The free breakfast was just icing on the cake. Honestly I cannot think of anything negative about this place. I guess if I had one suggestion it would be to maybe offer a little more hot items for the breakfast like Scrambled Eggs, Sausage and Pancakes/Waffles. But hey its free and what they had was still good so I can't really complain. I plan on visiting White Sands someday and I know this will be the place to stay when I do! They worked with us and extended the trip with no issues. The rental was straight forward and the details of what was expected of us and what was at the cabin was all spelled out ? I got our deposit back about 2 weeks after the trip. The cabin is listed as a 3 bedroom. It has a normal size bedroom downstairs, one large master upstairs and a very small room with a fold out bed. Worked for our son and two GrandKids. Probably not for me and my wife. Master was large and roomy but it is an open air concept? So the balcony is over the living room. If a party is going on downstairs....you'll hear it in the master! The cabin was ok...needs a little TLC if it were mine! Great views of the woods behind the cabin. We had deer in the yard all 4 days. The hot tub is great! Deck has a dining table and bbq grill. Not fancy but very useable. The pool table is on a 1degree slope... Internet kept going down so we resorted to our Verizon MiFi. Lots of parking..we gad three full size cars there. The deck & hot tub are private except for a next door neighbor. Views were great with two hummingbird feeders and lots of birds using them. Location is very convenient to town. Take a backroad to Inn of the Mountains. If it were just the two of us, we'd probably rent again. With two sons plus family & GrandKids, we would probably look for something larger and maybe a little upscale next time. We had a great time. Casinos, eating out, drive up the ski area...and don't bet on Crypthasarrived ( race horse)...you'll loose your $40 bucks!

We booked "Cedarside Cabin K9 Friendly" for a long-planned family trip, expecting a clean, modern getaway. Instead, we arrived to find a severely neglected house that has clearly skipped basic sanitation for months. The guest towels were covered in deep yellow and brown stains, the kitchen was caked in structural grease, and the master bedroom box spring was completely broken and caved in, forcing us to sleep on literal metal springs. We paid almost $400 a night for this rental with their fees. It was outrageous. Worse than the broken furniture is the active public health hazard inside this property. The mechanical ceiling fan blades are blanketed in thick, caked black grime that forcefully flings historical dust and insect debris directly into the air. Crucially, the bathroom features what appears to be visible, active mold colonies festering along the baseboards. This toxic environment triggered an acute respiratory emergency for an asthmatic and autoimmune-compromised family member, causing her breathing to deteriorate. We desperately wanted to leave, but we were logistically trapped: the entire village of Ruidoso was at 100% capacity for the XTERRA festival with zero vacancies, and we could not safely execute a 4-hour drive back with an exhausted family. We were forced to endure these hazardous conditions just to have shelter. We remained outside for most of the time and kept doors open at times because of the odor. The moment we got home, our family member had to immediately get onto her prescribed emergency medical rescue nebulizer to stabilize her lungs. When we contacted management, their response was insulting. They casually dismissed active mold, structural damage, and filthy linens as mere "housekeeping concerns," hiding behind an absurd contract clause about mountain spiders to evade liability. They then abandoned us entirely, stating their office was closed for the weekend. A formal public health and code violation complaint has been officially lodged with the Village of Ruidoso Short-Term Rental Code Enforcement office, and a complete credit card fraud dispute is underway. We also notice that in a few pictures it seems that AI may have been used. Please be very wary. This company is refusing to give us back our funds, but seeing as we work with and for law enforcement and local DA, we will be seeking this alternative route should they choose not to follow through with a refund. They stated the house was cleaned and inspected and up to order. Do these pictures really show that? This company is abhorrent and rated one of the lowest cabin rentals we've you search reviews on sites other than VRBO.

Two families stayed in one cabin and had anything you could ever want in a home away from home. We arrived late in the night, and everything was ready for us upon arrival, the place was warm, clean, and welcoming. The place was outfitted, and had anything you could ever imagine in a furnished cabin (internet, cable, dishes, personal heaters for each room, etc.). No, the place isn't nestled in Old Town, but you are not far from there. Very close to other eateries well worth visiting. Not too far from your local ski slopes, and other tourist sites down the mountain. Karl was an excellent host. He checked in on us all the time, and made sure that we weren't ever without. It comes as no surprise that they 2021 (and potentially 2022) Traveler's Choice for Hotel location on TripAdvisor. We shall return.

The kitchenette has everything you would want to prepare your own meals, or you can take advantage of all the local restaurants. Karl and Laura are solicitous, generous, attentive, and so kind. I can't forget to include Rascal, the sweetest kitten I've ever met!! My husband and I felt welcomed and at peace. Family friendly but also romantic for couples! We extended our stay because we weren't ready to leave after three nights! A days drive from Central Texas, so we will definitely be back. I think we've found our home away from home! We went on three gorgeous hikes each day, all within 15 minutes drive.
