When we lived in Florida, I was Blessed to have wonderful Dr.s, for everyday and every surgery or…read morewhatever my problem was. I started having surgeries when I was1 and again age 10, leg surgeries. 2007 left total knee replacement, 2012, below the Knee Amputation. I have a partial bionic neck and two partial bionic legs. We moved to West Virginia to be closer to my parents who are both 86. Mom was going to Dr Mauzy Pronounced; ( Mau- Zee ) . I decided I would also, since I drive her everywhere. He is not as outgoing, and forceful as my Florida Drs. I still liked him. Now after 2 years, I'm not sorry. He is caring, and he listens. His staff think the world of him. I'm thankful to call Dr Mauzy, my family Dr. I had Been sick for a little over a year. Symptoms same as my stomach cancer. The cancer was at the top of my stomach and It was affecting my Esophagus. Same symptoms, getting much worse. Dr. Mauzy sent me for a HIDA scan. Same test as I had in Florida for my cancer. In Florida I was given the HIDA TEST completely different. A HIDA scan. In this test, a radioactive material called hydroxy iminodiacetic acid (HIDA) is injected into the patient. The radioactive material is taken up by the gallbladder to measure gallbladder emptying function. This test also is referred to as cholescintigraphy. Well...... I did not hear from the Drs office, ( I know they are very busy) I called. I was told my Gall Bladder was completely Dead. It came out several days later. Dr Mauzy and I are going for another round, I went to see him June 19, 2018. He sent sent me to the lab in the same building to have blood work. Wow!! 8 vials , I know he is checking for Thyroid, and also Celiac disease. The other vials well he is thorough. Drs are Human, I am thankful he listens, he cares, and he will do what it takes to see why you are feeling you do. Hypochondriacs ? I'm not sure. I'm not being mean, I know one. Insurance got the point, they were not going to pay for her Ambulance, nor 80% of her unnecessary medical. If you do not have a Dr. ... Dr Mauzy and his staff, are the some of the very best.

I am deeply disappointed by the treatment I received at this urgent care facility on a recent…read moreSunday visit. I came in seeking help for gastritis--a painful and disruptive condition--and instead of receiving compassion and proper medical attention, I was met with the most unprofessional and confusing behavior I've ever experienced from a healthcare provider. The nurse assigned to me was, without question, the worst I've encountered at any WVU Medicine location. Rather than focusing on my symptoms or the reason for my visit, she bizarrely fixated on a medication called Diflucan, typically used for treating yeast infections in women. I am not a woman, and the prescription in question had absolutely no relevance to the gastritis that brought me to urgent care. I was confused and told her that I had no idea what she was talking about, yet she continued to push the issue aggressively. She even went so far as to call the pharmacy--without my consent--and then accused me of already having picked up the medication. She then rudely questioned why the medication wasn't showing up in my pharmacy app, looking at my personal phone as if she had the right to audit it. When I calmly asked what any of this had to do with the reason I was there, she finally admitted it had "nothing" to do with it. Then why bring it up in the first place? The entire interaction felt invasive, confusing, and completely unrelated to my care. The doctor who eventually saw me seemed just as puzzled by her behavior as I was. It was deeply uncomfortable, and I left feeling unheard, disrespected, and humiliated. While I have had decent experiences with other staff at this location, this nurse's behavior was so far out of line that I will never allow myself to be treated by her again. She showed no professionalism, no empathy, and no understanding of appropriate patient care or boundaries. I sincerely hope she is reported and investigated for this incident. Patients go to urgent care to seek relief--not to be interrogated about irrelevant medications, especially in a way that feels accusatory and dismissive. This experience shook my confidence in WVU Medicine's standards. Please do better.

I am looking elsewhere for a primary because I can't rely on my current doctor. My health issues…read moreseem to be too much for them to deal with. Every appointment seems too complex for them and I get nothing helpful in spite of having well documented issues that they refuse to address. They are heavy on referrals and testing, but when it comes time to treat the problem, they won't. So save your money.
