I had to get my Iphone fixed at the Ipod Repair Centre, which is next door to Loan Star. It didn't look too sketchy from the front as I walked by, so I decided to just stop in. The sign outside said "Edmontons' Favorite Pawnshop", and it didn't take me long to figure out why!! the store was very well laid out, with sections for tools, guitars, electronics, and what looked like 1000 dvds' and bluray movies. Everything in this place was clean and well displayed. I was greeted as I walked in, but then left alone for a few minutes as I gawked at the 30+ guitars they had well placed on the wall. Then i had a conversation with one of the owners, who seemed to know as much about the guitars as the manufacturers did. He told me I was more than welcome to grab a guitar off the wall and plug it into one the many amps they had plugged in and give it a go!! Well, in the end I didn't end up buying a guitar, but did walk out with a surprise gift for my wife. I hope she likes the diamond earrings I got her for $200.00. They even came with an appraisal from the same guy I get all her jewellery appraised from. The owner said they get about 50 or 60 pairs made up every year due to the demand for them. I'm still not a big fan of pawnshops, but I am now a HUGE fan of Loan Star!!! These guys know their business, that's for sure!!

I lost 10 000$ on the car when I had to sell it because of it didn't start anymore.Sory but a car doesn't just stop running from being parked. A Month after getting the car back and selling it to Somone that person who purchased the car from me called back and said that I sold him a car that had a lean and after doing some research he had found out the owner of the pawn shop had over 85000 In debts and that the government was after him. It turns out that the owner of 118 pawn shop had secretly registered my vehicle having created a fake bill of sale and was actively using my car without my knowledge , broke the engine and than returned it back to me.THAN he even made us pay for the tow truck to haul our now broken car off his shops property. With his fake documentation he went to the bank and got a loan on MY car while it was pawned there. So NOBODY should go to this guy.this pour person who lost thousands on buying this car because of this shady pawn dealer got a loan from the bank and caused a lean on a car that he didn't even own.

Now there is a down side; unless the game is rare they are all in these plastic tubs, and if you're a browser, it's rather disorganized. however if you're looking for something specific the guy behind the counter will tell you if he has it or not, and sometimes will even fish the desired item out.

The merchandise is a nice mix of instruments, jewelry, antiques, sport stuff, and tools. Today I was looking for a guitar case for a used guitar my Husband has. The gentleman working there was so kind as to help ensure we had the right size, got us a unique hard case- at a great price. I couldn't be happier. Only downside is the neighbourhood is kinda rough- don't go after dark folks!

Excellent individuals, professional and knowledgeable with the products and jewelry etc. that they promote to sell. The most important thing that I value is their " Honesty ".
