Brisket tacos, rice, pinto beans and green chili!
    Heather V.

Me and my hubby are doing a weekend in T or C and on the way back to T or C from Bosque Del Apache we wanted lunch and a stop at Elephant Butte. Reviews led us to Casa Taco! Yum!! We had the Casa Taco lager brewed by a local brewery, very nice. Then I had 3 brisket tacos with rice and pinto beans and a side of green chili. All so so yummy. My hubby had 3 tacos, a brisket, tilapia and a shrimp. All so very good. We will come back on our way back home to Albuquerque and any time we are in the area! Super nice guy at the register too. Come by here. This place is packed.

I've been here off and on over the years and it's ok. I think the prices are just a bit expensive for me and this is my opinion. The tacos are large and a little greasy but I like them like that. The chips are fresh and delicious. I had beef enchiladas and to my surprise they came rolled, full of beef and cheese. The chile cheese fries were shoestring fries which is fine. The beans were good but I didn't like the rice. Free refill fountain drinks is a good deal. Service was good and friendly. The tables were sticky but there was only one waitress and it was busy so she was doing all she could. Overall ok.

    Dips trio!

The best tacos I've ever had! Highly recommend the dips trio as well. Staff was super friendly. Would definitely go back!!

Fun spot for specialty tacos. They are served in corn tortilla or puffy (fried tortilla). I had the shrimp Veracruz taco, the jerk chicken taco, and the beef verde puffy taco. A sauce came in a small cup to accompany. The jerk chicken had a wonderful flavor of the Caribbean. I've had jerk chicken at other restaurants, and the seasoning was quite reminiscent. The shrimp Veracruz had small fruit (mango?) chunks along with a great sauce and other fresh ingredients. The puffy taco had a great crunch and loaded with the lettuce, tomato and beef. For me, the beef was not particular seasoned. It was good, but if it was indeed seasoned, I didn't taste it so much. I called and asked if there was indoor seating. It was a hot day. The seating area was under construction and will be nice when it's done. But it certainly wasn't cool as the windows had not been installed. So "indoor" meant a covering over your head, but it was warm due to open windows and being under construction. My friend ordered guacamole. The chips reminded me of those house made. The guacamole was so fresh!

Bigfoot burger and rosemary fries 1000/10 Cashew chicken, which came with a choice of rice (I got fried), sautéed vegetables (delicious) and an award-worthy egg roll. Chicken was good, but not as good as the burger. I think they use chicken breast, I'm more used to having thighs in these types of dishes. Just a personal preference. The egg roll, however was delicious. Two pints (and then two more) of the hef on draft to seal the deal. In short: go if you get a chance, go without any hesitation! Food is delicious, the venue is very cute and service is incredibly attentive and speedy! You won't regret it!

(Never got used to the cold version in Boston.) It was a mixture of lobster and other seafood but quite nice. My side was a green salad with a vinaigrette dressing and it was really fresh and good. My dinner companion had the truffle fries as his side. I couldn't resist stealing a few from his plate and they were very tasty. He ordered a Santa's Nightcap seasonal cocktail made with eggnog, rum, coffee liquer, whipped cream, and topped with a gingerbread man! I had an espresso martini. It was fine. I have nothing to compare it to since it was my first. The inside was nice but a bit on the small side. The booths had been reserved so we sat at a table in the middle of the room. The woman who waited on us was very welcoming. I must also mention the dog-friendly patio, complete with heat lamps. It looked magical decorated with hundreds of tiny lights. This restaurant is definitely a place to try. You can't miss it due to the giant Bigfoot statue on the sign in front!

My one suggestion, the green chili sauce could be a bit thicker and spicier with more green chili, I mean T or C is what 30 or so north of Hatch? I got mine with diced onions, next time without definitely. The beans and rice were excellent as well. Small, busy location so it's a bit noisy to have a conversation. The staffing was excellent. The owner is a gem. She even pulled/sold me an apron off the wall i admired. T or C is fortunate to have such an excellent restaurant.

I have…read morenever heard so many bizarre reasons as to why a dog cannot even be on the premises; first one was because of a "code," second one was because there is a bad dog next door that might hurt or kill my dog and the third one was their liability insurance. Not sure if I believed any of those reasons but I ordered food to go because of the Yelp. After looking into the New Mexico restaurant liability insurance explanation, I now know that this place just flat out doesn't like dogs anywhere. I feel like "dog friendly" should be another option on Yelp since so many people now travel with their pets. I should have left because it was very hot and windy and the owners were extremely rude but, against my husbands wishes, I ordered to go based on the food reviews and also based on nostalgia (because the location was the exact location for great Mexican food in the 1980's. Now to the food: I ordered the large combo. It was good but not the best New Mexico Mexican food. The cheese enchiladas were okay. The taco was not crispy, probably because it was squeezed into a styrofoam container, and was made with hamburger meat. I was hoping for shredded beef. Oh well. The chile relleno was good, not the best. Overall, the food was good but I've had better. The green chile sauce was better than good. I honestly think that if we had been allowed to dine outdoors on the premises, the food would have been served on a bigger plate and I would have been able to distinguish what I was eating better. Would I eat here again...that's a big fat nope. Nor would they want me to, probably. The owner(s) were rude. The food was mediocre at best. I loved raising my girls and living in T or C back in the 80's, but I will never stop there again to eat because the people at Tony's.
