The van was very spacious and comfortable. We were joined by 4 other friendly travelers. After we left the city, our first stop was breakfast at a local place. the tacos were delicious. We then went on to an agave field where he started explaining the origin of Tequila and how it is harvested from the agave plant. It was wonderful meeting the jimador, the special travel who harvests the plant and having him show us how he works the 'cao'. We tasted tequila at two different distilleries. Pedro showed us the right way to enjoy Tequila and which brands to go for. We found it to be a very personal and enjoyable tour. The restaurant he chose for lunch turned out to be great. One of our best lunches while we were in Guadalajara. I would have liked to try the pulque but our time was cut short due to traffic headed back to the city being that it was Sunday. Would highly recommend this tour if you want to immerse yourself more in the culture.

In a beautiful space that…read morewas Mickey's father's butcher shop, we enjoyed an intimate evening of education, tasting very special and unique tequilas and mezcals and amazing food (props to his pal Chef David) as though we were with an old friend. Whether you are a tequila/mezcal scholar or brand new, Mickey weaves history, technique, voluminous knowledge of the world of agave farming, markets spirits production process and stories deftly and authentically, and you will be transported. Our non-drinking teenage daughter also attended and really enjoyed the night. One of the most authentic travel experiences we have ever had in many trips around the world. Until then, everything we asked for was possible (traveling by air conditioned van for the day to multiple tastings for Tequilla aficionados and discovering lots of small, unknown brands). That day, a tour guide who has not heard of any of this shows up in her own compact, no air conditioning car. She knew nothing about what we had been told. It was frustrating- we traveled from the US for this special birthday celebration and what was promised should have been delivered. No amount was deducted from the bill for any of this, Mickey couldn't care less once he had received the fee about anything else. Disappointing.
