We ordered a picture of sangria (6 glasses) which was tasty but a bit watery. Also an order of potato croquettes and Pulpo both of which were amazing. PLUS they gave us wonderful bread and a tomato, olive, onion and potato salad which was very vinegary and delish. My wife and I left feeling full and happy. I hope we can visit again before we leave Madrid.

But the place he recommended had closed! Then we ran into a British expat who without a beat said we just come here. My husband ordered lamb and said it was the best lamb he's ever had. (Something to the extent of "every bite unlocks a new flavor profile" and he'd be happy with it as his last meal if he were to die tomorrow so dramatic ...) We ordered pulpo and a huge cuttlefish to share. The cuttlefish was so freakin good that I ordered the small squid as well. We ate our hearts out plus two drinks yet paid less than €80!! Highly highly highly recommended by two food snobs!

It is outstanding with lots of shrimp, mussels, clams, and scallops. This is a family owned place with a fun atmosphere and really friendly staff. The service was great and the food came out quickly. It was recommended by a hotel staff member who goes here with her family. The price is very reasonable too. We paid €60 for tapas, paella, and sangria. Give this place a try, you will love it

This is a great place to go for the true tapas experience, meaning when you order a drink, you get a free tapa with it! The tapas were good, and the staff was very friendly! They also give surprisingly large portions! The only reason why I didn't give it 5 stars is because the restaurant itself is a little dive-y, but that honestly didn't affect my experience in a negative way at all.

This place is classic Spain, or rather classic Madrid: dark wooden interior with a raised bar manned by well-dressed bartenders, clientele a socioeconomic mix, united by proximity, beer slung beside vermuth and all your traditional cured meat plates and some seafood with the "cecina" standing out as the heavy hitter. We always end up spending more money here than we mean to. One more plate of cecina, another round of vermuth, another hour soaking in the setting, tossed on the waves of conversation. That's Spain for me, and in that undertow it's hard to escape with your bank account intact. It's not that Casa Gerardo is an expensive place by any means; it's that the place foments prolonged social engagements so characteristic of its host culture. Having a good time costs money! TL;DR Casa Gerardo is a must-see if you want to be immersed in a typically Madrileño experience.
