So I received my bridesmaids dress from the bride on 9/19/2021 for the wedding that is on 10/23/2021. After trying the dress on for the first time, the zipper snapped when unzipping the dress out of the bag. I also needed the dress to be let out just a smidge and the bottom needed to be hemmed. I had never had any alterations done before in general, but a coworker highly recommended Cassie's. Big mistake. Although the ladies were super, super nice and did the adjustments within my extremely tight timeframe (this was poor on my part), the alterations were very very messy.
I picked my dress up on 10/19 during my lunch break and everything felt fine for the most part, I was just relieved to have the dress back. Before leaving work, a coworker told me to try the dress on so they could see how it looked on me and boy am I glad I did. I tried it on, and when she started to zip the dress up, the zipper flew right off the track once again. Pure panic filled my entire body. Not only did I just pay $140 for the dress to be altered, including the zipper being fixed, but the zipper flew off again!
I called Cassie's and through tears, explained to them what happened. She responded with "hmm...it's no good. The zipper, it's no good. You need a new one." So I then asked her if she could fix it and she said yes but then proceeded to tell me that I needed to go to Hobby Lobby and buy a zipper (yes, me) because they don't have that kind of zipper there...But said once I went and got the zipper, to bring it to her and she would kindly fix it...for $25. So now, I'm already out of $140 and my zipper is broken AGAIN, and she's trying to charge me an additional fee when it wasn't properly fixed the first time.
Needless to say, I hung up the phone and called another store and they actually fixed my dress for me. Boy do I wish this was the end of my extremely complicated and stressful story, but sadly, it's not.
When I went and picked up my dress from the second shop, she 100% replaced the zipper and the issue was fixed and done, but explained that she had come across some very disappointing work. She flipped my dress inside out and showed me from where they were making alterations, they left two softball sized holes on the inside seam of my dress. They hadn't been closed up properly. Not only that, but the seam work was an absolute mess. She claimed it was the worst she has ever seen. When she politely asked how much I paid for the alterations, her jaw literally dropped.
Like I said, these women are extremely sweet people. I dislike confrontation and I really try and stray away from slaughtering people's livelihoods, but I just have no words for the work that I had done. Just beware! read more
