Today I learned what real Spanish food is all about! I'm walking the Camino Santiago and have been through many towns, most serving the same simple fried menus. I was about to give up on Spanish food until today. The receptionist at our hotel recommended several restaurants that serve authentic Spanish food.We found this wonderful locals tapas bar and restaurant , deciding to give it a chance. The tapas looked amazing but we were really hungry and decided on the menu del día/specials of the day. For less than 20$per person you get a starter, main course, bread, dessert and a bottle of wine. My starter was a big salad with lettuce, peppers, olives, tomatoes, potatoes, and onions. It was served with fresh bread and olive oil. My sister had a bean soup with chorizo. We both agreed it was a great start. The bottle of red wine was fantastic.I had a veal dish and my sister had pork. We took our time eating making sure to savor every bite. The food was absolutely delicious! Just when you thought it couldn't get any better, dessert was served. Without a doubt in my mind, this was the best flan I've had in my life! It took me twenty minutes just to eat it because I paused to appreciate every spoonful. If you are ever in Burgos you must dine here. The crowd is friendly locals. The service (thank you Santiago) was perfecto! It was a memorable meal. If I lived here I'd be a regular!I can't imagine anything coming out of their kitchen is anything less than delicious. read more
