I remember the huge controversy over whether or not the IB program was going to make it here - lucky for me, it was. Well not really luck, it had already been determined and not much was goign to be able to change that. In any case, its a nice campus with bright shiny new stuff. However, when I've gone back to visit, it just seems that there just isn't enough buildings. There was a disturbing increase in the number of portables on the school grounds. Shoot, the school was barely large enough to hold the students back in my day - and its definitely busting at the seams now. Teachers are good though and do a good job of prepping students for college. Oh, Campus is also a satellite campus for USF

Although, in case you didn't know, Dunedin High's reputation is not the best, it actually is…read moresomewhat of a hidden gem of a high school. Coming from seven schools previously to this one (private and public) it's safe to say I know a good bit about the school system so just keep that in mind. Dunedin's direct public competition such as PHU, East Lake, and Tarpon are all egregiously overrated. Since large portions of those schools populations are wealthy they have access to virtually any drug which is why each of them have horrible drug problems, especially Tarpon (common for kids there to have gone to rehab). Teachers at east lake are lazy and rely on the wealth of the students there to pay for private tutoring rather than teaching the subject properly, this combined with their drug problem makes me question why anyone would consider this school. PHU is the best option of this list since it has the most driven population of student; however, they WILL work you harder than you have ever been worked before. The private schools are not much better considering all the ones in Pinellas county such as Calvary and especially CCC have the same drug problems as the listed public schools just for the premium price of about $16000. These schools make you think that your getting something for your money but in reality they are really limiting your education by making things harder than they have to be (meaning getting into rigorous classes such as AP classes which boost your GPA is harder to do here than elsewhere). These schools are also usually full of spoiled brats which is not always a good influence on other kids there cause everyone knows how good the work ethic of those kind of kids are. Jesuit seems to be the only reasonable private school however they are in Tampa and only allow boys. Now looking at Dunedin alone it is easy to overlook at first but here is an overview of what's up. The school has a very small population compared to any other public school in the county. Dunedin has teachers that fight for their students and really do a great job (that doesn't just come from me). Dunedin has a solid amount of AP classes and it's not difficult to get into one, as well getting into the social groups at the top in terms of grades is super easy since the class is so small (this comes from a student who is top of their class). The drug problem at Dunedin is minor especially when compared to other schools in the county. The bad news about Dunedin is that ever since COVID the school has been losing good teachers and things are generally on the decline in terms of quality, although there is new admin that looks good but I won't be there to see how they do. This decline is completely due to the school board of Pinellas county, they are absolutely TERRIBLE. They are the reason this review is missing a star and why Dunedin is declining. But all that being said dunedin will stay at least a decent school, better than the others mentioned at least. So essentially your two choices are between PHU and Dunedin, and keep in mind that there isn't a one size fits all kind of school so when deciding between these schools you really have to see which one fits your child the best. PHU will work ur child as hard as a college student but Dunedin will force your student to build their own work ethic to be at the same level (which for me was better). Ultimately both schools are being affected by the school board so the decline at Dunedin is really happening everywhere however PHU always is getting better student each year due to its IB program so that covers up all of their holes. If you are not interested in the IB or don't get into it PHU is in no way worth it at all. I hope this review gives you a little more insight into the school system if you are searching for a school for your child or if you are an alum looking back on your old high school hopefully this gives you insight into the situation here.

Many of the schools i toured previously were very wishy washy with their procedures and policies. I wanted a place that felt like home, had a respectable kind staff, but had clear expectations and guidelines for my son's safety and care. I toured school with a long check list of questions and all of my concerns were addressed professionally. My son (17m) has been attending since he was 10 weeks old. As a first time mom everything was overwhelming and frightening to start. The whole staff was so helpful and welcoming to start. Bianca and her team made this very difficult transition seem very smooth. I remember on our first day she invited me to call the classroom as many times as I needed. I did my best to focus on my work and trust they had him. She was kind enough to call me. Just to check in and give me an update knowing this was a big day for both of us. Bianca was incredible when it came to difficult things like transitioning to solids, sickness, and developmental milestones. Now my son is in the 1's class and he's learning so much everyday. He can't wait to go to school in the morning. I can't imagine being a working mom and not having this level of care for my son. I feel so fortunate that I found this group right away. There is not a single place I would take my kids or trust with them in the entire area because of how amazing they are with the kids and how happy my kids are to come every day. It's an absolute dream school I wish I had attended when I was a kid-- at least now I can gift the experience to my children. The future generations will benefit from going to this school w its gardening program, veterinary training, culinary program, robotics and 3D printers, etc. Critical thinking, empathy, and exposure to the old and new educational systems are all delivered here for kids w special needs and the gifted and everyone in-between. The owners changed the curriculum after every kid was enrolled and would not admit it for 6 months. The charges OMG the charges. The tuition is 18000 per child. But it dosent stop there. They charge the parents for workshops. Every week the school will bring in an outside professional and pay them to teach the kids. We'll that is 150.00 per kid per workshop. Help me understand why we need to pay an outside professional when the school charges so much. They also charge for a field trip to the Animal Sanctuary that their Non Profit owns and is on the same property as the school. The only real goal of this school and their contact is to make sure they get paid, but teaching your kids and keeping them safe isnt in the contract.

Ms. Williams is by far one of the worst teachers at this school. she will do anything but teach…read more half the time she's either yelling at someone who's sleeping because she shuts all of her lights off or because someone is on their phone. she doesn't let us take work home if we don't finish we have to go after school which some people don't have the resources for. she just hands us a paper and turns on a video and then gives a test. doesn't follow 504 rules and makes it especially hard for those students to learn anything.

When she…read more"graduated," the plan was to register her at Tarpon Springs Middle as this was her zoned school then request transfer to Palm Harbor. I live a mile away from PHMS and take care of her while mom is at work. I went to the TSMS office and reserved a spot for the 2017-18 school year. I told them my intentions. The Principal's office was within hearing range and Mrs Giles came out to talk to me. She wanted to give me information on TSMS and I was all ears! #1 She made the effort to come out of her office to talk to me. #2 She gave a brief history of the school; the good, the bad, and the ugly! #3 She showed true enthusiasm and caring about the students and bringing the school rating up! I told her she just gained another student AND another parent volunteer who will support and help get the school the A rating it deserves! Because of Mrs Giles, I am now a Level 2 PCS Volunteer. I am on the School Advisory Committee and the PTSA. To date, My Granddaughter has reported back-to-back Honor Roll status AND is active in the Girls Chorus. She's made a lot of new friends and loves the fact that her "Pops" supports her and the other students at school. I loved my career but this volunteer gig is the most important opportunity to me and, obviously, to my Granddaughter! When we get A rating, I'll go FIVE STARS! Go Spartans!
