This palace is one of the rare examples of Medieval stately and mercantile architecture in the Basque Country.
In its interior there is a tower which, in spite of the transformations it has undergone, still retains important structural elements of the period between the 13th and 15th centuries.
The building, constructed in the 15th century, has witnessed important events in Spanish history: the Catholic Kings and Felipe el Hermoso (Philip the Handsome) stayed here, and it is said that Adrian of Utrecht received the news of his election as Pope Adrian V1 in this very house.
Today it houses a modern company and business (the Vital Foundation), but they allow visitors come to see the well-kept remains of this palace as dozens of Spaniards work their daily tasks. The site is also used as a conference center and exposition hall. read more
