It's not the most modern or even up to date shelving or cases! The building has always looked the same and never have I seen any upgrades which could translate to lower prices! And there's always Eddie or Al with a sharp crayon to "mahk it down for ya"! Roxies is really an institution transcending a small, service oriented market. I would visit as a kid with my mom almost weekly. later as an adult, my mom would have me stop at Roxies on her way home from weekly hospital trips for cancer treatment. It really was the best form of chemo to see her spirits lift upon slowly walking inside, directing me to scout the deals in the back of the store meat chest. If she had a chance to see Eddie, Al (regardless if she got the "mark down"), and a few others she came to know through the years, well - just icing on the cake. Truly more than just a market. Alot of kindness and service rarely seen in similiar businesses! Bless you Roxies for many enjoyable moments during so many difficult days for my mom. a few weeks back I had a chance to see Al and Eddie on 2 separate occassions to express my appreciation for what a trip to their store meant for my mom.

First of all, they have a fabulous hot lunch bar that closes at 2 o'clock. I am always cognizant of when the clock will strike too because I always think if I wanna eat some food there I better get myself to Previte's Marketplace lickety split. The marketplace shares a building with a bakery that I will review separately. The marketplace and the bakery are separate businesses under separate ownership and management. There is a common area sort of like wide hallway in between the bakery and Previte's Marketplace with several tables at which patrons may sit and eat whatever they have purchased from either of these two businesses. As for Previte's Marketplace, there are typically lines of people waiting to get a fresh hot lunch that might include fresh, sliced turkey, meat, stuffing, mashed potatoes, delicious gravy, and more. over there right away. I'm focusing on this delicious Thanksgiving like spread that's available year-round because it's one of my absolute favorite things to eat at Previte's Marketplace. The marketplace has all different kinds of meat and other protein, including red meat, poultry, lamb,, pork, and veal and more. Proves marketplace has skilled butchers ready to cut the meat to your liking. Previte's Marketplace also has a multitude of prepared entrées ready for you to take home to serve to your family and friends or to bring to any social gathering. Such choices include cocktail, meatballs, and sauce, chicken, Parmesan, meat, and cheese, lasagna, and much more. They also have quiches and salads and more. Previte's Marketplace also has a full scale catering service that is available. Although I have not tried using their catering the service, I cannot imagine that the food would be any less wonderful at a catered affair than it is being carried out by oneself for lunch or dinner. By the way, there are a couple of tables just outside of the marketplace, but still inside the building in which Previte's Marketplace is housed. I frequently get my lunch there and of course, most often I get the turkey stuffing and mashed potato plate. By the way, they also make turkey stuffing and cranberry sauce submarine sandwiches. Absolutely delicious but very messy so get plenty of napkins! The only negative thing about this location is the actual location itself: it's on a very busy road with very limited parking, although there are some parking spots across the street. Be very careful when you cross the road! I highly recommend Previte's Marketplace. See my review of Previte's Marketplace in Hanover as well!

Kinnealey is a large area supplier to restaurants. They have a business connection with John Dewar & Co. in Newton, an amazing butcher where I used to get all my meat until I realized that this branch is closer for me. (The butcher at Kinnealey told me they own Dewar but I checked the Web sites and it doesn't say that. There is a link from Kinnealey's site to Dewar's.) Unlike chain supermarkets, where you're really not sure how long the meat has been sitting in its package, the meat at Kinnealey is kept very fresh. Like an old-fashioned butcher, there is friendly staff available to help with advice and fill custom orders. For example, depending on your needs they may grind burger meat as you wait--for example if you are buying a lot or have a special request ie. 85% fat when all that's out is 80%. Kinnealey is located inside the Milton Fruit Center Marketplace, which has the best produce I've found in the city of Boston. I'll be reviewing that separately! Anyway, you have to pay at Kinnealey separately from your groceries. I prefer several things about Dewar--mainly that your beef is always ground fresh and your steak is cut for you as there are *no* prepackaged items. Dewar is *even more* like an old-fashioned butcher of my childhood. However, given that for me Dewar is further, Kinnealey is a great option!

