Blue Spruce Caboose - Cottage bedroom with wood fireplace

    Blue Spruce Caboose

I love unique stays so when I saw this converted train car I knew I had to stay here. We stayed for…read morea weekend for my husband's birthday and had an incredible time. Secluded and peaceful location. Creative use of space inside the locomotive with every inch being used to its full potential. Board Games and movies were plentiful within the unit along with a smart tv which amplified the entertainment offerings. Stunning bathroom plus a separate claw foot tub in the bedroom area. It was clean, comfortable, and everything we could have hoped for. It's also walking distance to a wine bar that offered an array of food options and old fashioned flights. I would recommend this air bnb to anyone looking to get away from the hustle and bustle but still have adventure and experiences within a short drive.

My wife always wanted to stay in a caboose and since her birthday was coming up, I booked us in for a weekend. And I pretty much won the weekend. The inside is beautifully decorated and painted. You have TV and DVD (there are some movies to chose from), wireless, coffee and tea along with creamer and sweeteners, eating utensils, a dorm fridge/freezer--basically everything a hotel would give you, only a little more and of nicer quality. We had our own private hot tub off the back of the caboose Lynda, the owner, was fabulous, and helped us out with dining suggestions, even keeping us apprised of weather and potential flash flooding warnings. We followed her recommendations and weren't disappointed. I highly recommend the breakfast as well. We were greeted at our door in the morning to mimosas, then bacon and eggs, and a delicious type of fresh fruit tart/pancake. I'm already dreaming up reasons to come back in the winter as I'm certain it'll be even more cosy.

Each room is modeled after one of their favorite cities around the world. They make the breakfast every morning and both morning we were there it was delicious. The couple is very nice and you can tell both of them enjoy running the B and B. We stayed in the Copenhagen room which had a king size bed and a nice bathroom attached. It had a mini fridge in it and it was right next to the mini bar that comes with complimentary drinks! My wife and I stayed their the first two nights of our honeymoon and I wouldn't have wanted to stay anywhere else. We will most definitely be back many times.

I chose the Suffolk Room which was well-appointed with everything one would need. It even had interesting reading material from the owners' time in England. The bathroom had hairdryer, fluffy robes and slippers for use going to and from the hot tub, decorative homemade soaps, and the bedroom boasted a very comfortable mattress, soft linens, and fun themed decor. My dog was welcomed by the Rogers' pets, and pup Henri became a close friend of my spaniel. The food was fantastic, with the Scandinavian-recipe granola a big hit.The owners bent over backwards to make me welcome, and to be accommodating. The Rogers were even gracious to offer to have me go to dinner with them in town one evening. They are lovely people who also tell good stories about their life adventures and like making conversation. Buzz & Sandee have wine, beer and spirits available for an afternoon relaxation in their "pub." There are DVDs if you wish, and internet available. (I am not a tv person so didn't pay attention to tv). The setting is marvelous, in the forest with places for walking. The winner for me which will have me coming back is their hot tub where you can look up into the sky through the trees at the moon and stars at eventide into the night. So perfect in February! There is a pub fireplace to warm yourself after getting out from the hot tub. All the rooms are truly lovely in my opinion as I was able to peek into them all on a tour before other guests arrived. You can't go wrong with any room choice. If you don't wish stairs, I would recommend the Eulenbis & Kobenhavn rooms, or the smaller Uppland Vasby if you don't mind only a shower in the bath. I might do a room without stairs next time, but I do like a soak in a nice bath. The Rogers have a gem in the Pines, and their B&B (built specifically as a B&B) is my favorite so far in sampling those in Colorado (I've tried 6). Highly recommended. I will be back.
