There were never more than two other couples in the pool, which made for a nice, quiet vacation. Our unit was just off the pool, which was a good location. Our unit had a small pool on the second-floor patio, but it was fairly useless, as it filled at a pace that made me think that the water was being added with an eye dropper. We had a bit of an ant infestation in the second-floor bathroom, but the staff was quick to bring some bug spray. The guy who runs the swim-up bar was friendly, and had reasonable prices on beers and cocktails. While there are a few restaurants within easy walking distance, it would be nice if they had a burger bar or taco shop onsite. We rented a golf cart through WorldMark, and while it is a little expensive, I would still recommend it, as it is a great way to get around and explore the island.

We were done with the resort life and wanted a place to ourselves for our honeymoon. We had a few tourists peering over the wall but that comes with the territory. Pool - a private pool! We loved coming back at 3p (when things cooled down a bit) and floated around for a few hours. A great feature! Kitsch - come on, a house that looks like a shell?!! It was little mermaid come to life. We enjoyed our time at the Casa Caracol but be warned - the inside is a bit dated and the birds that rest on top of the shell (above the second story bedroom) will wake you with their squawking as early as 6a! If that doesn't bother you, park your golf cart in the paved spot outside the fence and enjoy the fun!

They also have a convenience store which was nice and we can buy eggs, bacon, bread etc for our breakfast. The room has a good size kitchen, stove top, microwave , toaster and kitchen utensil which was very good for us since my son likes simple things and we can easily make it and less expensive ad well:) One thing I like most also is because of our room location we can just have breakfast in our balcony and see the pool and the ocean and walk while see my son in the balcony which is amazing! Today is our last day but we are definitely coming back to Cancun. The one thing we don't like so much is the pillows and the bed little hard it hurts our neck. So the pool doesn't get any sunshine until about 11am and then it's in the shadow from 4:30pm onwards. The beach outside the hotel is very shallow. The water will reach your knees for quite some distance until there's a drop. I'm not sure if this is naturally occurring or man made. It is also far from the other hotels where they typically provide water sports (jet skis, parasailing etc). They provide airport transportation at 350 pesos per trip. This is much cheaper than hiring a private car.

For years, we stayed at all-inclusive resorts, but recently turned in favor of more off-the-beaten path properties that afford you the chance to explore the city a little bit more, since meals aren't available 24/7. We found a nice house on VRBO that ended up being managed by Playacar Vacation Rentals. You'll find it on their website as Casa Stavola / F8. It was a perfect beachfront property located in Playcar Phase I that housed six of us! With a pool, full kitchen, large living room and lots of amenities, I couldn't have asked for anything more. Our place was well situated to the rest of town but felt very quiet the second you entered the Phase I complex. We arranged our own transportation from the airport but upon arriving to the house, I had to make my way to the vacation rental office to pick up the key. Citlaly was so welcoming and willing to help with whatever we needed. From excursions to taxi pickups, they can do it all. We used them to rent a boat one afternoon and everything went flawlessly. The properties themselves are very well managed. There is cleaning service every other day, they provide big jugs of drinking water regularly, staff is around to take care of anything that may break and, all in all, it feels very safe. We are hoping to make this a yearly trip and I imagine us returning to the same exact spot! Really wouldn't change a thing.

Some owners handle rentals themselves, in which case, you typically have to search on VRBO or ABNB by # bedrooms, location, price etc. Several of the units are now managed/rented via Your Property Solutions Puerto Morelos, Sharon Webb. The building is BEAUTIFUL, best location on the beach in our opinion. 10 min beach walk to the town square, grocery store, restaurants etc. There are beach clubs nearly next door if you want a bit more action/energy. Units have fully equipped kitchens. We usually have breakfast "at home", lunch on the beach (beach bar or beach food vendors) & dinner out, so many great restaurants in walking distance. Not a party place, but wonderful base for couples/friends to relax, enjoy the beach, pool & lovely town.

From the minute we got there, we were mesmerized by the beauty of the ocean, the gorgeous house and the enchanting feeling we got walking in the door. We stayed in the Penthouse and had full access to the entire property; the beach, the pool, the lounge area, the water toys and the hammock (my favorite!). There is someone onsite the entire time for anything you need, they offer cleaning and cooking services but all we really needed were clean towels and they were provided in a timely manner. We did very little touristy stuff because none of us wanted to leave this slice of heaven, aside from food, and obviously, beer runs, we hardly left the property; and I'm sure speak for everyone that was there, we have no regrets about that! Our vacation was right after the untimely death of our beloved bulldog and to our surprise, there were two dogs onsite that brought much needed comfort to us, thank you Wolly and Negrita for that, you're both now forever in my heart.
