I ordered a box of Casa Fernandez Anagorsa cigars 2 weeks ago at a good sale price there. They arrived. They were a bit dry (not even a water pillow included in their ground shipping) but I figured it was a good price so I'd just bring them back to life in the humi for a few months before smoking them. I went back online there and the price had gone up to over 15% higher than anywhere else I could find them on the web. What an increase! So, last Friday I ordered a few boxes of Casa Fernandez Miam Reserva Toros since those were still on sale (or so I was lead to believe). This morning I get a call from Tina at Nat Sherman who says their online price was an error and they cannot honor that price for any of my order but they'd be happy to charge me more than 10% higher than anyone else online and throw in a free cigar and free shipping. I cannot remember the last time a business would not honor their posted price. I also cannot remember the last time a store has pulled such a scam. Shame on you Nat Sherman. Add to that the fact that their only good review on here is from a guy who seriously sounds like he works for them in the marketing department (telling you you're gonna get the ladies with nats. and knows everything they carry, gimme a break.) and I'd just steer clear of this company.

I visited this elegant local tobacco shop after lunch, and it was a fantastic experience. The shop offers a great selection of cigars, and the owner is incredibly friendly and knowledgeable. She even prepared an excellent espresso to pair with my cigar, which was a nice touch. I enjoyed a Don Carlos in a quiet, relaxed setting since the shop wasn't busy at the time. The owner explained that lounge access is prioritized for members, which I appreciated, as I understand members pay a fee to enjoy the lounge 24/7. Some people have voiced concerns about seating, but I think it's fair given the exclusivity for members. While I was there, I saw her help a member select a cigar with impressive expertise. The member was also very friendly and welcoming--he chose a cigar I had been curious about, and he kindly shared his thoughts on it with me. After doing my research, I decided on Prometheus. Their reputation for reliability, style and quality is virtually unsurpassed in the industry and I spent the better part of a slow morning at work trying to find an online resource with a decent selection. Unfortunately, I couldn't find many. J&R in Paramus had a few in stock but they were over $100 above list price and I wasn't prepared to do that. I went back to Prometheus' website and found Cigar World. After a quick call, I discovered they had the model I wanted in my specific veneer choice and off I was to pick it up. This is really a wonderful store with a virtually limitless selection of tobacciana and related accessories. I could have easily spent an afternoon doing some heavy damage in there. The only drawback is that, not surprisingly, the place was filled with smoke and I really wanted to get the hell out before my suit started to reek. I know that I'm in the minority of casual cigar smokers who will only partake in extremely well ventilated lounges or more frequently outside. And, if you think about it, me bitching that a cigar store smelled like cigars is really kind of moronic but hey, that's me. Anyway, if you're looking for a really great selection and friendly, attentive service, I recommend them highly. I'm sure I'll be back there soon, this time dressed a bit more casually.
