Jeremy was very flexible with a day and time to meet to do the in person training. Jeremy was very knowledgeable about the material. Jeremy even pointed out a song that was the same rhythm as the compressions that you perform when you perform CPR which really helped. (Staying alive, Staying alive). I purchased several math classes for my granddaughter over a 3-5 month period prior to COVID-19…read more Our experience with Sylvan at that time was great and the director scheduled a meeting every 3 weeks to discuss her progress with me. After she finished the Math courses and prior to COVID starting, I purchased a reading class. Although the Sylvan centers in this area were still offering masked classes, I did not feel comfortable with my granddaughter attending - so I deferred sending her even though I'd already paid the money. Over a year later, after vaccines started and COVID was better, I contacted Sylvan to have my granddaughter start her class. This session was as different as day and night from the previous Math sessions. Whereas the staff had been very open and engaging, I found that I had to call or email several times to even get answers to any questions I had. The day prior to my granddaughter's last class, I realized that she'd had no reviews. I emailed Sylvan and asked if they still provided those. They said yes and for me to make an appointment. Well that was totally useless as she only had one more day of instruction left. I hate to say it, but I think since the money I'd paid them had already been spent over a year ago, they somehow didn't feel that they needed to be as engaged as before. Needless to say, I probably wouldn't use Sylvan again.

We put our notice in and did everything right. The refund is supposed to take up to 45 days. We are past day 60 now and have been lied to and given the run around. Told it was mailed. Didn't get anything in the mail. Tonight my husband called the center director and she said she had nothing to do with the refund a d gave him a 800 number to call to check on the status. He repeated it back to her and she confirmed. When he called the number, it was an adult hotline. Not a place you want to deal with. Sorry we ever stepped foot in the place.

Sat in lecture for 1 day with RN/program director she has jokes love her too! She is a bit strict when it comes to learning but tough love is always good. They were very accommodating with my schedule and answered all questions without getting frustrated. I would drive from Matthews to Gastonia for evening classes and 10/10 would do it all over again worth the drive & also they are a testing center a plus I didn't worry about finding or stressing over that I would say the uniforms I would prefer a solid color but eh not the main character of the experience.

Patricia Umanah seems particularly resistant to positive reinforcement, activities to keep students engaged, or updating her information. This is particularly disheartening for an instructor in the sciences. She gave students bad information about HIV. But I cringe every time she insists that skills be demonstrated to perfection the very first time and when students invariably fail her on their very first try, she gives them a laundry list of mistakes. Today I asked for a copy of my certificate of completion from Umanah. She said it would be five dollars. She asked about a bad review I had written on another site. I immediately admitted I didn't think much of her program and said as much online. Then she WITHHELD MY DOCUMENTS. She held my documents hostage (which are required for nursing school applications) because I didn't like her. That is low, low, low. Thankfully, she did call me later after I told her that the Board of Nursing might be interested in her personal vendettas, and gave me my documents.

I spent a while here and was able to see the staff engaging with others. I enjoyed the open layout. The teen area was busy and occupied most of the time. The staff was patient as children attempted to check out books and shared their enthusiasm about school events. I'd definitely return when in the area.