I've never had a bad sandwich from there. I've tried the chopped cheese, steak and cheese, and buffalo chicken sandwiches. I've really enjoyed the chopped cheese and steak and cheese and can say that are favorites for me. I also like grabbing one of their cold-cut sandwiches to take to the beach as an easy snack. I haven't tried anything from the salad or hot bar yet, but it always looks really good. It gets pretty busy, so I'm guessing it's popular for a reason. I also buy my meat and fish there because everything always looks fresh and the quality has been great. The produce I've picked up has always been fresh too. Don't forget their garden section with a great selection for seasonal favorites. It's clean and very organized, so easy to find what you need. The staff is always friendly and welcoming, which makes shopping there even better. If you have not been, you are mission out on a neighborhood gem.

I approached the deli counter to order a sandwich while my sister was elsewhere getting other food. There were multiple employees working behind the counter, and I patiently waited while the customer ahead of me was being assisted. Once that customer was finished, I was next. However, despite several employees being present, not one acknowledged me, asked if I needed assistance, or attempted to take my order. What made the situation particularly uncomfortable was that when my sister, who is considerably lighter-skinned than I am, approached the counter after me, she was immediately acknowledged and assisted. The difference in treatment was impossible for me to ignore. As a darker-skinned Black woman, I am aware that racial bias and colorism can influence everyday interactions, including something as simple as customer service. I cannot speak to the intentions of the employees, but I can certainly speak to my experience and how it made me feel. It was disappointing to stand there, visibly waiting to spend my money, while multiple employees failed to acknowledge my presence, only to watch someone who approached afterward receive immediate service. We ultimately got our food and left without confrontation, but the experience stayed with me. I don't expect preferential treatment. I expect the same basic courtesy and acknowledgment that every paying customer deserves. No customer should have to wonder whether their complexion determines how visible they are to the people serving them.

Since my husband and I were in Quincy to visit the Adams National Historical Park, we decided to…read morestop by this H Mart for lunch (as there is a food court here) and also to do some grocery shopping. The food court has quite a good selection of restaurants to choose from, in addition to having Tous Les Jours bakery and also Gong Cha. There is plenty of seating and there are also restrooms available. After we had lunch, we ended up purchasing the following from the market side: FInger Kimbap, $6.99 prior to tax- Picked up these to bring with us tomorrow on a day trip to Springfield, MA. Shrimp Tempura Kimbap, $8.99 prior to tax- Picked up these to bring with us tomorrow on a day trip to Springfield, MA. Razor Clams, $22.34 prior to tax- Rarely have we seen razor clams sold in a market (the only other one we have seen them was at a T&T Supermarket in Washington). So we decided to purchase them, even though the price did seem more expensive. We ended up purchasing a little over a pound (it was $14.99 per pound). My husband cooked them back at our Airbnb and they were delicious. Live Lobster, $13.10 prior to tax- Price for live lobster is significantly cheaper than back home in Los Angeles so we knew we had to get one (the last time we were in Boston, we dined out for Lobster over a handful of times and also did purchase them from seafood markets). Lobster was only $7.99 per pound, we got close to 2 pounds. My husband also cooked this back at our Airbnb and the meat was nice and sweet. Pink Apple, $2.51 prior to tax- Ended up only purchasing 2 apples because the quality of fruit seemed to be rather sub par. ----------------------------- (Total= $55 after tax) When we were in the seafood department, we were able to get an employee's attention to help us. But we did see this one young guy just standing there waiting to see if any one would help him. I think at these places, you have to get the attention of the employees if you want to be helped since there was no number or ticket to get for someone to call you when its your turn. Also I was greatly disappointed with the quality of produce on this visit. A lot of the fruit was rather poor quality, looking like some of the fruit was too ripe. And some of the vegetables looked old. Overall, I think our shopping experience was good, just wished the produce was better. But the prices seemed to be pretty good in general and similar to what I have seen back home at our local H Mart. If I was local to this area, I would most likely be a regular here.
