This is my favorite place to visit when in town on business. They have the best beef green enchiladas and breakfast burrito I've had. I tell all my friends that pass through to make sure they stop by and those that do always love it. They're not spicy they just have a nice kick that enhances the flavor and the servings are big. For the first twenty times that I went, I ordered the Chimichanga with chunky meat, red & green (Christmas) and with an egg on top. Just had a great breakfast. We stopped on our drive south on I25 in T or C. I had the machaco breakfast burritos. It was great. Shredded beef was very flavorful. My husband and I stopped in for breakfast and got Huevos con machaca and huevos rancheros. Both were "Christmas style" (red and green chili sauce), which made both dishes THAT much better! I ordered the number one combo: a taco, cheese enchilada, chile relleno, beans and rice. It was a lot of food. Didn't get a chance to try the food. The hostess stopped us at the door because we had an 8 week old Maltepoo pup. She asked if she was a emotional support dog or a service dog, and the way she said it it was leading us to say EmotionL Support, so we fell for it and she told us only service dogs are allowed. Not sure any 8 week old pup can count as a service dog. We were told by our front desk person at the hotel near by that this whole town is very pet friendly but, that's not what we are getting. When we arrived in T&C, there wasn't a lot open. Covid appears to have really hit local restaurants hard. Many places are closed mid week, so plan accordingly. We found El Faro open, and we're super happy we did. The food is delicious and comes in generous portions. I had the best home fried potatoes with my breakfast...I wish I could make them half as well our server was friendly and helpful. We were happy to have found El Faro...and will visit again next time we are in T&C. read more

We ordered the special that day, Cheese Enchilada plate $7.25 (3 Stars) and the Taco Salad $7.25 (3 Stars) It was good food overall. The beans tasted like there was some Manteca in them and the rice was OK. Everything we ordered was delicious! Upon sitting down at this casual diner the server immediately brought out a flavorful, spicy but not too hot salsa and tasty, thin, perfectly salted chips. Food came out quickly and server was very attentive to refilling our drinks. We ordered the chicken flauta plate with a side of medium green chile sauce, combo #1, and green chile stew (generous, super tender beef with beans). The flautas were freshly made with a delicate fried shell. Guacamole was smooth, creamy, and made of perfectly ripe avocados. Highly recommend the savory green chile sauce (medium) as an excellent complement to flautas, rice, or anything on your plate really. The green chile sauce had a subtle kick so spice-lovers could easily graduate to the spicier version. My raspberry flavored ice tea was surprisingly not too sweet (usually I need to add water). I visited here with my wife in the dog days of summer. It was one of the few restaurants open in T or C. Thanks a lot Covid. Anyway, they allowed us to take our fake dog, AKA Pomeranian, onto the back patio to enjoy the fan with us. My wife had the combination #2 plate, with real Coke with sugar, from Mexico. She enjoyed her plate a ton and it filled her up. They have generous servings here. I ordered a red smothered chimichanga, a Christmas chile relleno, and an a la carte beef taco. The food was good, the salsa hot, and the chips crispy with just the right amount of grease to make them melt in your mouth. I went here last week for dine in. The food was pretty good, but none of the employees were wearing masks...the cooks in the back, service staff, front cashiers, etc. I don't care about personal politics or even if you are delusional enough to think COVID is a hoax or conspiracy, but if you're going to serve the public at a restaurant and defy the widespread recommendation/law about masks, then you really don't deserve to be open right now. The staff was nice, don't get me wrong, but for literally every employee not to be wearing a mask while making food and taking orders is selfish and/or immense ignorance.
