashier explaining the day's color-tag discounts and promotions to a different customer. Joe never offered us any of that information. We were met with rudeness and dismissiveness from him. When the manager came over, she had an attitude and talked over me as I tried to explain what was going on. She said Joe meant "there's no deals on Sundays" and pointed to the sign. I told her I already knew that, I can read, and I've been a member there for years. I was trying to explain that Joe had refused to let me enter my phone number, sign my mom up for a membership, or tell us about the color-tag discounts, claiming it was too late because the store was closing , even though there were still people in the store. The manager's response was that if we needed discounts, we should come back Monday through Thursday, which missed the point entirely and left my mother and me feeling like we'd been stereotyped as customers who were only there for discounts. I've shopped at this store for years and brought my mother because I wanted her to love it as much as I do. Instead, the visit left us feeling dismissed and stereotyped over what should have been a simple, friendly interaction. Joe and the manager were rude and unwelcoming, which made us so uncomfortable. A little patience and basic courtesy would have made all the difference. Please work on your customer service.
