Blue Spruce Caboose - Cottage bedroom with wood fireplace

Secluded and peaceful location. Creative use of space inside the locomotive with every inch being used to its full potential. Board Games and movies were plentiful within the unit along with a smart tv which amplified the entertainment offerings. Stunning bathroom plus a separate claw foot tub in the bedroom area. It was clean, comfortable, and everything we could have hoped for. It's also walking distance to a wine bar that offered an array of food options and old fashioned flights. I would recommend this air bnb to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle but still have adventure and experiences within a short drive.

My wife always wanted to stay in a caboose and since her birthday was coming up, I booked us in for a weekend. And I pretty much won the weekend. The inside is beautifully decorated and painted. You have TV and DVD (there are some movies to chose from), wireless, coffee and tea along with creamer and sweeteners, eating utensils, a dorm fridge/freezer--basically everything a hotel would give you, only a little more and of nicer quality. We had our own private hot tub off the back of the caboose Lynda, the owner, was fabulous, and helped us out with dining suggestions, even keeping us apprised of weather and potential flash flooding warnings. We followed her recommendations and weren't disappointed. I highly recommend the breakfast as well. We were greeted at our door in the morning to mimosas, then bacon and eggs, and a delicious type of fresh fruit tart/pancake. I'm already dreaming up reasons to come back in the winter as I'm certain it'll be even more cosy.

They offer a continental breakfast each morning from 7am-9am. Perfect fuel up food and coffee for adventuring! You can tell this a family owned motel, they care about making sure we had a comfortable stay. Our room was spacious and clean, had everything we needed. It was so easy to get around, it's centrally located in town so we could walk to restaurants and shops. The free shuttle picks and drops off right outside the motel (loved this service!!). We visited Garden of the Gods, Cog Railway to Pikes Peak, and hiked Manitou Incline twice in our three day visit. I highly recommend staying at the Villa Motel for your Manitou Springs vacation!

The rooms, carpeting, AC unit, and linens all had a musty, moldy smell. The bathtub was stained, and the shampoo, conditioner, and body wash containers were broken and nearly empty. The toilet seat was broken and unstable. The TV wasn't working, and when we requested assistance that evening, the evening employee suggested unplugging it and plugging it back in. He never offered to come to the room and look at it but explained that this was the only solution he knew to try and would call the owner. Unfortunately, we were unable to watch TV until the following day. To make matters worse, the exterior of the hotel was being spray-painted, which limited parking and exposed our new white SUV to paint particles. The painters attempted to cover our vehicle with plastic, but it blew off and our vehicle was s exposed to potential damage. Although the young man at check-in was courteous and helpful, the overall condition of the hotel was unacceptable. Management needs to address these maintenance and cleanliness issues before I could recommend staying here.

My boyfriend and I were recently…read morevisiting family in Denver, and while in Colorado we decided to wander down towards Pikes Peak for some extra adventure. The Rocky Mountain Lodge was one of the first lodging options that popped up in my internet search, and, being on a tight budget, we mainly picked it because of the excellent price! Little did we know what a treat we were in for. The evening we arrived in Cascade, a long, winding, dark road led us up to this inviting lodge, bedazzled with magical Christmas lights and warmly-lit lanterns. In the office next door we found the innkeepers, Debbie and Brian, who happily greeted us and showed us around. The Lodge itself is amazing -- a wonderful and cozy building in excellent condition, with lovely rustic decor everywhere you turn. Already impressed with the place, we were pleasantly surprised to find there was a hot tub running outside (which we took advantage of, despite the cold November temperatures!) Our room was wonderful as well -- every last detail was attended to. Such a great place for a relaxing mountain getaway. I thought I was done with this review, but I nearly forgot about our complimentary breakfast. TO. DIE. FOR. Being the only two guests dining that morning, Debbie personally served the two of us an incredible three-course breakfast, with such accoutrements as homemade Devonshire cream, lemon curd, and peach preserves, made with locally-grown fruit. Delicious! It's awfully hard to have a bad day after dining on great food in such a serene setting, with such pleasant hosts. Thank you Brian and Debbie! Looking very forward to staying at the Rocky Mountain Lodge again.

However, management and front-of-house staff fell far short of expected hospitality standards, especially during a crisis. When a main city water line broke, we recognized the outage was out of the hotel's control. But how staff handled it was completely within their power. Basic service logistics fell apart. For instance, valet service left much to be desired, as we were unable to reach them by phone from the casitas. Overall, our group was treated like a burden rather than valued guests, which was particularly disappointing given that our company has chosen this resort for our corporate event for years. Rather than recognizing an opportunity to win back customer loyalty, the best management could offer was honoring our corporate rate, bringing the night down from around $600 to $400. Saving a couple hundred dollars after experiencing major facility disruptions is hardly an incentive. It felt short-sighted and greedy, prioritizing immediate marginal room revenue over long-term customer relationships. If management had offered a meaningful service recovery, such as a heavily discounted return stay, a comped night, or an upgraded future credit, they could have turned a bad situation into a demonstration of true luxury hospitality. Instead, we were left with lukewarm support and a clear impression that squeezing out dollars came before guest satisfaction. We will not be returning, nor will we be recommending this property for future corporate retreats or personal stays.
