We just so happened to be in the Eau Claire area running an errand, and before we drove back home,…read morewe were feeling a bit peckish. We decided to check this place out for lunch since it wasn't too far from our current location. The restaurant sits in the middle of a strip mall, so parking was very easy and convenient. Inside the restaurant, a mini market selling basic Mexican ingredients and pantry goods is connected to it. Upon entering the restaurant, we were greeted promptly and picked out a table to sit at. We came during lunch time on a weekday and there was quite a bit of people in the dining area (it wasn't packed, but for a weekday lunch rush it was fairly busy). We ordered the ground beef chimichanga and beef tongue tacos. The chimichanga was fried perfectly and the ground beef was very well seasoned. It was hands down one of the best chimichangas we've ever tasted. The tacos were also delicious. The beef tongue was very tender and the salsas that came with our meal paired excellently with the tacos. I also very much enjoyed the seasoned radish that came with the tacos as an extra condiment because it gave the tacos more crunch and texture. Overall, the food was excellent. Service was fast and very friendly. The dining atmosphere was casual and it reminded of the hole-in-the wall places I used to frequent during my childhood. As a California native, I approve. So far this has been the best Mexican restaurant (in the Midwest) that we've tried. Would highly recommend checking this place out if you are in the area.

Came with rice, beans, lettuce, and tortillas. It was cooked well, but lacked seasonings. The rice and beans were fairly bland as well. Overall OK, but could be better. 1 man, 2 cents...

This restaurant is recently under new management! Great atmosphere, great food great service!…read more Looking forward to visiting soon!!

Staying at a nearby hotel we had a taste for something Mexican and found Juanita's nearby, so we…read morethought we would give it a try. It's in a nice multi use development off River Prairie in a stand alone building shared with several other businesses. They have a great outdoor patio area as well, with some shade. So we were quickly seated by the hostess ( who also brought us tortilla chips and salsas. Within a minute a waiter(we assumed) came over and asked if we wanted to order any drinks. We give him our order and off he goes. In a few minutes another waiter comes to our table and asks the same thing. I tell him we just provided another waiter with our order. His response, oh, that's the bus boy??? ‍ So we give him the drink order and off he goes. After our drinks arrive our waiter asks if we are ready to order and we give him our order as it is starting to get busy with some larger tables filling up. We ended up ordering the carne asada plate and a chicken tamale plate with extra pork tamale. All the plates come with beans and rice as sides. Our meals arrive and they look great. Unfortunately, the carne asada was very tough. Not sure if they marinaded it at all or what, but was very tough. This is my wife's go to meal when eating Mexican, so she is very familiar with how it should taste and even cut. Sadly the tortillas were very greasy, which you can see in the pictures. Not sure if they sprayed them with oil before heating, but not great. My tamales were just ok. Meat was very dry even when I added a a lot of hot sauce. The rice and beans were ok as well. So overall kind of average. Would I come back again, probably not. There seemed to be a lot of Mexican restaurants in the Altoona/Eau Claire area that I would try before coming back.
