Miracle - So good! This is Fideua which is slightly lighter/not as filling as rice, very tasty!

The waitress was very friendly and although technically lunch isn't served until 1pm (a typical Catalan tradition, especially on Sundays) she offered the menu plus the signage was already out to lure hungry passerbys. This month happens to be a very busy Tarragona Festival and seating in old city is difficult to come by, so it was truly delightful to have open seats, have prompt service & have many options of paella for 1 or 2 people. Note: A lot of places across Spain have a minimum requirement of 2 or more for the kitchen to prepare any paella but just like the name, the Miracle wants you to order individually or to share two different varieties of paella. My foodie tastebuds are very satisfied! Near the end, the manager came by to say "Etas Bien?" Indeed it was! While it might not stand out from curbside appeal, it's definitely a standout experience in the quaint little town of Tarragona!

We were expecting to put our names down but he said he'd remember our faces! The restaurant is right on a beautiful & lively walkway by the sea, so 45 min went by quickly. We were starving by then but the food was definitely yummy - I got the prawn pesto tagliatelle, which was creamy and fresh. My friend got a vegetarian salad, and we both got glasses of red sangria, which was fruity and quite strong lol. I will say they didn't have that many appealing vegetarian options, but that seems to be the case in most of Spain. Service & ambience were on point too, and the owner made an effort to make us feel at home, would recommend this place

Miracle - Sidewalk cafe, signage for paella (yes they offer 1 or 2 person which is uncommon in the area)

Minuses: Its real downfall was the service; it was horrible. We had the darker-haired of two waitresses, who, in addition to being incompetent, was bitchy and condescending. The restaurant was fairly quiet when we visited, yet on multiple occasions she appeared to be consciously ignoring our attempts to get her attention (because she had forgotten something else). She even took a jab at the British proclivity for drinking, assuming we were from the UK (we aren't, and had about 2 drinks apiece, not that it matters). We won't be returning and as we live in the area, entertain many visitors and dine out often, La Barraca has lost some business. Note: This visit was last summer, so the service might have changed. I certainly hope so!

He refused to speak Spanish to us and only spoke Catalan back to us. When he figured out that we couldnt understand Catalan he told us in somewhat broken English that all tables were reserved and the only spot left was in the sun. There was absolutely no doubt about the fact that he just didnt want to help us since he was a lot more friendly to the local guests that did speak Catalan. Would not recommend going here.
