This is only my second time being at the veterinarian office w Penelope, but both times have exceeded my expectations! The vet tech Laura was very knowledgeable and even gave me advice as what she would do with her own pets. She was caring and didnt mind to sit down with me and talk to me about my concerns. Everyone is very nice and the whole appointment was quick in and out! Hi sister are very affordable and reasonable. I would recommend them all day long to everyone that I know! My family has used Cascade Vet for over 30 years and I have always gotten quality care. I do like some of the vets better than others but have never had a problem. I do not agree with the other review and am sorry to hear that he/she had a bad experience. read more

With what ever problem I have had with any of my pets , they have been terrific. I would recommend them percent .

I have used Cascade for my pets in the past and I have loved the staff, but after the last visit, I will not be returning. In the medical field, there is a phrase "When you hear hoofbeats, think horses, not Zebras" It is to remind doctors to look at the most likely cause of an illness, test for it and then work up from there. This is for two reasons, one to keep doctors from performing unnecessary tests and procedures and two to keep doctors from working up a patient's bill for no reason. When I brought my pet to Cascade he was in a poor state, he was lethargic, panting, throwing up, and having diarrhea. After an hour's wait due to being a work-in, we were taken back to a room. When the vet came in he asked for more background, as I started to tell him about my pet he asked about things that were supposed to be in my pet's records. "What medication is he taking?", "Why is he taking it?", and "How many milligrams?", immediately after answering the questions put before me I asked the obvious question "Did his last visit not get put on his record?". The answer to that question made me want to pack up and take my pet to another vet, "I didn't look at them". My pet was having a hard time staying awake at this point and I knew that at the very least they could stabilize him and hopefully run some normal tests to help figure out what was wrong with him. The vet looked him over and stated that he was very dehydrated and that he should be hospitalized and get some IV fluids. The vet also wanted to run two blood tests to rule out a few things. I told the vet that I wanted my pet to be ok and that whatever was necessary to make that happen I was ok with him doing. I left my pet with the vet and I headed home. After a few hours of not hearing anything I called in to see how my pet was doing and I was told that he was stable, he had been administered 1/2 a bag of IV fluid and that his two tests came back normal. I was told that they were going to run a pancreatic test because the vet felt as though my pet had gotten into something he shouldn't have and that I would hear from them later. A few hours after that I called back, and I was informed that my pet's pancreatic test came back with slightly elevated levels and that the vet was certain my pet had gotten into people food. Now for anyone else, this could have been a possibility but for me and my pet it was not, I informed the receptionist that it was not a possibility and asked if I could come pick up my pet. I was informed the Vet would need to reassess my pet but that he was stable and looking a lot better. An hour after that call, I got a call stating that the vet wanted to keep my pet overnight for observation. This seemed a little odd to me as he had been doing "well" and was "so much better", so I decided to call another vet and provided them with my pet's records from Cascade. The second vet asked me if I could bring him to them after I picked him up from Cascade. So on Thursday morning I drove to Cascade and got there a few minutes after they opened. I informed them that I was there to pick up my pet and I was told that the vet wanted to come and talk to me. After an hour of waiting the vet came out and said "Can you come back later?", he started to walk away and I said, "No I can not, I have work from 10:15 am- 7:00 pm and he will not be staying overnight again". The vet told me that he advised against me taking my pet home and that my pet had just eaten but had not had a solid poop yet and he wanted to make sure he had a solid poop before sending him home. The vet also told me that my pet had gotten into people food, to which I explained yet again that it was not a possibility. He tried to tell me that my pet probably ate a bird to which I informed him that, due to the environment my pet is in, I would have known if he had eaten a bird. I told him that I understood that he advised against me taking him and that I would still be taking my pet with me. The vet informed me that it would be about 15 minutes so that he could get my pet ready to go. After 30 minutes my pet was brought out to me with 2 medications and a prescription food. I paid over $300 for his stay and prescriptions. Immediately after that, I drove him to the other vet. My pet was at the other vet for two hours because he was a drop-off and would be worked in as soon as possible. I received a call from the secondary vet they performed a fecal test and my pet had a bad case of worms. That's right he didn't eat people food, he didn't eat a bird, no he had a horrific amount of Coccidia. The secondary vet was concerned by the fact that Cascade did not perform a fecal test before running a $102 blood panel and giving my pet medications to mask the symptoms (anti nausea and antibiotic). The second vet gave my pet a dewormer and cleared him to go home with a follow-up visit for next Friday. After speaking with the secondary vet it is my understanding that the fecal test should've been done 1st. read more
